👻Beware! Dangers may be lurking inside your food

Did you know that glyphosate, the most commonly used pesticide in the world, is often used on both GMO and non-GMO products? This chemical is a known carcinogen, but residue from it and other toxic chemicals is likely all over conventionally-grown produce. Many foods we enjoy this time of the year, like Halloween candy, are also full of artificial and ultraprocessed ingredients that have adverse effects on your body.
Thankfully, we can rely on certified organic foods to treat us to better nutrition and flavor without the tricks of conventional farming! Read more about how to skip the chemicals this season in our blog.

The Evolution of Plasmapheresis:
From Emergency to Integrative Therapy
Plasmapheresis, or therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), has been a lifesaving hospital therapy for over six decades, used to treat autoimmune and neurological emergencies.

At Gordon Medical Associates, we're now pioneering its application for complex chronic illness and proactive health optimization. Often described as an "oil change for the body," plasmapheresis removes substances from the blood that overwhelm the body's natural detoxification systems, including inflammatory mediators like cytokines, biotoxins from mold and mycotoxins, immune complexes that trigger autoimmune reactions, heavy metals such as mercury and lead, microplastics, and PFAS chemicals.

We're seeing remarkable outcomes in conditions that have resisted conventional treatment:
  • PANS/PANDAS rapid symptom control when combined with IVIG therapy
  • Chronic inflammatory response syndrome (CIRS) and mold-related illness
  • Complex Lyme disease and co-infections
  • Long COVID and ME/CFS
  • Multiple chemical sensitivity
  • Autoimmune conditions with multi-system involvement
  • Cognitive health and early neurological decline
Read our latest article to learn more about the six-decade history of plasmapheresis, how it works, and how we integrate it within our individualized process of patient care.
Dr. Eric Gordon also recently sat down with Dr. Eleanor Stein to discuss plasmapheresis and the ever more complex landscape of chronic illness.

They discussed:
  • The biology of senescent cells (SASP) and how they keep the body “stuck” in an unhealed state.
  • Why some patients experience dramatic improvements and others don’t.
  • How plasmapheresis removes inflammatory proteins, antibodies, and toxins from the blood.
  • Why toxic load from sources like heavy metals, glyphosate, plastics, and PFAS might be silently driving chronic illness.
  • The real-world limits of expensive protocols versus low-cost, sustainable approaches that promote self-management and resilience.

SAVE THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY

Plan to Gut the “Toxic Substances Control Act” Puts Public Health at Risk

The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) is the only thing standing between us and harmful chemicals found in everyday items like cleaning products, electronics, furniture, construction materials, and plastic products–and the factories where these toxic substances are made.
It’s the Environmental Protection Agency’s job to enforce TSCA, but with the government shutdown, the EPA is at 11 percent capacity, with only 1,734 employees deemed “essential” to protect life, property, or national security at work. If Trump has his way, the 89 percent of EPA employees currently out of work won’t have much reason to come back.
Trump’s EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin is gutting the Toxic Substances Control Act, rolling back TSCA’s risk evaluation process for existing chemicals, ignoring the real-life ways people are exposed, and weakening protections that prevent exposure.
Under his proposed rule, the EPA would require far less data from companies about chemicals under review, increasing the chances of chemicals being declared “safe” with inadequate information.
TAKE ACTION BY NOVEMBER 7: Save the Toxic Substances Control Act!

The Race to the Bottom: GMOs, Beef, Avocados & Toxic Food Additives

International trade agreements help corporations evade national laws.
Just like they’ve done with the WTO and NAFTA, companies like Monsanto (Bayer) are using the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) to force countries to import food their people don’t want to eat and make local farmers compete with cheap, industrially produced imports.
The Trump Administration is currently reviewing the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement. We need to stop the USMCA from undermining food labeling & farmer protections!
Will the U.S. and Canada continue to use the USMCA to force Mexicans to eat Bayer’s Roundup-soaked GMO corn?
Will Canada and Mexico continue to use the USMCA to trick Americans into eating beef from across the border that’s misleadingly labeled “Product of the U.S.A.”?
Will U.S. avocado farmers continue to be driven out of business by importers like Del Monte, West Pack, Calavo, and Mission that are clearcutting the forests of Michoacan and Jalisco to plant hyper-industrial plantations?
And if that’s not enough: a USMCA provision known as the Junk Food Annex that would prevent the labeling of ultra-processed foods to disclose health-harming chemical additives.
Can you send a message to the U.S. Trade Representative today?

Foodscaping is the Sustainable Garden Trend Making Any Space Both Beautiful and Productive

by Edward Bowring, Homes & Gardens:
“With mounting interest in grow your own, it is perhaps no surprise that foodscaping, or edible landscaping as it is sometimes referred to, is currently right on trend. Briefly described as the concept of integrating edible plants with other ornamentals, foodscaping defies the need for a separate vegetable patch.
Not too dissimilar from a traditional French kitchen garden or potager, foodscaping is all about mixing beauty and function. To discover how foodscaping is tipped to trend next year, we contacted some experts in their field for their opinions and advice on how to use foodscaping in a front or backyard.
Foodscaping uses plants and flowers that are both attractive and edible, known as edimentals. Available in a wide range of colors and forms, the list of edimentals is extensive and includes perennials, shrubs and trees.”

NEW STUDY

Even Tiny Doses of Glyphosate Can Cause Health Problems Across Generations

Pamela Ferdinand, U.S. Right To Know:
“Even extremely small amounts of the herbicide glyphosate can harm gut health, disrupt metabolism, and change behavior in mice, scientists say. The effects aren’t limited to the exposed animals—they pass on to their children and grandchildren.
The new research, to be published Nov. 1 in Science of the Total Environment, suggests that prenatal exposure to glyphosate disrupts gut bacteria, hormones, and brain signaling in mice. Even at doses far below current safety guidelines, the herbicide is linked to inflammation, metabolic problems involving appetite and blood sugar, and signs of neurological risk.
‘Our findings demonstrate that prenatal glyphosate exposure, at doses consistent with real-world dietary intake, can disrupt multiple physiological systems across generations,’ the researchers say.”
Glyphosate, best known as the active ingredient in Roundup, is the most widely used herbicide in the world

FOOD SECURITY

Let’s Preserve Our Communities Through Canning Food

Jillian Fischer writes for Civil Eats:
“Set in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, surrounded by rolling farmlands and hardwood forests, Glade Hill Cannery often opens before the sun has risen. On one such early morning, expert canner Ronald David supervises the pots of apple butter that bubble on the stoves, fogging the windows with steam.
‘Anything you want cooked, I can cook. I can cook dirt,’ jokes David, who has operated this community cannery for the last 30 years, guiding his neighbors through the steps of preserving their own food—from cooking the raw ingredients to sealing them into jars. A community cannery is essentially a shared, public-access kitchen with commercial-grade equipment where anyone can process raw produce into shelf-stable goods. Commonly canned items include tomatoes, green beans, peaches, jams, pickles, and sauces. Across the U.S., the scale of community canneries ranges widely, from those operating out of small school kitchens to those that are industrial-size, like Glade Hill.”
Canning centers have always been vital spaces for strengthening social bonds, reducing food waste, and increasing food security

I take capsules of ground clove, makes it easy

I guess it would, but when I've been sitting at my desk eating jellybeans or candy corn, like at Halloween time, my gums swell and my teeth get loose, yikes. I chew a whole clove and immediately I can feel that eugenol swishing around my mouth. Just a few minutes later, all better, teeth tight, all good.

And I love that hot spicy flavor of a clove.

Women's Heart Risk Is Increasing

By Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Mike Roizen, MDs

Actress Elizabeth Banks (who plays Effie Trinket in “The Hunger Games” movies) once appeared in a public service announcement called “A Little Heart Attack,” which was about a working mother of two who is unaware she's experiencing a cardiac event.

Banks' character is so absorbed in multitasking — doing the laundry, taking a work phone call, making lunch for her kids — that she never asks herself what's causing her excessive sweating, nausea, jaw tightening, and breathlessness.

Special: Dr. Crandall Saved His Own Heart With This

Her son Googles “women's heart attack symptoms” and eventually she calls 911, saying she's sorry to be a bother, but she thinks she's had “a little heart attack.”

That “forging ahead” approach to heart health isn't uncommon for women. One study found that women wait 37 minutes longer than men to seek treatment for a heart attack.

That's not smart, especially because middle-age women are increasingly hard-hit by heart disease.

According to a recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2017 the death rates from heart disease in women ages 45 to 64 increased by 7%, compared with 3% for men.

If you’re not up to speed on women's heart attack symptoms (only about 56% of women know heart disease is their No. 1 killer), they include the traditional ones like chest pressure and chest pain, as well as sore left arm, nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, sweatiness, discomfort in the jaw, neck, and/or shoulders, severe fatigue, bad indigestion, and even a sense of impending doom.

If you think you're having a heart attack, call 911. Don't tough it out. Better safe than sorry.

Hi Jimi,

A few years ago, I was speaking with the mighty Rosemary Gladstar (known as the godmother of American herbalism) and she kindly offered to write a guest article for The Sacred Science Blog. This was a HUGE honor, and I can't tell you how excited we are to be able to share it with you.

Rosemary puts so much love and beauty into everything she touches, and the piece she's written (link below!) is a masterpiece in itself.

The powerful topic that she explores is one that we all can benefit from... nervines!

Before we dive too deep, let's begin with a simple question - what is a nervine?

A nervine is an herb that's good for your nervous system. You know, the exquisitely complex network of cells and fibers that transmit and receive stimuli to and from all the nerves in your body. Your nervous system includes your brain, spinal cord, and a lot more.

Some nervine tonics strengthen and tone your nervous system. Others, known as nervine relaxants, calm your nervous system down. Then there are nervine trophorestoratives, which can restore your nervous system to a state of healthy equilibrium, undoing the damage that stress and other factors have inflicted on it.

In this beautiful and generous sharing, Rosemary lifts the lid on what herbal nervines are and how to use them. So make some tea, settle in, and enjoy a soul-nourishing foray into nervines, stress relief, and wholesome bodily comfort.

Click here to read Rosemary's article on our blog!

You probably never thought a shampoo, lotion, or packaged snack could affect fertility

But new research suggests it might…

Not just for you if you’re a woman…

But for your daughters, granddaughters, and even great-granddaughters.

A study published in Nature Communications has found that propylparaben…

A common preservative used in personal care products and packaged foods…

Can harm ovarian function across generations…

Without even altering DNA.

Here’s what researchers discovered in mice:

  • Fewer ovarian follicles—the tiny egg cells you need for fertility.
  • Lower-quality eggs, which don’t develop properly or support healthy embryos.
  • Increased death of essential ovarian cells, reducing hormone levels and egg reserves.
  • These effects persisted for three generations, even in animals never directly exposed to the chemical.

In short… what you put on your skin today…

Could reprogram reproductive cells and pass fertility problems down the line.

And it’s not just mice.

Blood samples from women with diminished ovarian reserve showed the same gene patterns…

That drove ovarian decline in mice.

The good news…

Is that nutrition may help.

In the study, pregnant mice given folic acid and vitamin B12 produced offspring with healthier ovaries and hormone levels.

That tells us that there are ways to offset some of the damage.

If you want to protect your fertility…and the future fertility of the next generation…

Start with what YOU can control:

  • Choose paraben-free, organic-certified products.
  • Reduce processed and packaged foods.
  • Avoid plastics and water-based products containing parabens.

THIS alone can make a world of difference in your health…

And that of your loved ones.

>>> Click here to see the shocking truth about everyday products harming fertility

To your health,

Spinal Health Awareness Month ended on Friday, but that doesn’t mean we forget about our spine, right?

Yes, if you want to stay strong, mobile, and independent into your 80s or 90s, you probably already know the basics.

Eat clean. Move often. Get good sleep.

But there’s one major piece almost everyone overlooks—and it might be even more important than all three combined.

Your spinal health and posture!

In this week’s video, I dig into a specific part of your spine that holds the key to how well you move, breathe, and even age.

Most people never think about it until stiffness, slouching, or pain start to creep in.

But here’s what’s wild.

Research shows that the shape of your spine might actually predict how long you live.

That’s right… your posture can be a window into your overall health and longevity.

In the video, I break down:

➡️ The hidden link between posture, oxygen levels, balance, and circulation.

Forgotten Wonders of Pycnogenol
Dr. Russell Blaylock, M.D., writes:

When pycnogenol (French maritime pine bark extract) first appeared on the natural health market, it caused a lot of excitement. But it has been mostly forgotten.
That’s unfortunate, because it has a number of incredible health benefits. For example, in a double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 101 patients ages 60-85 were given either a placebo or 150 mg of pycnogenol for three months as a possible way to prevent and treat a decline in cognitive function. Researchers tested attention, working memory, episodic memory, and psychomotor performance. They found a significant improvement in working memory (which we use every day) and a dramatic decrease in lipid peroxidation products in those taking pycnogenol supplements.

Vascular diseases affecting the retina are quite common and can lead to blindness. In another study, researchers tested 40 patients with diabetes, atherosclerosis, or other vascular diseases and found that the 30 they treated with 50 mg of pycnogenol three times a day for two months not only demonstrated no deterioration, but also showed significant improvement in visual acuity. The patients who got a placebo continued to deteriorate.
The researchers also conducted special testing (fluorangiography and electroretinogram) that demonstrated objective improvement in retinal vascularization and function within the treatment group.
Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness in the United States. The primary damage occurs in microscopic blood vessels in the retina (called diabetic microangiopathy). Another study used older patients with advanced diabetic complications. The subjects were given 50 mg of pycnogenol three times a day for four weeks. After a month, they saw a significant improvement of microangiopathy, with a significant decrease in leakage of the vessels — a major cause of retinal damage and blindness.
In another study, researchers found that pycnogenol supplementation could significantly improve healing of diabetic ulcers, which can be very difficult to mend. The ulcers healed completely in 89% of the patients within six weeks. One use of pycnogenol is for treatment of vein problems of the legs that can cause swelling and eventual development of leg ulcers, which are difficult to heal. Patients taking pycnogenol saw reduced swelling of their legs and a significant reduction in venous leakage, which also prevented ulcerations.
Pycnogenol has also been very effective for preventing venous thrombosis in people who fly long distances. Pycnogenol increases nitric oxide production, but only in blood vessels, thereby improving blood flow. (Hesperidin also selectively increases blood vessel nitric oxide.) In addition, pycnogenol lowers elevated blood pressure when taken for 12 weeks.
Another beneficial effect is its ability to lower histamine levels, which reduces allergy symptoms.
Based on its ability to improve blood flow and stimulate blood vessel nitric oxide levels, pycnogenol should also significantly improve I am a spammer ban me dysfunction, even to normal levels, when combined with L-arginine.
In another study, researchers observed a significant improvement in vascular insufficiency-induced leg cramps and pain. The usual dose is 50 mg to 100 mg three times a day.
