Hi Gang,
Hard night last night. Woke up about every hour with leg cramps (happens a lot from driving and shopping/trudging around big stores too much) and had to rub cream on them and, in some cases, get out of bed and walk around until the cramps stopped. BUT, the long drives were not over. I had to go back to Sturgis today (add 150 miles to yesterday's 250 miles) to get my driver's license renewed. I stopped in at DMV yesterday, only to discover that they are only open one day a week and that day is Thursday. A town of 7,000+ and DMV is only open one day a week? Well, my license expired last Saturday (they always croak on your birthday in this state), so I figured I better re-up this damn thing ASAP. But there is good news. They took the vision restriction off (MUST have three mirrors), even though I MUST wear glasses due to being legally blind in my right eye. Why did they remove that restriction? Because, with glasses on, I passed the vision test. Now, don't tell them, but I really could not read their damn chart, but ever since I got this problem, I have been using a tactic called "logical reconstruction." That is, even if what you are looking at is too fuzzy to actually tell what it is, you can often tell what it is not, then go through your mental list of possibilities and guess what it is most likely to be. So, while I could not really read the letters, I managed to guess well enough to pass their test. But then, why should they care? All they really need to know is that I can "guess" that red octagonal sign says "STOP" and comply.
