Setting a precedence for changing user titles could prove to be a daunting task for the staff IMO.
Something I used to do on one of my sites was allow certain user groups to be able to change their title on their own. For instance, donators or members over X amount of years on the site, etc... The most recent site I sold, I had it set up where after 1000 posts and 2 years as a member, you'd get automatically added to the Veteran's group (this site is 8 years old so there were plenty). When they got moved to the Veteran's group, their title changed to "_______ Veteran". Being in that group gave them access to more PM (conversations with this software) storage, a private forum for just that group, the ability to change their own title, and more.
This might be an idea for
@VaporJoes - set the user group permission for let's say, donators, to allow for custom user titles. Maybe even if a user has been a member for a certain amount of days, so many posts, etc.
Hypothetical example:
- Create a new user group called, Veteran Members.
- Set up permissions to allow custom titles.
- Set up a custom badge that reads, "VU Veteran".
- Set up an automatic promotion using the "apply this promotion" section in the control panel to let's say 90 days and 250 posts.
- Once that user reaches 90 days as a member and posts 250 times, they will automatically be added to that group and boom, they can change title themselves.
I am guessing by the badge on some members postbit that there is already a donator user group. All you'd have to do in that case is set the option to allow custom user titles for that group and boom, those donators can set their own user title.
