and i agree, frames are not required at all. i do a lot of .3mm plain staple builds in various configs ranging from unregulated series to low resistance parallel builds and i love them.
I gave up on the 20 ply .3 alien today and turned it into this

actually managed to get a coil out of that little piece lol 2nd fralien, first with < 32g wrap

nice work @william.osendott you gotta be a bit more gentle with 38, but i find it much easier to work with smaller gauge wrap for aliens (less tension). looks like beautiful work man

I remember the first time I started making claptons, etc. and trying 38g and thinking "there's no way" lol now, it's all use. Still though, never could alien with anything smaller than 32 until tonight. (but to be fair, never could alien period until a couple weeks ago lol made my first fralien last night I believe it was. maybe night before) anyways, thanks, didn't have a lot to work with since I ran out of decore, luckily the semi-bare part on the leg is hidden by the deck. vapes beautifully.nice work @william.osendott

This is one of my favorite Doge configs. 24g Kathal wrapped 5-6 times around a squarish roughly 3mm dental scraper. Once it comes off it sort of starts to rotate. I arrange them like a stereo microphone array and get it right around .38. Very good airflow across the coils, heats very predictable and just works very well in this atty.

Thanks everyone for the info. The wire just looks so tiny. Might give it a shot in the morning. Gotta make time though got a big show Tom night so most of my time this week was spent on snare and high hat work unfortunately. So f'n boring Sometimes.

It's pretty amazing for $10. Nothing wrong with it at all, and very tiny. Easy to fix up if anything isnt tightened down or not connecting right

Good 100 attempts later managed to stop cores from collapsing. I wasn’t stretching my decor enough still not perfected but only been building 2 weeks 3x26g and 39g wrap all kan. Sat on broadside clone in dead rabbit good ramp up time and warm vape been trying lots of different coils and combos and this is the best I’ve found 
Try wrapping De core round old spool
That sounds like it would be really hard to keep the decore from getting stuck on itself, or overstretching it...I don't use VG anymore, that post was couple weeks ago
I used it on 39g was fine. We don’t get any where if you don’t try
an oops moment lead to this... looks pretty cool, getting ready to wrap it up and see how it vapes

cut it down from 5 wrap to 4, lowered the resistance to .14-.15ish vapes much better.. low coil mass works well on my pulse... looks pretty sweet toothere it is.. didn't have enough for duals, so had to parallel it with a strand of 28g.. ohms out around .22-.23 which is high for me, but I can live with it.. ended up as follows 3*28g screwed up alien wrapped with 38g flattened with nylon pliers then parallel wrapped with 28g all N80

I give props to everyone making staple coils. After the last hour trying to get the ribbon in line I say fuck it. I'll buy them from someone if I want to vape them that bad. Got some .8 and it's too thick. So .3 is so thin I cant get 6 plys to line up. Tried all the thread and video suggestions. Smacking it up ,flipping it, rubbing it down. Licking sticking. Im done. Gave it a shot I'll stick to fused claptons. I envy you guys for your patience and amazing vision.

Keep at it - you'll get it eventually. Both @raymo2u and myself were like "fuck this ribbon shit" a couple of years ago. But we eventually learned how to 'tame the beast' so to speak.
EDIT: Get some 0.5 to practice with. 0.8 is so wide that it's basically unusable - too low in resistance for most uses, and when you can use it, it just gets too damn hot. It'll overheat your mod. 0.5 is much easier to learn with, while still having usable qualities. Then try again with 0.4 or 0.3.
I’d try to give words of encouragement like everyone else and say just keep going for it, but I’ve been in the same boat as you for well over a year and can’t even stand seeing the few spools of ribbon wire I have, because it’s just this glaringly obvious hole in my building technique that is unsolvable for me...I’ve tried wetting it, running a bead of juice down the stack, folding it, I’ve even tried heat shrinking the ends...all result in failure and lost hours of time that I could’ve been building something I know how to build. I’ve still yet to vape ribbon wire coils ever because I do t buy pre-mades...but I’m happy with that now. Every couple of months I get it in my head to try it out again, only to be reminded that ribbon wire is the tool of the anti-Christ and is an abomination that should never be touched by the likes of me.
So, my advice? Hold onto the hate and fuck ribbon wire...congrats to those that can use it, but those spools of ribbon wire I have will only be useful in the capacity of paper-weights for me. Just my 2 cents

Ohhhh, sounds like you're wanting to stack the whole length at once, don't even look at the loose ends when you're folding, just zone in on that one inch piece around where you fold it, fold and pinch and pinch and...a wiggle and pinch
Hold the middle of the length before you fold it with your forefinger and thumb, then fold and pull all at once with your other forefinger and thumb, like a chain link - if you keep the fold pinched in one hand and pull with the other, should manage ... Then have binding wire ready
Well I got the folded loop down but for the life of me I couldn't get more than an half in from the bound loop to straighten out. I'll give it another shot. Just felt like throwing something so a tantrum is better than a drill. From what I hear anyways.

Throwing the drill isn’t so bad as long as you don’t damage the drill and are handy with drywall repair if any innocent walls are harmed. 2x2 gypsum patches can be picked up in the paint department at certain big box hardware stores and work well, and yes...I know from experience.

@ScReWbALL i felt the same way about staggered fuse when i was starting out. i failed to get it more than anything else (i got aliens easier). i finally got one clean pair, didnt like the vape and just fucked right off from staggerland for prolly a year. its my worst/most difficult technique still, but i can do it now at least. so far in all the builds i have been 'stuck' on, its usually one or two little things i have to change (100% of these 'things' have been prep related for me) and suddenly im good.

Off work today so going to try Staples again. I might try the squid doode way with no loops. I know @ScReWbALL does his coils freehand so maybe if I wrap slow enough I won't be whipping the wire back and forth.lol just have to find what works for me. I forgot last night to say, the day I got ribbon wire I just fiddled with it and scritched my head for an hour, then I got out masking tape and taped every single strand one at a time, one on top of the other, that though is Slow and Difficult (like rocket surgery) to line them up right, so I wouldn't really recommend it but...it is an option I guess lol

What company ribbon u using? Is it straight or curled up when u take it off the spool? And did u try to straighten it before u cut it off spool ? Stacking ribbon is 100x easier when it’s all Really straight.
I just keep running my wet fingers down the strands of ribbon .. I don’t try to stack them or anything just get them nice and wet. Then I put them threw my swivel hook, get even on both ends so middle of stack is ok the hook and then pull to fold them evenly. Take it off the hook, I wet my fingers again and run them down the stack a few times and then I tie up the folded end that was on the hook. The water will actually stack them for u as your running ur fingers down them. If I’m doing framed staples then I take my frames and line them up on the stack of ribbon and start tying it all together.... 90% of the time I don’t even check to see if it’s stacked right because I just know it will be after doing all this.
EDIT: i taught myself to stack on .5 ribbon. It’s actually still my favorite ribbon to use. Very easy to worth with if u get from the right companies/people

There’s really no better vape then framed staple variations. Pretty sure that’s a very popular opinion. It’s WELL worth the frustration of trying to learn to use it.....

Last time I tried messing with it and tossed it back to the graveyard, it landed in a box with a broken juice bottle apparently, so, it’s pretty much shot to try to use it now anyway as it sat soaking in juice for awhile (hence the label damage).
Edit: Oh, and yes, I straightened it while pulling it off the spool and there were no kinks or twist in the wire I was using...I can be a bit, well, we’ll call it OCD when it comes to doing my prep work...others may call it being meticulously anal in doing my prep work, lol, but I agree that solid prep work is a huge percentage of what can make or break a build...this is my Work Station after prepping for a run of triple Core 26/36 N80 Aliens

If u still have the .8(?) practice with that. It’s so worth it man. I’ll never vape just round wire again.... on a day to day basis at least.
Even if that .5 isn’t sticky, practice with it.... don’t gotta vape it, just practice stacking. Can’t hurt if u gonna toss it anyway!
