Has anyone thought on those "bad" flavorings.. and been brave enough to stop using them?
if so, what do you sub with what to make up or to change tastes.. ??

i pulled all of mine, the vendors that cant say what is in my flavoring.. and the known bad flavors..
i haven't subbed anything out yet, as i probably wont be mixing till next weekend..
but it is a thought.. :)

i think im just gonna stick with all FA from now on, seems like everything i mix from them can be an adv. plus i know they are made for inhalation, other companies seems to be a gamble

I went through all of TFA's analysis results and created "my choice list"; all others were pulled for kitchen use. I use these, Flavor Art, and Hangsen's tobaccos. Not feeling deprived at all -- except when wanting a cinnamon danish vape. Hmmm... Seems this should be possible using FA...

I got rid of them a long time ago, without really knowing it was the bad stuff, just knowing whatever was in it gave me bad, bad vapors tongue. The only one I kept and use rarely is Lorann Cream Cheese Icing. Since then though, since I only make recipes for me and occasionally, my son, it hasn't mattered at all.

I just keep them around. As soon as I throw it away, one of you will come up with the new vape of the day and it will call for 1% of shit flavoring. :D...and wont taste right without it.

Thats funny as well , that would be my and your luck , Murphy's law .

I won't throw mine away but I don't use them like I once did.
When I first learned of the bad stuff I did pull those flavors from my normal use stuff.
Since then I have slowly added them back in a little at a time.

I don't use them a lot but they are useful at times and nowhere near as bad as smoking cigarettes.
I figure if I used them all the time, it would still be better than smoking.

Don't worry @Time if you are happy with the flavors you mix... that is all that matters. ;)

Oh man, I thought you guys meant Bad tasting flavors. Not the flavors that had bad stuff in them.
as for the bad stuff in them, I figure after smoking 50 years, a little more bad stuff is not going to make a difference.
As mentioned above, it still is not as bad as what I was smoking before and even safer...

Getting into DIY so expect to see me haunting the threads with really dumb questions and such.....

I know, there are no dumb questions, just dumb people. snickers....

There are no dumb questions and we all started sometime.
No matter how long anyone has been doing DIY, we can all still learn something everyday.
Have fun with it!

even tho we all do not know what the effects are from doing this 20-40 years..

i just want to know i am trying to do my best to keep me and mine healthy and as safe as possible. :)

No, I wouldn't make something for someone else with "bad" stuff. No way without their knowledge. But, for myself, I've done like Ld says. On occasion, I've used a tiny amount. None are all day vapes, none are a main flavoring. I only have a small handful of any of the questionable ones anyway.

yes, however, if you mix for someone, and know you have those "bad" flavorings..
i dont know.. thinking on it now.. i just can not do it..

Depends who the person your mixing for is , if it was me there's no doubt you would mix the most horrific flavors you had at your disposal .

Funny thing is i highly doubt i would be able to tell a difference from my own concoctions and would most likely think yours is actually an improvement over mine and thank you for it.

Hey Tick, just a little more background (cause you're a noob, maybe?). Beyond the extreme case of "popcorn lung" (i.e. lung transplant), diketones are suspect in COPD. And with prior smoking history, there is likely more risk. Certainly not trying to lean on you -- we all make our own choices -- but just for your information. And why many choose to avoid -- and get so irate with suppliers that fail to disclose (or worse, LIE).

But the best news? Ending the stinkies -- congratulations!

Need to try a little harder , sensing heavy lean here.

None intended. It is not easy to glean the latest info/concerns when it is widely scattered and spread across multiple sources. I have no issue with people making their own decisions, however, believe it's best when it's an informed decision. Que Sera, Sera.

50 years of smoking, stop date 12/23/13. Finally going to try DIYing and reading more than I have in years..
Mastered coil building so DIYing is the next step. Still reading so I have not started yet, need the basics first.

I plan to check out the what is in each as I learn more.
Just feel, that if it is so little, why worry.
Yes, since a certain Police action, I have had a death wish as others have told me. If you know what I mean.
So lean away....

Hmmm? You got me guessing... Any hints? Korea? Vietnam? Anti-war? Watts? Occupy? Ferguson? Fifty years is a good length of time; only thirty-five for me (though I started late). Speaking of death wishes -- just finished build on Orchid V4. Whoa, time to reduce my nic. This thing hits harder than both Magma and Veritas (though less flavor).

Interesting , man it's so hard to decide new purchases based on user reviews but thats really all we got . Nearly every review i have read about the Orchid says it beats these two for flavor which i do have a very hard time believing.

Vapor is out of sight but don't get the same richness of flavor. That said, convenience versus RDA is great -- and zero leaking. I use single coil around 1.8 ohms and 8 watts across all these devices. Find better flavor with ~3mm diameter coil than ~2mm but couldn't built the Orchid that large. I don't like hot vapes (and don't lung hit). Likely I will drip at home and then use the RTA when out and about. Lemo might have been better choice since I like a single coil (though more pricey).

I believe in freedom of choice and education of the population. When possible, if there is an appropriate substitute, I'd always prefer to avoid acetyl propionyl and diacetyl in my juices, however, there are some flavors that I and others that vape my juice enjoy and it is up to them to make an educated and informed decision about what they vape. I use full disclosure with all my juices and am in the process of adding a blog/news feed to my site to reference more educational articles for those that are not fully aware.

Billions of people do things everyday that are much worse for their bodies than vaping diacetly in minimal amounts, not justifying or saying it's negligible, just saying people should have the right to choose.

I would rather offer these flavors, as when it comes right down to it, I'd much rather have someone vaping a juice of mine that contains AP or diacetyl than going back to an analog cause they can no longer find flavors that suit their needs.

Just my two cents.

That being said, the V2 substitutes TFA and CAP have been using (butyric acid in replacement of AP/acetoin) don't even come close to cutting it for me personally. They smell and have a bit of a taste similar to that of artificial vomit...I've managed to make them suffice in small amounts, but can't make a predominately vanilla custard vape out of anything without using the 'bad flavors'.

I draw the line with the artificial vomit flavoring , even mixed at 1% it's still a no go for me .

An informed customer decision based on full supplier disclosure is okay by me. However, owners/manufactures should know that nondisclosure of known harmful ingredients can and will get them prosecuted for criminal negligence -- which is exactly what it is. Likewise also attempting to deceive their customers can and should also be prosecuted for criminal fraud.

No fooling guys and gals -- that is exactly what these actions are. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge should and will get these suppliers sent to prison. Suppliers better be testing and making full disclosure to their customers. Their customers and competitors can now test for $200 and make a referral to their DAs for criminal prosecution.

And yeah, some past supplier actions make me hot under the collar (Flavor West anyone?). Glad to see you're off on the right foot botboy.

Okay, sorry blue. Back on topic...

No doubt about it , if a manufacturer intentionally hides the real ingredients in their juice that needs to be taken very very seriously. I believe there has been purposeful deception in the past by some flavor makers because they new serious penalties were unlikely to happen , hopefully that will change.

if you follow the link, it will lead you to the fb group I keep talking about.. :p

this one:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/314609708719483/

that is even cooler, to see companies willing to go thru with this..
but like GG and I talked today..

Nicvape.. excellent example.. :D really..

the flavors are more than decent, no aftertaste and guess what??

lol belong in that fb group i just linked to... Diacetyl and Acetyl Propiony FREE!!

but there is a cost to all of this testing.. higher flavor cost.. higher cost tacked on in "handling"..
is it worth it? could be.. until they find yet another chemical that hey.. we the mixers need to be worried about..
