Next Generation MTL tanks Part 2

Ok I'm gonna ask here. Im wanting to try a good MTL tank and see if I can enjoy the flavor and get less clouds. I tried a kayfun 3.1 clone and it was close to working for me but not quite right, mainly because i could not adjust the airflow easily to find the right airflow for me. Ive looked at the siren and berserker and I care less how good they vape I can't stand the design of the atty. I hate all attys that when you open it up to get to the deck the glass is not held on at the bottom.Im using an ammit 22 and found the flavor is great if I go from a dul .7 coil setup to a single .7 coil but the cluds are about the same. I want to be inconspicuous in public.
So is there an MTL rta that has:
  • great flavor,
  • easy to use airflow like on a griffin or ammit not like the kayfun 3.1
  • has a standard easy to replace drip tip, not proprietary or attached to the top piece etc.
  • top fill
  • the glass section is held on at the top and bottom when you open it up to get to the deck
  • easyish to build on and wick
TIA
A good mtl tank in my opinion. I would recommend the Innokin Ares RTA. Great flavour. Easy to build. The draw is a bit loose.

The other is the Berserker mtl . Fantastic flavour. Nice tight draw. However a little finicky in wicking. It does take a few tries to get it right.

Both tanks hold a fantastic amount of juice. Both can easily hold a 3mm id coil no problem. I run 26 gauge wire no problem.

These are the two tanks I recommend. If you are new to building. Then the Ares would be the way to go. If you are an advanced builder and like a really tight draw. Then the Berserker. Both are fantastic tanks. I really love them both. I will just leave this here and let you evaluate the pros and cons of both.

Wish you the best.

I will not buy either of those tanks as I already stated. The glass section is not held on when disassembled and that is a no go for meon any tank.

Any specific tips on the wicking? Love the flavor of the tank, but having a helluva time keeping it from flooding.

1 set your cotton up. I use Celtic Cotton.
2 cut the cotton just out side the O Ring.
3 you may have to trim to get the cotton in the juice wells
4 once the cotton is in the wells nicely
5 put juice on your wick and juice it well.
6 test to see if there is any gurgling. If so vape it a couple of times to get rid of gurgling.
7 close the air holes
8 fill it from the bottom and pit the base on upside down
9 while keeping it upside down open your air holes to the desired opening.
10 put it right side up again and wait to see if it leaks. It shouldn't.
11 if you have too much wick it will dry out. You can crack the top open a little to bring juice to the cotton. Think of it as a quasi juice flow control. When I can I will post pics of my wick. It will be a bit dirty. But this one is working quite well.

Hope this helps.

As promised. Here is the wick that is working perfectly. No flooding no gurgling no spitback . The coil is a 5 wrap slightly spaced coil. At 0.633 ohms in nichrome 80. Yes I'm still new to coil building. But this works great in the Berserker.

Hope this helps.

I'll give it a clean and re-wick it in the next few days using your suggestions above - hope I can get it right, since I really want to be able to use this tank for more than ten minutes. Thanks for the tips, and I'll be sure to post how it goes!

Old thread but I have a question for MTL'ers! Anyone have any thoughts on the New Innokin coolfire with Zenith D22 kit? It's not readily available. I only seen a few vape shops online have the kit. Just wondering..I need a birthday present for SIL.

I know you said you want a tank with the glass captured like the merlin mini but I pull the base out of my hastur mtl mini and the oring holds the glass in place just fine to set a 3/4 or less full tank upside down while I dry burn & rewick about daily vaping NET juice. So if rewicking without dumping the tank is your concern, it's not a problem.

Wanted a pod like stealth vape that I could rebuild. Had the suorin air and liked it but pods didn't last long and costs more than a $0.50 coil & wick job :)
Hastur puts out a little more vape so I am vaping at around 13mg/ml salt NET juice, not the gnarley 25 to 50 mg/ml stuff for pods. Tried it, turned green :D

The flavor productuon is great, I like the airflow design. Super easy to build traditional mtl coils but not much more than a basic 26g clapton is going to work under the screw heads. It's not meant for cloud chucker builds, it is built specifically for mtl simple wire builds.

That is a really good kit.But if you want to save a few bucks and get something both easier to use and that is an even better kit.I'd go with the Vandy Vape BSKR kit.

Thanks! The berserker coils don't last long (according to reviews). I might just continue with the nautilus 2 and a mod. Pico mods are harder to find.

and full kit will be available. Interesting they changed it to a top fill

I'd like to see the review that mentions that.
I can't remember 1 that said that.
I ended up buying a innokin coolfire/zenith dss kit. I found a coupon code for misthub and bought a blue one for me. If I like it I'll look for a purple one. I'll end up buying the new nautilus2 s when its available next month. I haven't bought any vaping gear for awhile and my gear is wearing out.

As you may recall I have a deep love of all the Innokin Coolfire Series.
The Nautilus 2 was very good but I think the iJoy Elf gives better flavor using the same coils.

No negative reviews on myvaporstore. It was on a UK vaping site somewhere. I ended up buying the kit anyways. I figure if its a dud for me I'll rehome it.
My friends shop should have them in already so as soon as I get over this damn cold I have I'll go in and take a look.

Do you have to modify the coils for use? I might pick one up since it will be almost the same as the Nautilus 2 S series

I did get the Innokin mini coolfire kit in. It took me awhile to figure out that I had the ohms set to high (yes, operator error). I had it on a old pico that the screen pixels are half out. Anyways, set it at 14 turned out to be 19. My first impression was: it's a piece of shit. Then it went to "I love it". I'll see what happens. My pico screens are almost toast. I might have to buy another coolfire. They are so small and perfect.

As much as I like using big setups because of all my issues with my hands.I still prefer the look of smaller setups.
I can't express properly the sheer joy I get from my Eleaf iKonn Total.
Fill it and forget it super easy teeny tiny thingy.

What’s going on in here, let me in.
Thanks Snake, love my side by sides. Anyone still use the original lemo? I have a couple use it daily, lovely vape, just picked up the drop version as well. Usually in rotation is a KFL, lemo and skyline. Also just ordered the savour mtl, great looking little tank imo.
The new EHPro True mtl looks promising as well.

Unfortunately I have yet to try any of the Lemo series. From what I recall The Melo 3 was finicky at best it either worked like a champ or leaked like a sieve. The GS air was fair to middling. So in my experience Eleaf makes better mods than tanks.

The original lemo is the only eleaf tank I’ve tried, not interested in later versions, they have been discontinued but a few are still around on discount. I bought it after looking at the design in a vape shop. A nice restricted lung tank, tried and true kayfun style airflow under a single coil. It can’t leak on your mod because of the 510 section being a separate piece from the tank. Only negatives is bottom fill and can’t remove the build deck with a full tank but neither bothers me.

It is a rather tall tank but they made the shorter drop version as well. You can tighten the airflow down pretty good with a threaded ring under the deck, but really shines as a restricted lung.

Building is just like a kayfun, just bigger. A single 26g SS round wire coil around .5-.6 is just great.

Was hoping this was a standard sub-ohm tank. Not really looking for a R.T.A. at the moment.Looks nice and Kayfunish though.

Coils turned out to last 3-4 days. Not as sturdy as the nautilus 0.7ohm coil. I'll end up rehoming or trading it for something nautilus (like coils). Otherwise, it will sit for awhile.

There's a big list of tanks that use nautilus coils posted somewhere on the forums.Wished I could remember where.

I'm not giving up on the Innokin zenith d22.. One more try with 0.8 coils. The vendor sent me the wrong coils and I didn't realize until I ripped open the package. They said they will honor a return. So I might get the right coils I ordered to try a different wattage.

Were you trying to order the plexus coils but they sent the standard coils by mistake?

Coval has the Zenith coils in both 0.8 ohm & 1.6 ohm as well as the new Plexus Z coils. At just under $10 a 5 pack for any of them.Kind of hard to beat that price if you ask me.

The vendor I used sent Prism S coils by mistake. They are correcting the order and sending out the 0.8. I have to say they are pretty decent since I ordered a few weeks back and didn't catch the mistake. I ripped open the package as well. I do want to order the Plexus z coils. Thanks for the link.

Just use the same link for the standard coils as well then get clicky with the drop-down list.
5 Pack of Standard Zenith 1.6 Ohm Coil = $10
5 Pack of Standard Zenith 0.8 Ohm Coil = $10

Anyone know of any sales on some cheap box mods such as the eleaf pico?
Not off hand but I'll keep an eye out. They are my favorite.
Waiting on those mesh coils too, no tanks left that take them, all RBA.
Picked up a BB bridge for them, hope they're good...
