Semantics. In some ways, Rich is in worse shape. In other ways, I am in worse shape. Not sure if it evens things out.
I am the last person to want to compete for who is worse off. So I have a few pains. So what? I also have work to do, and if I have to say "ouch" once in a while, so be it. I refuse to let the problems of this body stop me from moving forward. If your pain does stop you, then I concede; you win.

And with that, dear friends, I bid you all "good night." Gotta work on that damn chicken coop again tomorrow.

Hi Old Pharts, just popping in for a minute to say hello. I am watching last night's episode of The Voice, and when it's over I am going to bed to read for a bit and then sleep. Hope you are all well as can be expected for Old Pharts, and that the chicken coop didn't get the best of Rich today. Sounds like the fire debris may have gotten Robert, so he's done for the day.

Just will say that I can remember being a kid and hearing the older folks talk about arthritis, but did I have any idea what they were really saying? Well, I sure know it now, and feel for any of you who struggle with it or any other chronic pain conditions.

Singapore Chow Mei Fun and other curry dishes, full of turmeric, a fabulous natural anti-inflammatory. Won't get rid of the Itis boys, but will help the discomfort.

Good night, all. Sleep tight.

Old Pharts always compare illnesses and diseases :)
There is a big difference here, Crom. Yes, all us old pharts do indeed compare our owies. Often, our pains are all we really have in common. But note that I used the word compete for whose pain is worse.

COMPARE: Person X: I have advanced degenerative disc disease. Person Y: I have that too. I take boogaloo drops. What medicine do you take for it?

COMPETE: Person X: And every disc is blown out on the right side, tilting my spine to the left, which in turn tilts the entire rib cage, which often causes pain at the sternum that can be mistaken for a heart attack. Person Y: My spine isn't tilted, but most of my discs are herniated. But I also have a hundred or so bone spurs that are pinching my nerves. Person X comes back with: The neurosurgeon says I have several hundred bones spurs, but not just in my spine but every joint in my body. And I also have...

This is two people, each trying to prove their pain is worse than the other guy's pain, and that is just stupid because how we each respond to pain is the bigger deal than how much of the body might be broken. For example, if Person X got his pains 40 years ago and Person Y got his pains 2 years ago, likely Person Y hurts more than person X even though the physical damage might be exactly the same. Why? One guy has had lots of years to adapt and maybe even block some of the nerve response and the other guy hasn't learned how to do that yet. This is why I said I will not compete with anyone about whose pain is worse... it is just too subjective.

Bob...I got the oil changed today at the local shop I take vehicles to. The guy told me when I was leaving the battery had 500 (?) something rather than 700 (?) like it's supposed to have....I was in a big hurry, I didn't ask what he meant by 500...you know what he's talking about?

Yep rich one does develop a tolerance for pain.

And was not picking on anyone.
Talking about ailments is just what old Pharts seem to do then they gather.

something I used to not understand and now I do it ;)

Kinda like becoming our parents to some degree?

Ohh and Dale it is probably time in the not too distant future to think about another battery if yours is at least a couple of years old.
I like the ones Wally World sells. Have had excellent luck with them.

Hope Rich got his chicken shit cleaned up, without denting his forehead to many times.
Because the forecast said it was going to rain this afternoon, Lannie rearranged my Honey Do list, so my first task was to mow the dog yard (appx. 1 acre). Then, after a vape break, I went to the chicken coop and moved 6 more wheelbarrows of shit to the compost pile, but still did not finish (probably another 5-6 wheelbarrow loads in there) and... AND... it did NOT rain. Now I am sitting here, like Cromwell, debating an early bed time because, damn... OW OW OW and, on top of that, OW! Right, Crom?

Kinda like becoming our parents to some degree?
Well, both my parents are dead, so I guess eventually I will become like them

Comparing aches and pains and the causes is normal. Trying to compete for whomever is more debilitated is nonsense. It would be damn hard to find two people in identical shape when they get up their in years. So, it's just semantics. My mother and I have very similar health problems. Sometimes, I hurt myself more than she does, but I'm also a lot more active than she is.
Trust me. I am not in competition with Rich over this BS. I apologize if anyone thought I was.

Apologies for my unthinking comment.
I was not targeting anyone at all.

But I am worse off than anyone! :D
NOT... and damned glad of it.

I'd rather not buy one, since I keep getting new ones every year, at Autozone. You would think they would change manufacturers rather than deal with replacing batteries every year. I guess most folks are not starting and stopping numerous times a day, which prolly kills um faster.

If you can keep on getting them for free that is the best deal.

Doing good here Rich been busy in the garden trying to get it done then watering it, it's a dry spring here
Lannie has been out watering the seeds she planted in the raised beds and mineral tubs. I need to make another pass or two on the flats with the tiller before she can plant the squash and cukes and stuff.

Mr Juicy is binge watching SuperGirl and we are stuck in a hotel in Anchorage and it is really getting on my nerves
You need headphones and a MP3 player.
I have tried to get into the new Marvel shows but just cannot do it....

Back for a follow up on Mr Juicy's neck job?

Same here I just hide in my room and shut the door when the wife is watching her dead body and cop shows....
I make the hubby watch TV in the bedroom, especially when he watches crap like Spongebob Nopants. I can't sit down and watch anything with him. He is the type that switches channels every time a commercial comes on, so I'd miss half of whatever it is I want to watch. Right now, its Stephen Colbert.

So much of that hack and gore stuff on anymore
I used to ask why so many people watch so many of those stupid shows, then it struck me like lightning: because they have that damn smart phone in their hands all day (texting and facebook), they do not have a life of their own and never do anything that even remotely contains a little action and adventure, so they live vicariously through those stupid TV series,

I tried that strategy for awhile but got tired of not being able to use the rest of the house without hearing his thunderous TV

Got the point through to him by hogging the TV for a couple of weeks a few years ago and blaring the tedium of PBS documentaries, British period pieces and the occasional dose of CSpan
