Things are starting to get a little better here
several days ago I fell square on my butt and think I broke my tail bone:eek: really hurts but I have been there before
so I have had my share of sucky
sounds like you have had a full day for an old phart my friend:)
Sorry about the tail bone...
Ouchy.
Had a restful day compared to most.
Should have been out drilling some holes in the sidewalk and poking rebar back in them to join the Ramp base to the sidewalk.
Dow that and a bit of remesh and ready to pour...
Will get my shiny new concrete mixer out. park on sidewalk and back trailer of concrete bags up to it and shovel concrete into the mixer and get it all dirty... Can dump mixer straight into ramp footer.

Gotta work smarter when an old phart.

We are old, Jimi, and as such, we are entitled to complain constantly (or so I have heard). :)

As for me, I have a continual SSDD thing going on. Favorite doggie died, then a couple days ago, a new kitten got himself stuck outside during a nasty thunderstorm and when we found him, we thought he was dead (very cold, very wet), but noticed he was still barely breathing, so I sat in the garage for a couple hours drying him and giving him my body heat and some energy. Thought he might recover because he perked up, but the next day he died. Then an old cat we have had for about 18 years walked off into the wild and never returned. I suspect she went to find a place to die (cats seem to prefer to die alone). And, as you might have already read here, the Bobcat engine blew up right after the final snow storm and I am still looking to finance the $3-4000 it will cost to get a new engine. And the "to do" list just keeps getting longer because the weather is not cooperating and... and on and on and on... and both of us have more pains than we can handle and... Oh well, such is life for old pharts.

You two have had a bad string of luck, sorry about the dog and the kitties, sounds just like old phart luck:gaah:. I remember Bob ailing and hope you find a good replacement heart for him. Yes that dreaded old phart to do list, mine is so long I trip on it:giggle:

Our forecast suggests that we will have afternoon/evening thunderstorms every day for the next week. NOT normal for South Dakota.
It's been getting humid here lately, quite odd for June....usually not until the middle of July humidity begins kicking in. The overcast skies lately are an anomaly too.

Was digging through the vines in the garden this evening and found a couple pretty good size watermelons. The honeydew look like their ready to pick already, I noticed the sun is beginning to cook the top potions, so I put some more vines on top.

How do you cool your melons when several come at one time? Watermelon rind had more nutrients than the fruit inside

First time I've ever grown melons, I have no idea what I'm doing.....but I have pickled watermelon rind in the past, good stuff.

I love just garlic vinegar and oil on a salad, or any veggies for that matter.

Want to make fermented black garlic. Supposed to be delicious.

To keep them you need to cool them when you pick them, it keeps them crisp and juicy and they wont store long if you don't cool them. Farmers around here use the creek or a small pond to do a big load. For a few cool them in your fridge for a couple hours will do.

I do have a vampire problem, seems they are always wanting a piece of my arm
Damn near every time I have to see the doctor, they send me to some place they call "The Lab," which is a just a secret code they use for "Vampire Cave" because they always steal blood from my arm. I have called them "vampires" to their faces and they just grin and tell me to hold steady, this won't hurt much... good thing this body can make lots of blood because I lose some of it nearly every day here on the farm too. Oh well...

I think it is time for me to crawl under the covers too and get some beauty rest. I must not be getting enough of it because every morning I keep seeing an old man in the mirror, so obviously it isn't working. Sigh...

Was driving toward home at 12:30 today, the temp was about 95....which is generally absolutely unheard of during the middle of June, should be at least 105+++. Was watering my self growing garden tonight, felt almost chilly after the lawn sprinklers went off, evap cooling ta-boot.....gorgeous day.....:vino:

I hear that one, Crom.

Hey, here's a fun forecast: This morning was supposed to be partly cloudy with no chance of rain. This afternoon was possible thunderbumpers in the area. So early this morning, Lannie sees what appears to be fog in the distance coming toward us. So she goes down to her computer to check the weather because that ain't supposed to be there. Then she hears two semi-trucks smashing into each other at 100 mph and comes back upstairs to find that the "fog" was actually extremely heavy rain -- so heavy that visibility was reduced to less than 50 feet and she can't get the windows closed before the inside of the house was soaked. That went on for about 15 minutes and she went back to her computer to check the doppler to see how much more of this crap we were gonna get. The doppler indicates that there is no rain anywhere in the whole state. Pardon me, but bull fucking shit you stupid assholes! You mean to tell me that your damn radar cannot see what is obviously a thunderhead -- not raining but the weather gods are pouring it out in 100,000 gallon buckets? Oh, and the afternoon thunderstorms never happened.

And after morning chores, the two of us tried cleaning all the shit out of the cow barn. Lannie forked and I pushed the wheelbarrow outside through deep mud to dump it. Both of us gave into our pains after only getting about a third of it cleaned up. To be continued after a couple days recuperation :(.
