I was reading on the news regarding the fire in Colorado, they were calling for possible snow down to 5500 feet....that is nuts for June.
Yeah, totally insane. But that is the Rockies and 5500 is over a mile high. I am at 3000 feet here, so if it snowed, it would likely be thundersnow and not stick.

You would really need to read their forum....it reminds me of being in third of fourth grade, if you say something derogatory about anything, you may get your hand slapped with a wooden ruler.
Sounds like nuns in a Catholic school. No thanks.

This is why so many of us here on VU wear an "ECF Refugee" badge. I was not kicked off, but their moderators pissed me off too many times, so I came here. I occasionally pop in over there to talk to a few old friends who have yet to get disgusted enough to leave.

I really think it's going to be a short summer. Even here, it's usually in the low 100's by now...I don't know if it even hit 100 yet, may have but doesn't feel like it.

I reviewed the rules at ecf. They are actually worse than a now defunct virtual world that was known as Kaneva. I was once a mod at Kaneva, but was banned when an actual employee decided he didn't like me. ,,!,, them.

Last I looked, if I remember correctly. Their rules are about two full pages, possibly more.

In my neck of the woods, Baptists don't drink, unless it's the Johnny Walker Red mixed in a spoonful of sugar or the blackberry wine from under the sink, which are both "medicine."

Or the one-drink-a-night-to-help-me-sleep that grows from about 6 oz to about 32 oz over the course of a few months...

I have a terrible attitude about alcohol, never did anything but bad things in my life, but that's just me.

Hi @inspects, thanks for asking. Knees give me a fit at night sometimes. I slept for about five hours earlier, so they must not have been hurting too much. :D

Rich's and Lannie's orchard is just beautiful, quite a reward but what a lot of hard work. Our woods around here are pretty wild, a lot of undergrowth and all, as much of the land was clear-cut about 20 years ago and it isn't quite mature enough to thin out near the ground.

Well at least you weren't into the Johnny Walker Red.....:teehee:

Blech. Makes me think of bouts of laryngitis when I was a kid. Scotch and granulated sugar will just about make a person heave. Especially if that person is a 9-year-old kid. Ooh shit, gives me shivers. :giggle:

I woke up a while ago wanting peanut butter crackers and a hit off of a vape. Since I've been up I've gone through half a tank of this custard I put together that's as close as I could come to GOC with flavors I have here already. It's damn good - I can only imagine how good the original is.

GOC is pretty darn good, but burned myself out with it...can't vape the same flavor for more than a day, if that.

Google tells me it's 8:54 pm in Hawaii. Damn, to be out on a tropical beach at this time of day, sounds fantastic.

Wish you were here!

The sun has been down quite awhile - only about 12 hours daily year round - but it was a nice day and its a great evening

Oh, I agree. I usually don't vape the same flavor for more than a few hours at a time. These mods here at my right hand have custard, cherry, peppermint, spumoni, peanut butter cookie, and cinnamon. I have to switch up, otherwise I can't taste anything.

I usually have five or six going at the same time too.

Have you seen any of the volcano "fallout?"

There was a lot of vog when I flew into Kona and you can definitely see the glow of the lava fountains from the house we rented, but haven't tried to go near the actual flow - damn stuff wiped out the Champaign Pond - my favorite hot spring ever!

To me that is scary on a whole 'nother level. Hurricanes are about as scary as it gets here, but hot molten rock that can eat its way through cinderblocks and brick, jeez!

I suppose there is no cleaning up once the eruptions stop. The lava hardens and it just stays there, wherever it flowed?

You still planning on the house you bid on....or try a different island?

I can't afford the other islands :p

I've always wondered about that whenever I hear of someone moving to California or Hawaii, or coastal Florida for that matter. Even aside from the cost of real estate, sometimes the everyday cost of living is outrageous.

Part of the reason we live where we do now is that we realized it was for retirement, and it's really cheap to live here.

The cost of living on the big island is way less expensive than where I live in Alaska hands down :cloud:

I was looking at property prices a couple years ago, I was kinda shocked at the low cost of homes on the big island. Still wish I would have chosen Hawaii over EC, but it's too late now.....

Is there much of a tourist industry on the big island? Have never been to Hawaii, really haven't traveled much out of the South. I did get to California four times, to Texas once, Philadelphia twice, and to NYC once (that was enough).

Think New York must be a love-it-or-hate-it kind of place. I'm in the hate-it group.
