I don’t normally do color shots because I use KP wire and it doesn’t seem to color that well compared to some other brands but I do think it vapes excellently. Here’s a shot where you can see a little color on my usual Fralien. It’s my favorite coil as far as just functionality. I’ve made some more complicated builds but I haven’t built anything that vapes quite as well. I feel like I need ribbon wire in my vape and there definitely is something about the alien wrap that does something for the taste. I do also like SSFCs and 40g framed staples for vaping purposes.

You can see just a little bit of golds and purple and the binding is tight. I do love a fresh coil.:coffee2:

Install the coils, remove the atty then scrub the coils with a soft bristle toothbrush, dish soap, and warm water. Don't touch the metal after washing. Any true vaping alloys (KP is known for accurate alloy compositions) will always color if clean. The worst offender to killing colors is oils from your fingers. It screws with the oxidation process, which is what causes the colors.

First test of the DPRO24 in single coil. Not sure it's going to be a good one ... Made it 3.5mm ID because I wanted it to eat up a bunch of the chamber. But I ran into the issue where the air only hits the bottom of the coil like this because of the angled airflow. It's not a bad vape ... but it lost a good chunk of flavor vs. dual.

28/38 Ni80, .43 ohm
Edit ... apparently this was a leftover SS coil from some I sold. I just grabbed it out of the spare jar. I don't build SS for myself. So, I must have accidentally thrown it in there. Was wondering why it tasted weird lmao ...

I finally learned how to color with some much needed advice from @WPMac. I did a color shot and the color came out beautiful but the coil wasn't that great so I will be posting what are revolutionary color shots for me very soon.
If you want to catch the progression of the color you need to slowly pulse at 15-20 watts. Just pulse enough to get a very slight glow then stop and look. Depending on your alloy will depend on how hot you need to get the metal to start coloring.

Looped wired behind the clap...took me like 10 tries...need to research other methods...gonna try the button tonight

Button method is the easiest I've found. Jewbster did a good tutorial on YouTube for staggering, uses a mini clamp. Worth a watch at least dude

There is a ton of methods out there. The 2 main ones are loop and para-clap.
With the loop there are a bunch of different ways to do it. @KarmicRage suggested the button. There's also finger loop and clip loop and weight loop ect ...
For para you can straight paraclap or use a clip or force para.

There's a video of jewebster doing his imprint method in the thread here not far back. I've tried it a number of times and when it works it is just amazing. I found it to be inconsistent though. Also I found it doesn't work great for anything bigger than 38. I made a post in the official stagger thread about force clapton for staggering. Mindforge has a couple videos of him using a clip for straight para and loop. There is just a million ways to do it and different things work for everyone. So do some research and ask some questions and try different techniques to figure out what works best for you.

My personal favorite is force-clapton. It is a waist of wire ... but in the end I find it to be the most consistent and I would rather waist wire getting it right then waist wire getting it wrong :) Para-clapton also gives consistent results but isn't as mindlessly easy as force. If you can get a clean clapton then you can get a clean forced para-clap. ***Note: this only works on round wire cores. It might be a good idea to learn to straight para-clap if you ever plan to stagger ribbon***

Started to watch one of his vids where he used an rda..his voice had me falling asleep...lol

I'm a bit like that with n.devine vids myself, just far too long for me to stay focused lol. The video I watched was for his multicore staggered fused claptons, wasn't all that long either. As @WPMac explained, there are loads of different ways to do it, it's a case of trial and error when getting it down but once you've got it you'll be flying from then on. Hope you manage to find a technique that works for you. As always don't forget to loosen up those staggers to make fusing just that bit easier. Good luck dude

Ok...i have 25ss no 26 anything i have 28ni80...have all the others tho. Ill try again tomorrow

32 is pretty big for an SFC. If you have some 36 try that. It will stagger better since it wont be so stiff. And it wont be so hot. 34 is doable but will still be pretty hot.

2nd attempt with the rda method
2x24ni80/32ni80
5 wrap
.13
But not vapeable, cap gets too hot. Running on a pulse 80 at 65w.
Suggestions?

Awesome. 24/32 is a lot of metal. I would try taking a wrap off so it’s 3.5 instead of 4.5 wraps and then stage it with bare 28g or 26g, if you have them, so that its 3.5 wraps sfc and 5.5 wraps of naked wire. So I if wire looks like “|” and sfc looks like “#”, it’ll look like..

|#|#|#|#| or maybe one less wrap, |#|#|#|

It’ll be low ohms, but try it at lower wattages first. That’s my idea anyway, might be better or might be worse lol. But I figure it’s making the coil just as heavy but more efficient due to less wrap wire to drive.

I'm gonna have no time to build during the next week and a half, so if you don't see any builds from me... I haven't given up. I just have a lot of stuff to take care of!:coffee2::tantrum::deadhorse::drunk::zombie:

When I return, I will know how to razorback!!!... At least I think I'll know how to razorback!!!... Let's hope I know how to razorback!!!

1st attempt at fused staggered claps
24x32x2 kanthal/32 kanthal
4 wrap
.12

I would definitely use a higher gauge for the binding. 32 is one of those odd gauges. It's not quite thick enough to be a core wire (in most circumstances) but it's not quite think enough to bind with. I know some people use 32g cores for aliens. I personally don't see the vaping appeal, but artistically if you can do that then it is most certainly an accomplishment. What I like to do when I stagger is stagger wrap with 36 gauge and then fuse with 38g. It seems to just want to slide right in and I can get into a groove even if I am skip fusing. I'd give 36g fused with 38g a try and see if you don't like it. Works for me.

After bother @raymo2u a lot with questions, it finally came out lol. Thanks for the hints man.

Brother you have some sick wire art! I'd love to see you coil it up I dunno if I've seen that from you lately. I could be totally wrong. I love to see good wrapping technique cause it's one of my weakest points. But seriously for an alien stagg that came out great!

@raymo2u... do you ever stop for a minute and realize it's crazy how good you are? Like, do you ever take a second to reflect and realize it is just absolutely insane how good you are at building? If not I'll think about it for you.:D Always amazing, always inspiring. Thank you for your art.
