New to vaping

Hi, everyone just had a few questions now that I'm getting into vaping. I would like to get a sigelei 150 watt box mod with a ehpro atomic rda clone. I want to know what batteries I would have to get? Would this be a good combination or could I even do this? And my last question would be what wire and cotton/wick should I use? Thank you for any help

I dunno if building decks as an introduction to the vape realm is the best choice.
If youre going to build you need safety supplies first. Most important tool fot a builder is an ohm reader. You have to stay within the capabilities of your battery if you want to be safe. Have to use high drain batteries, i recommrnd lg he2 or samsung 25r. Vtc4 are the best but hard to come by as fakes flood the market, which is why the other 2 are better options to start with.
i also recommend starting with 26gauge a1 kanthal, starting on single coil builds.
i use cotton bacon. It wicks good, its ready to go, cheap, and convenient/easy to use.
you need something to cut wire with, i use nail clippers.
you need tweezers, i use ceramic tweezers.
i use the nail clippers to cut the cotton but you can use whatever.
get a good charger, i use nitecore. Its good, its cheap.
theres a million videos on building so no ned to get into thay.
good luck and god speed.

Welcome to the forum and vaping!

The RDA you are looking at has what we call a "Deck". That is where the terminals where you attach the wire is located. All RBAs and RDAs have them.

While the Sigelei 150 watt is indeed a great mod, as a new vaper you would be much better served by getting something like the Kanger Subtank or Sub Tank mini and using the prebuilt and replaceable coil heads to start off with.

Learn to walk before you start to run.

These Subtanks also come with rebuildable heads so when the time comes and you are more familiar with your equipment, you can start building them with your own coils and wick.

And just so you know, RDAs go through a lot more liquid than anything else and you are going to have to continuously fuss with them as opposed to just filling a tank and enjoying your vape.

Ok But with what you mentioned will I get as much vape/ a cloud as I would with a rda?

The regulated box is good. Don't get into rebuilding a dripper. Get you a subtank or Atlantis

I would say almost...like was previously mentioned learning to build a RDA safely is pretty involved... It can be downright intimidating, especially to someone brand new to vaping...
A good subtank like the Arctic or Starre would be the way to start off...
I don't drip on my RDAs much anymore.
These subtanks blow good, thick clouds and I don't have to build or re-drip..just refill and enjoy!
Herkales and Starre subtanks shown on a couple IPV3's... (dual batt, VW 150w box mods)

Yes! You'll get all the flavor and vapor from a Subtank that you would with an RBA/RDA, because the Subtank is two tanks in one. That's why it's such a hit worldwide.

I agree to a point..
I still blow the bigger, thicker clouds on a RDA...Like this cloud having fun fogging up my room under the blacklight

Compared to this cloud blown on my Atlantis subtank

My mech/RDA's are definitely still king of the clouds.....but the recently released line of sub ohm tanks are not far behind...

Hi. I'm using a Kanger tech protank 2 with ego twist battery and 1.5 ohm atomizer. I'm real happy with my set up. Been seriously vaping for less than a year. The only thing I would like better for my setup right now is if I could get the rotating mouth piece like my I-Clear tank. It was plastic and I wanted to try glass. Was told it gave better flavor. Now I've found an I Clear glass tank with the bottom feed like my Kanger. Hate to switch cuz I have parts for both. Lol. I'm on the fence..

By building it safely What could happen If I did it wrong because this box mod tells you whats going on and if your doing something wrong?

The Segeli 150 is a nice box...I really like them and I believe it would be an excellent choice for a first mod because it would give you all the range and power you need to run tanks or RDAs all in one device.

Since you have a high powered regulated box mod with built in safety features in this senerio...hopefully nothing will happen if you did it wrong because if the mod is working right that atty should not fire if there is a short or a bad insulator.

Bud, I have several detailed posts floating around the forum explaining the jest of what is needed to get into cloud chasing and the amount of knowledge required to do it safely. These regulated box mods with their safety features we have are awesome and a much better way IMHO to use before using mechs because of their built in safety features....but because it's got those features that doesn't meant you still do not have to learn all the basic info required that comes along with rebuilding RDA's. You still need to know battery safety and battery basics because if you don't use the correct batteries with your mod you can damage the mod, batteries, or both, or your mod will not be able to put out the power you want it to in some cases depending on which mod you get because some have stepdown protection build into their chipsets. You still need to learn ohm's law and how to use an ohm's law calculator. And these are things you can't skip out on.

The reason why everyone is telling you to go with a Subohm style tank with prebuilt heads is because you know you have a device that can power them and it is really easy to just fill a tank, screw a coil into a base, drip a few drops of liquid into the coil head to prime it, screw the tank together and blow pretty good sized clouds with minimal effort. And while you are looking threw the forums and watching videos and learning about the basics of rebuilding and battery safety and ohms law you have a tank you don't have to constantly drip liquid into every couple of hits that still will give you a really satisfying vape, And when you're ready to move into drippers, you still have that subtank to carry around with you so you don't have to constantly fiddle with a juice bottle and drip on the go which can be a pain in the ass, and if driving it can be outright dangerous.

The truth of the matter is you don't have to fog up a room and blow huge clouds to enjoy vaping...I hate to stereotype people but I see more and more a trend of younger people (18-25) decide they want to start vaping and the first thing they say is "I want to blow the biggest clouds possible." Not just here but in real life with coworkers and friends as well. And the other harsh reality of the situation is that if you've never vaped, even with the best possible airflow and a coil that puts out a cool vape, if you try and suck down vapor off a .24 ohm coil running even around like 50 watts...a lungful of that is going to be anywhere from uncomfortable to down right painful if you're not used to it the first time you hit it. You don't want to start out with the biggest clouds possible...you gotta work your way up to them. That's what they mean by crawl before you can walk.

Look threw some online vape shops, watch some youtube reviews and read up around here on the forums and don't just impulse buy a dripper...that's my opinion but if you give me a little bit of faith I think you'd be happy with one of the tanks listed above. Down below I am putting a couple links to other threads to help you start learning and to a ohm's law calculator and the steam engine coil building tool to help you get an idea of everything.

I am not telling you what to do, I am just throwing in my two cents and a extra nickel more to give you something to think about :)

LOL I've read enough. Getting in over your head is the first think we recommended not doing.

Grab up (LOL I know I'm wearing you guys out with this but) "E-Grip" and a pack of coils for now and run that for awhile and see what ya think. Just my opinion by all means. :D
