Those sound cool, I haven't gotten to check any of the new stuff like oculus or even the phone ones. My first experience was a trip, it was some gaming place at a mall in Arizona.. 25, maybe 26yrs ago. They had these platforms you stood on, put the big goggles on and held a controller in the hands. There was some sort of barrier around the platform to keep you from falling off. The graphics were kinda garbage but it was still cool, some space aliens thing and it was multiplayer. Like 5 people at a time I think. Trippy to look to your left and see one of the other players in the game..and they're looking back at you and see your character.
Most recent purchase, some tech stuff. Mostly for my mom's pc, she's running out of room on her hard drive. I remember when back in the day she had an 18gb drive and said ohhh ho ho, this will be the last drive I'll ever need. No way I could ever fill this thing up. Fast forward like 18yrs and she's telling me her 1tb drive is full. lol. So found a decent deal on a wd ultrastar 6tb enterprise drive with 5yr warranty. That after failed phone call attempts to the seller and wd resulted in confirmation by email that if wd won't honor the warranty for being an oem drive, the retail place will. We'll see, hope I don't have to use it. Wd has decent drives but man their tech support sucks. Naturally I get some guy from India or someplace, he says in busted ass english 'hel-lo and velcom to wes-tern dig-i-tal'. Oh boy. He asked for my name, my phone number and the nature of my call. So I gave him my name. And he replies with '...and your name?' Yep, we're done. Namaste bubba.
So that'll be some work, setting that up for her but maybe the sides of her pc case will stop bulging with overfull folders. lol. Got some minor stuff, a fan extension cable to reconnect her side fan, a molex to sata power cable in case the drive number is wrong. Some follow the old specs and will boot just fine with a sata cable, others follow the new power standard that when the 3.3v pin is powered makes the drive fail to spin up. Rather than cross my fingers I get the exact confirmed model number, worth it to get a cheap cable jic.
Some different lcd cleaner, my bottle's almost out. Found a good deal for 2x 17oz bottles and an empty spray bottle with 10 microfiber rags for $11. Noticed the price of mech keyboards has dropped considerably so got an aukey rgb board with outemu blue switches for $50. I know they're not cherry mx but it also wasn't a $150 board. I've had this cheapo microsoft kb600 membrane kb for at least 6yrs, maybe longer. It clacks and rattles, half the characters have rubbed off it, there's a dent worn into the space bar where my thumb hits it. Didn't know plastic could deform like that. Like it's an actual trough, surprised it hasn't worn through. Hopefully I can turn the led rainbow trim off on it, not really into the circus lighting but being able to choose a backlight color will be handy for low light. And since most of the cheaper boards seem to love their blue switches, got a keycap puller and some orings to help quiet it. It won't stop the internal click but may help deaden the key clatter every time it bottoms out. I think most of the stuff will be here by the end of the week.
