Believe it or not...I used a hand drill for the final fusing and it didn't take very long at all (maybe 5 minutes) because I didn't have to back up, hand drill is great for this stuff

I have GOT to remember to get a hand drill, I imagine fusing would be much easier on stagger variants with one.. btw, you've got the peglegerton (was that what was decided on as its name?? lol) down good..

...and then I remembered why I said I'd do it in a little while. it was because my drill was dead and I needed to put the battery on charge. Apparently batteries dont charge if you forget to put them on the charger, who knew right?? so now I wait...

oh, peg, what do you attach your wrap wire to with the clamps?? I've been kinda snagging it into the mouth of the clamp after its closed, but it's kinda janky

Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

I havent been using the clamps, but if I do I either poke it in beside the cores, or just tape it onto the clamp...I usually tape the wrap wire end to the drill

Whoa dude, that turned out super
thanks my queen :) it's actually 8ply instead of 10, forgot coil builder says 10 is a bit low. but yeah, it came out clean.

edit: maybe I shoulda checked steam engine instead, coulda prolly used 12 or so :/ idk, I changed my mind so many times I cant remember what I was thinking. originally wanted to run a 28g in the center, then a 30g twist.. haven't quite figured out how much ribbon affects final resistance like I have round wire

That's why I love 0.3 kanthal, I can pretty much stack as many as I want lucky I don't want to stack up 20 or more lol

So I just threw together a 40 over 26 alien coil (my first 40g alien). 6-3mm wraps. And I'm vaping a DIY sweetened Strawberry juice. The sweet notes and tart notes are more pronounced than off a 36 wrapped alien. Normal @Pegleg Meg? You use a lot of that tiny wire; right?

great to see some @Drake m builds after a tough day at work. nice work as always dude, welcome back

@BoostedTrini im glad to see you posting your builds as well. great builds so far man

@william.osendott i call her captain, but she is the queen of pirates imo lol

@Pegleg Meg great work as always  i see people calling you peg, meg etc (queen, superhero). i feel like i should start calling you leg just to be different...

my first 40g alien
congrats. thats hard as fook to get the hang of...and yeah imo it vapes a little differently than something as big as 36. there seems to be a point of diminishing return as you go smaller though, as its easier to gunk up with sweetener/coil crust...

Yes, I DIY too and noticed my flavors come out all the way with 40g aliens and 46 staples the best - I also think the little droplets are smaller, so they don't seem to spit as much as with lower gauge wraps, and finally Morten Oen says higher gauge wraps will let air slide around the coil better than "coarse claptons" which act almost like a wall to the air, he specifically said 42 and up but I think 40 is where I'm gonna stay for aliens lol

Trying something like a "mesh" coil, this one isn't really vapeaple because of the broken wrap and over-heating, but I like rainbow colors

The spacing is intentional

Gonna vape it anyway, For Science - 69 watts

Ermagerd, this thing is cloudy and tasty!!! It holds a lotttt of e-liquid, definitely going to try again without breaking things or overoxidizing

Has anyone thought about giving wattages attached to builds they've used. In my testing I've learnt that no one likes a wattage...only a temp and an output volume. What I have noticed is that higher gauge wraps perform better lower down but that can be explained by lower mass. So the closest reliable way I've come to judge builds is to test where the coils like to be(watt wise) as opposed to what I like and then make a change and see where that version likes to be and then judge the performance. An example would be a 6 ply of 0.4 framed in 28g and Aliened with 36g...with an ID of 3mm and 5(5.5) wraps...a pair of them, with my testing, likes to be in the 180-210w range depending on the liquid and not restricted by airflow. Same coil with 40g Alien and it likes to be 150-180 under the same conditions...but the 36g outperforms it if not limited by wattage(using it where it likes to be vs where I like to vape).

That's a great idea. That 22x.3 staple single coil up there works great at just 69 watts,

my 8x30/40 alien - 60-70 watts single coil

Dual coils I usually use between 60-88 watts, depending on how thick they are

I've been really impressed with fat kanthal 0.3 staples or lots of small gauge round cores, they heat up much faster than I'm used to with kanthal

That's a great idea.

I'll give it a go with the most common specs I do for shops:
Triple 28/38 Alien, 3mm, 5 wraps- 75-95w a pair...6 wraps - 90-110 a pair
Triple 27/36 Alien, 3mm, 5 wraps- 95-115 a pair...6 wraps - 110-135 a pair
Alien Framed Staple- 6 ply 0.3, 30g frames, 36g Alien, 3mm, 5 wraps- 125-145 a pair
Triple 26/36 Alien, 3mm, 5 wraps - 140-170 a pair...6 wraps- 160-190 a pair
I already gave the other Alien Framed Staple before.

I don't have much experience in single coils as there are extremely few atties I like there....but with the Zeus(the best I've used), 4mm works better than 3.5 and that works better than 3 and the best so far I've used is 4mm triple 26/36 Aliens with 5 wraps. 80-90w it is a very nice vape. Triple 27/36, 3.5mm with 5 wraps, very nice at 60-70w. My comfort zone is 130-140w with dual coils in a Supreme Plus and 120-130w with dual coils in a Drop...same builds in each...

My single coils are also 4mm, and I almost always use 3mm for dual coils and either 4 or 5 wraps depending on how wide they are

I don't know how it works, but I even like a single coil in the Drop

Getting a 75w squonker kinda forced me to experiment with single coils, and man I dig it. I'm trying to test out the theory that higher gauge wrap wire gunks up faster, also - been over a week with a sweet caramel custard and this coil is looking better than the cotton

IMG_20180531_133024~2.jpg

I used to swear I only liked bottom airflow and dual coils, but somehow I've been using one coil in the Drop for like 2 weeks, every day

From what I've done so far I find that gunking is dictated more by liquid used...then by wattage set...then by wrap size for the same cored coil. There is a zone, that I haven't figured out yet, that coils take longer than "usual" to gunk up.

From my experience, Kanthal needs the least power, then Nichrome80 then SS316L, for the same spec of coil on regulated devices.

this is correct. KA1 has the highest resistance followed by N80 then 316L having the lowest resistance. lower resistance heats up fast but pulls more amps from the battery thus using more power.

one bad spot and it's all I see lol

2*26g / 38g N80 framing 8*.4x.1KA1 fused with 40g N80

edit: shit, just found another :/ bonus points if you can find both

edit 2: bonus points if you find all three.. son of a bitch lol

Don't count...that never helps things lol

I've got to stop with sfc variants, but you can do so much...

started with just have 30g decores (off a 22g core) in the center, but I couldn't keep control of them so I had to stick another 30g through them :/ final spec:

26g N80 / 38g N80 framing 3*30g KA1 wrapped with 30g KA1 22g decores fused with 40g N80 *shew*

I have a feeling fusing is gonna have issues, maybe shoulda flattened those 30g things....
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

edit: or left the frames bare and fused the gaps of those stretched cores. eh, learned something...
