The doctor I had prior to my current one prescribed me hydrocodone5s, but refused to refer me to anyone that would address the issues that caused the pain I needed the prescription for.
So, I found a different doctor who would. She won't prescribe narcotics, and I'm fine with that. The surgeon that did my spine surgery prescribed the hydrocodone10s, despite the fact that I used less than 1/3 the morphine she expected me to while in the hospital for my 3 day in-hospital recovery. That one prescription lasted me quite some time, since I cut those in half, and took one half per day to quell the post surgical pain.

HiYa Sarah, That was a wise move on your part to change Dr.'s and find one that would address the root of the problem instead of just masking the pain.

Hiya Jimi.
The old quack gave me more reasons to drop him. Some lady came in complaining about tummy pain. He gave her a shot. By the time she got bout the door, she collapsed, and an ambulance had to be called. He also talked about other patients with his patients. No confidentiality.
Never mind the state medical board. He has already been sanctioned three times, and yet is still allowed to practice medicine.

G'evenin pharts ... just checking in for a bit before I toddle off to bed. Think I'm coming down with another cold or something, but still have high hopes for tomorrow :)

Was helping out our daughter with some business math for a course she's taking but I'm totally brain dead now. It'll have to wait until tomorrow, if I can get my head around it then. Been too long since I've done that stuff, but I do enjoy messing with it. Waking up some brain cells is always a good thing too IMO :giggle:

Hope you have a better day tomorrow too Jimi

By taking IQ tests throughout the years, I have discovered that the phrase "use it or lose it" is very valid. The more research I do, the better my brain works, the higher the number. The less I did, the number went down. So I developed a new philosophy: Learn something new every day or you have wasted that day.

Yep, but I am learning 1 thing per day and forgetting 2 it seems.

Good super early-morning Old Pharts.

Anybody love Alison Krauss and Union Station?

I have a performance of theirs (PBS Soundstage) that I recorded a good while ago on the DVR, so playing it this morning. Jerry Douglas on that dobro, lord have mercy, just makes my heart go pitty-pat. What a fabulous way to wake up on a Friday (yay!) morning. Now all I need is a nice fresh cup of coffee...yup.

Hubbs is still asleep in the next room, or I'd have the aux speakers on and the TV cranked up, oh, if only. :inlove:

Hope you all have a lovely day. It's back to the office for me again today, then more snow expected here over the weekend. Makes no sense at all.

Very funny Dale - don't roast to death down there

Is anyone roasting yet? Heck, when we were down in Florida a couple of weeks ago, it wasn't much warmer there than it is here. Odd weather this year. Seems like any more I say that every year, though. Weather is just different now than it used to be - so much more unpredictable.

Alison is awesome, but I'm still just plain puzzled by Robert Plant showing up with her on some show I saw. That's a real head scratcher. I like rock, and I like bluegrass, but they don't have too much in common... at least, not Plant's version of rock, anyway.

I actually have the CD she made with Robert, and I cannot listen to it. I tried, but...no. Like you said, a head scratcher.

A co-worker and I went to see Alison & Union Station a few years ago in an outdoor venue near Raleigh. Someone had complained about some of the speakers being too loud, so the numbskulls at the venue turned the whole array of outer speakers off, then couldn't get them turned back on. We couldn't understand a thing Alison said through their whole part of the concert.

They finally got the speakers running again about 5 minutes into Willie Nelson, at which time we were ready to leave, because all the confrontational, obnoxious drunks came out of the woodwork. I'd really prefer not to get puked on or get into a verbal altercation, which isn't hard to do when people are shitfaced.

Never. Again.

ROFL!! The pure obnoxiousness of drunk people and their tendency to vomit is precisely why I don't go to concerts anymore. The last 2 shows I went to were both Yes -- which doesn't tend to attract the same type of drunk obnoxious elements, but even so, saw one guy with his face in a trashcan. I swear, alcohol is just evil. People who aren't alcoholics don't have the tolerance to be able to refrain from vomiting, or act halfway sensible if they've had even a LITTLE too much, and people who are alcoholics just get belligerent or sloppy.

I always thought it was too bad that my alcoholic genes meant I didn't throw up, the very first time I got really drunk -- because if I had done so, I'd never have taken another drink in my life, that is for damn sure. Throwing up is A FATE WORSE THAN DEATH. I recently looked it up online, and yep, my phobia has a name which is exactly the name I've always given it -- emetophobia -- and apparently people with that phobia tend to not ever drink -- if they're not alcoholics, I guess! At least my phobia served to notify me when it was time to desist, since any compromise of liver function nearly always means... worshipping that fucking porcelain goddess. When I got to the point that continuing to drink was going to mean doing that on a daily basis... IT WAS WAY PAST TIME TO QUIT!!!!!!!!

:D

Good evening folks,

Don't know if anyone is interested, but I got a nice mod for an obscenely cheap price and wanted to pass it along in case anyone's in the market.

Aspire Pegasus (the full size one, 70w) in a brushed gunmetal color, from CityofVape.com for $17.95 plus shipping. I used a coupon code (Instagram213) and got 10% off that, and shipping was $4.66, so whole thing was $20.81.

On the website they list colors brushed brass and brushed chrome. I ordered the brushed chrome, and then received an e-mail that they were out of stock on the brushed chrome, but they said they had the brushed gunmetal. Actually I like this one even better.

I had a Pegasus Mini before, gave it to my sister, and she promptly broke it. This one is more substantial than the Mini, has some weight to it, but still a good size for either a man or woman, unless hands are extremely large or small. I am really pleased.

Hope you are all well tonight. Hope no one is in inordinate pain or overly exhausted. We Old Pharts have to think about things like that.

Long, boring day at the office. Had various calls to make regarding the accident my son was in last Saturday. Came to terms with my insurance company and that turned out better than I expected, so improved my spirits a lot.

So, do tell. What's up? Oh @JuicyLucy , I started a conversation with you and put that barbecue recipe in it.

I have a couple rants tonight, but we'll just start with a tired old one: The F'ed up Weather Guessers.

Three days ago, the forecast for my area for today was sunny and 57 degrees, so I planned to do some serious outside work today. Two days ago, they dropped the temperature to 49. OK, I could still do what I wanted. Yesterday, they dropped the temperature to 42 and added a couple clouds. Today, when I got up, it was overcast and raining and so foggy, I could not see the road out in front of our house (50 yards away). Wind was going about 40 mph. Checking the computer showed that there was a huge weather system stretched all across Wyoming, eastern Montana, northern South Dakota and all of North Dakota, snowing like hell, and the blizzard conditions reached down to only a few miles north of us. Our high temperature for today? 36 degrees! What the hell happened to 57 and why couldn't these high tech forecasters with all their millions of dollars of computers and equipment see this storm a few days ago? When I was a USAF weather forecaster, with no computers, hand-drawn maps and teletype printouts hanging on the wall in front of me, I could forecast when the first raindrop would fall many days in advance. How did modern weather people become so fucking stupid?

The secret is they never were smart about weather forecasting.
They were just luckier in the past?

So may constantly changing variable involved in weather forecasting...

You do realize that global warming is caused by bovine flatulence don't ya?

I think that's why I can't remember a weather forecast to save my life. They're never right anyway. Why waste a brain cell that might be busy with something else?
