I personally treat them like a framed staple set up in the same way
take one peice and stagger ...reverse the drill to make it all nice and springy
Loop my ribbon round the swivel and bind, then loop the staggered framed and bind it all up...up the other end pull tight and bind inside the staggers... you can glue but don’t have to allow some movement in the spring ...clamp that down and put tension on it.
(...I might try actually snipping the Just wrap at the mid point before bending the frame next time)
Then slowly wind on the wrap pinching every now and then with nylon pliers to keep it flat
You won’t be able to reach the end cause it’ll get too tight in the springs but just leave it long enough to create a single or dual coil out of it when folded (12 or 24 inches needed on the staggered core add extra few spare for luck)
Keep lead close to 90 degrees and don’t pull too tight or the ribbon wants to twist
Erm does that make sense?
