How is the cow doing, Rich?....hopefully good.
Much better, but not totally out of the woods either. And both Lannie and I are nursing pains in places we didn't even know we could have pains. One of the big problems is we both have this silly attitude that the animals' health and welfare comes first, so we usually overdo it. I also went over to another neighboring ranch today and picked up 600 pounds of wheat for our chickens and unloaded that in the garage. Yeah, remember me? The guy with the broken back? Well, often there is a real lack of common sense around here......... the work needs to be done, so we're gonna do it.

That's good to hear she's doing better. I'm sure you and Lannie feel the same way.

Cricket seems to be totally recovered now, but I'm keeping a sharp eye on her for any signs of a relapse. Right now she and her baby are in the barn yelling at the top of their respective lungs, because the baby (her name is Evelyn) is locked up in the calf stall so I can get some milk this morning. It is a cacophony of chaos out there...

And yeah, I used to use epsom salts on my tomatoes, too, but it didn't seem to make much difference in their growth (we have GOOD compost). Mostly it's used to prevent blossom-end rot, but we don't have a big problem with that, so I haven't bothered using it in recent years.

I've got a new keyboard now, which is better than the one I had the last few days, but still strange, and it's kinda hard to type fast. I need to get a little more practice on this thing before I feel comfortable with it.

I hate change. :(

Until Jimi, neither have I. Unless the "salt" in epsom salt is radically different than table salts or canning salts, it will actually kill most "fresh water" plants. Whenever Lannie does a kitchen project that ends up having an excess of salt water, I alwasy take it outside and pour it on the driveway. It always kills the weeds in that spot of the driveway. I also note that, when I lived in Tucson and had one of those water cleaners/filters that used salt, a spill of that stuff prevented anything from growing in that spot for the remainder of the time I lived there. Just an FYI. But I do not know the chemical composition of the "salt" in epsom salt and Jimi says it works for him, so take it for what it is worth. But DO put magnesium on the plants if you have acidic soil, and maybe there is more mag in epsom salt than there is salt and that is why it works for Jimi. Who knows.......

Epsom Salt is Magnesium Sulfate, a combination of magnesium and sulfur, two nutrients that plants need and thrive on. I don't for the life of know why they call it "salt' but I have used it on my plants for, um, 50 some years with excellent results and it's a natural substance. It's a double bonus for peppers as they are sulfur lovers anyway. A little Epsom Salt and crushed egg shells does wonders for pretty much all garden plants. TRY IT, you WONT be sorry:).

MgSO4 - I use it for aquatic plants. I used straight run grocery store stuff - you can buy it repacked for aquatic plants at quadruple the price, exact same stuff.

Vaping a Merlin on a Kbox mini right now.
26 watts of tasty.

come to think of it it seems like the only 2 mods I have used in the last 6 months or so are the Kbox Minis and Pico Squeezes.
And the OG Merlin RTA's and Wasp Nanos.

Getting set in my ways like an old Phart should?

Might need to order a couple more Merlins?

I did not know that (until today). :) The good part is that we do not need it anymore because our combination of horse shit, cow shit, chicken shit, weeds, grass, etc., (AKA Compost) provide everything our 'maters need. Anyway, because of the confusion as to what epsom salt actually is (magnesium sulfate) and why the use of the word "salt" when there is no salt in this product. Ah, but there is! The mistake is to use the common definition (sodium chloride, NaCl, two deadly chemicals when combined make common table salt), but it fits epsom salts well when you use only the definition used by chemists, such as: "A salt is an ionic compound that can be formed by the neutralization reaction of an acid and a base. Salts are composed of related numbers of cations (positively charged ions) and anions (negative ions) so that the product is electrically neutral (without a net charge). These component ions can be inorganic, such as chloride (Cl), or organic, such as acetate (CH3CO2); and can be monatomic, such as fluoride (F), or polyatomic, such as sulfate (SO24)." So, did that make more sense? It is, because of it chemical makeup, defined as a salt... but don't eat it on your eggs.

I do not know exactly what I did to myself on Saturday and Sunday with all this rush-around cow fiasco, but it obviously was more than my Old Phart body could tolerate. Today, other than helping Lannie a bit with the milking and routine chores, I did nothing but lie on the bed for about three hours. Seems when I stand or even sit upright (I am pushing that one right now), I hurt enough to want to cry (and tough old pharts like me seldom ever allow ourselves to shed a tear), but while lying flat on my back, there is very little pain, so that's what I have to do for awhile I guess.

Still trying to find ours under the bind weed and purslane. I know there's a bunch in the somewhere. Had ham and cheese sandwich for dinner with fresh 'maters from the garden. Yummy.
I like just ole tomato sandwiches.....delis....especially HOMEgrown maters....can't eat store bought tomatoes no matter where they come from....garbage...even the so-called fresh organic.

For anyone who thinks the word "organic" means what it used to mean, they are radically fooling themselves. The FDA has introduced so many loopholes in the definitions of things these days that nothing is what you think it is. Even "cheese" only has to be 51% real cheese to be called that. There is almost nothing in a grocery store that truly is what they want you to believe it is.

And some only patronize specialty grocery stores that lie and claim they are like farmer's markets... everything is organic or "all natural" -- at two or three times the price for the same crap they could buy at Wally World.

Anyway, hate to bail out on ya, Dale, but it hurts too much to sit here, so I'm going to bed now. Hopefully, I'll catch ya tomorrow.
