I just followed the Ndevine tutorials and copied what he did exactly. There’s one that’s a second prerecorded build of the enigma and one called trying hedgehogs. He seemed to break it down pretty well. Both sides should be identical I think.

My dad is graciously taking my daughter swimming after dinner, so I'm going to re-make whatever the heck anyone wants to call the enigmahedgehogechidnawithshoulderpads thing, and take pictures of the stick before coiling

I have to say, some of these coils are stunning! I’m just starting to get into(read: use coils made by other people that I got in trades) more complex coils. True beauty here, everyone! Loving all the pictures.
That would be awesome if you could just get a shot at the stick! I would love to compare it to the patterns I’m getting. I did one that was okay last night but it wasn’t interlocked or stitched so it didn’t look much different than a mowhawk, it just had the bump on both sides. I didn’t think much of it and tossed it.

Decided to use the series deck option on the Titan for it's maiden voyage. The only mod I have (until the Titan PWM gets here) that it'll look good on is the H.O.G. clone I have so I figured I might as well beef up the coils to handle the voltage without getting too rambunctious. Decided on a pair of framed staples. 10 ply 0.4x0.1 KA1 cores with 28g KA1 frames, 40g N80 binding. 3.5mm I.D., 5/6 wraps, comes out to 0.43Ω.

The deck. Its weird. Leads need to be at a 90° angle, and turned sideways in the top post to avoid squishing the leads.

More braiding. Think I finally found a braiding groove where I don’t twist the wire up and I can go pretty fast. It snapped after an inch though, my 36g is pretty rough.

Anyway way he described it to me was you have a square core with ribbon stack with 2 frames sitting on top (of the vertical side of the stack) which creates a dent in the centre ...is a stubborn bastard of a build I’ve tried and failed multiple times

Thanks! 5 loop slentre braid. This coil vapes so good too they’re actually worth the work hah just wish I had the patience to make two in a row.
I dunno if I get a vote but I say you attempt hedgehogs again, my challenge is no color, four wraps each, and a shot from the top showing both coils!

Was it hard to keep the centre straight while braiding it? Do you use slider still and move them up as you go Chris always wanted to try this build it’s on my checklist
I make a stick with the loop at one end and glue it then I get the ribbons wet with vg and slide a ribbon slider from the loop toward the end and glue that. I tried with a slider before, but the braid gets snagged on it constantly. The stick stays pretty straight on its own as long as you don’t jerk it or no one bumps into you. The braid squeezes it together straight and square. The stick only has to be like 4 inches, I wouldn’t wanna try two on one stick cause I think then the ribbons would start to get wonky, and that’s just more potentially wasted ribbon wire hehe.
Edit: I make the stick about 6 inches so I have room Incase the ribbon gets wierd, so I can just snip the last inch

I love a good stagger...I can do em, but hate doing em. For whatever reason; Alien variations flow from my fingers like silk, but a stagger anything is like getting barbed wire from my asshole...

I used to feel the same lol. I don't enjoy the staggered vapes as much as alien/fraliens.
I second this, and know the feeling all too well! Though I think mine is razor wire claptoned with barbed wire or the other way around...either way it’s horrible and anyone and anything in the general vicinity is in great danger when that thought of “I’ll think I’ll give staggering another shot..” pops into my head.
On a less related topic I just had someone poke their head in here, look around and simply say “There’s a fine line between Hobby and Addiction, and you’re flirting with it”...can’t a guy just make a couple of coils in peace?

im always lurking, i just dont have much in the way of time or builds lately. outside of the few builds i have posted in the last couple months, i have only built a few sets for some of my friends, and i never get to install/photograph those ones. i did a little prep today for a second attempt at a pitchfork, and i am really hoping to finish that tomorrow night.Thanks @mach1ne! I really appreciate it, I could get it tighter, it took a lot of practice to get it to the point that it’s at but you know the more you practice the tighter you get. Hahaha thanks Meg I could still do better but you know it comes with practice. I think the idea is to take breaks but never give up.
