Damn full speed on a stagger fuse with those gauges is pretty elite. I can get a steady medium speed when I'm not skipping grooves, but when I go for the skip it happens. Thanks as always for the advice. I'm using a weight to stagger my ribbon stacks still because I keep getting twists when I paraclap(too much tension I believe). Certainly gave me something to think about because the last time I tried to skip fuse round wire frames it was easier perhaps due to being done at a better angle.
Are you not participating in Coil wars civil wars? Would be cool to see you and whiteowl84 in on it but since they're using real names I don't recognize anyone.
You mean coil wars on FB?
The participants were picked randomly so it's basically a competition between 3 or 4 good builders and some people who can make simple stuff.

When I paraclap I like to keep the strands at just forward of 90, it makes the clapton straight up and down so when I go to fuse it there is barely any angle at all. If your wire is centered in the drill and spins smooth then you just need to find the angle and tension to mimic the strand you removed....I like to fuse at full speed so after I stumbled upon this its been what Ive done ever since.

Any how here's some Pitchforks I made the day before yesterday:

I also got the Gorge yesterday. A Single Coil RDA that @advkenofficial brought me in on during its beta stages. They were kind enough to use my sketch of the word gorge for the logo...I thought that was kind of cool. Anyways for those who decide to get one...make sure your buckled, this thing is a beast!

So many advanced builds on here and here comes the new kid!

First build ever. I picked up a TM squared RDA on sale over the weekend so that's the base. 24g Kanthal A2. I did a bit of tinkering after the first two pictures to get it all lined up better since one coil was heating slightly faster than the other.

Y'all let me know if you see anything glaringly bad/wrong here and I'm open to any and all advice since I want to get to advanced builds one day.

Nothing at all wrong with that build.

Definitely looks better than my first build. Most likely better than my first half dozen builds. Looks like you nailed the simple build. Best of luck and keep your patience with advanced builds.

Nice work and welcome to the world of wire!

Looks good! Great job. :)

...my first 3 core alien... got enough for one coil...
...my biggest problem is keeping the cores flat... i've tried paper clips, ribbon wire and even a binder clip...
...cores always want to twist on each other after a bit...

...anyways i was stoked i got this much to actually wrap and install...

Hey great first attempt!

Hehe tricky the first one because your having to kinda concentrate on loads of stuff at once eventually even stopping and starting becomes easier to the point all you need to think about it maintaining tension... holding lead at same angle which are the important bits other than prep in the first place

Here's my first little simple hybrid build. I took the advise that Raymo passed out earlier and decided to try one...at least to see how it all kind of works. I wish I could go back in time and clapton the exposed core wires with some 40g or something but I didnt. Next time. Either way it vapes pretty good, flavor is alright (but a strait alien is better) and it looks pretty neat! Thanks for the tips Ray0524172252_HDR.jpg 0524172255_HDR.jpg

Hey man have you tried using a higher gauge wire for the alien wraps? I'm thinking that your cores might be collapsing cause your wrap wire is so thick. Nice work though! How are you liking the vape you get off that?

Me? If so it's the Digiflavor Pilgrim rdta. I was really skeptical at first using this thing. Once I figured out how it worked I love it! I've used a few other rdta's but this one is special. It has a inner chamber that closes the deck off from everything kinda like a regular rta. Doing that makes the deck smaller though. Its the same size deck as the Griffin 25...the first griffin 25 lol

Set your cores up like I do and they can't collapse.
Using 36g would make it easier too.
Bigger wraps need more tension.

...love it! i normally use fused claptons... i assume like most people when starting building my goal was to be able to make aliens :p

...just have to prefect it now ;).... loads of help/advice in these pages!

No kidding I told myself if I could just make aliens I'd be happy...then it was something else, and another lol. These guys in here really stepped up my skills by handing out useful knowledge. People that hang around this thread seem to progress super fast! You'll get those aliens perfected soon I know it!

I'm following you on Instagram but not sure how to check for the streams, all I see are build pics (which are amazing enough) is there a way to watch your past streams? I'm noob at Instagram. I first noticed you on the original coil wars, it was a great season. A lot of badass builds.

I pretty much feel like I'm learning through trial and error. Building in the dark if you will hah. You guys ever plan out a build in your head and then when you go to do it something goes wrong and you end up having to change your plan? I was trying to do a layered pitchfork with 3 'layers' but once I had my spaced Clapton and first set of ribbon on it I couldn't skip 2 spaces because the angle was all jacked up and not making the 'pitchfork' shape, so I had to skip just one. Then same thing happens on 2nd ribbon stack so I scratch that and just go to fuse it. It came out alright in the end, but it wasn't what I originally saw in my head when I started. Pretty much lack of experience I guess. pitchfork.3.jpg

You have to use 40g to do a full pitchfork or the angles will be jacked up like you said. Looks good though.

That's one of the main reasons I jump on and watch your live IG streams, you explain and inform what your doing and how you do it with tips along the way. Which has to be friggen tough while your doing the advanced builds you do.

I don't know what it is I'm doing but I can't seem to frame staples or ribbon wire at all. I just keep trying but it isn't getting any better. I try and really concentrate on the prep but it always seems to mess up or twist or be too loose regardless. I'm thinking it's something I do while prepping the ribbon, but I've done staple coils successfully. I dunno I just keep at it thanks to you guys posting pics and live feeds which motivate me to build. Right on Ray keep up the great work man.

This is another atty with those Skill posts. I'm thinking companies are seeing how good the Skill really is and taking their post ideas from VapersMD or TwistedMesses, whoever came up with them. But I was watching your stream earlier today and there was an early part where ppl were asking ?'s on clones and you said the Skywalker rda has the same build deck and with that clone Skill you bought on eBay. I'm very eager to hear from ya when you get the skywalker in and see if the clone Skill cap fits. Like you said then you could get a pretty spot on Skill clone for 25$. I still think I will purchase an authentic Skill and maybe a SS one. But I really wanna grab one of those G24's. Anyway hope your having a good wknd dude.

Thanks. That thought did cross my mind, I was thinking since 40g is so tiny, the spacings are smaller and therefore somehow the angles would all align better. I used 38g so was kinda close but I could tell under a magnifier that the angles almost overlapped the first fuse. Also I used .3 ribbon with 28g frames and the end a single ply popped out and onto the side, I think .4R would be better next time.
I want to try something like KingPins badass enigma/double hump inlay something or other but not sure about the cores yet with the whole decore being 6x less than core and same size as the frame.

Not my goon sorry forgot to mention that. I was kinda iffy on it after the resistance jumping issue. But it was very nice to build on for sure.

Nice what about up the other end?

Also what did these ohm out at? And what diameter did you use matey?

One last question do you use a power drill or hand drill for final fuse?

Staggering method was the button trick worked like a charm but a pain in the ass to get started IMO. Maybe I was doing something wrong?

So after staggering and cutting it to 7" pieces. The last piece which is still attached to the Swvl I left it there and used that as my anchor. All 6 other pieces were bound to that one still attached to the Swvl. No ribbon sliders were used so the stagger could move freely. (Hope this makes sense...)

I wrapped it around a 3.5mm bit and single Coil was 0.18.

The button is a pain in the ass ...I loop my wire just over the final space on the clapton so it's legs are hanging down each side, feed my button on and attach a wooden clothes peg to push the button as close as possible...I then twist it once ....so much easier than trying to fart ass about tying it on ...that's how it found it best works for me lol

Damn that's low no dual coils on that one :( deffo got to give this a go thanks for the tips ;)

I saw someone in this thread mention/explain boneyard coils, and I thought the idea of flattening twisted wire was cool, so I tried it out and this is what I came up with.

Clapton about an inch or so by freehand until you can attach the button such a way that it doesn't touch the chuck of the drill. Use a temporary piece of masking tape to hold the button in place whilst you tie it to your core wire. A bit of masking tape wrapped around the core sticking halfway out of the drill acts like a cushion to help prevent the core from breaking at the sharp edges of the chuck of the drill. I hope this helps. :)

Never did any successful staggering.

Tried the button trick. Pretty pleased with the results.

Nice BK! Very tight get them on and vape em!

next wack some ribbon wire in the middle and you have yourself one of the best tasting coils there is :) framed staple staggered fused claptons =awesomesauce! If that's 26g use 0.4x0.1 ribbon in the middle try 4 or 6 stacked vertically to start with :)

Yep. That is the plan. Gonna rock 6x0.4 2x28 with 36g. Just had to test out the staggered fused first with the button. I think it was a success! Made it virtually automatic wrapping.
