Depends on how close your coil is to the airflow.The air is angled down. so the further away the coil is the lower it needs to be to get a direct stream. For a little bit I would put the cap on after install but before wicking and look down through the slots to gauge if the coil was right. Now I kinda got a feel for it.
Also works well for 150w+ series vaping. I'll have to try slamming it against the posts and a smaller ID. I've been stuck on 3 and 3.5 for a looong time now. A while back, when I was fresh into complex building, I had a number of bad experiences, concurrently, with smaller ID's. I just kinda steered clear of them after that. I should start experimenting again.Truth!! You can put like 3-4 mls in it.
I agree about dual being a little airy. That's when I just throw some ~.1 in it, blast at 135 watts, and suck air like it's my last breath
As far as placement ... if you look angled downward, following the pitch of the afc instead of head on into it, you will probably see your coils there

Interesting!!! I agree on the warmer coils. It doesn't do as well with 3 core aliens. That last up close shot through the airflow to the coil is exactly where I put mine. Though he does say that non-smooth coils do better a little higher ... will have to try that.
2.5mm ID (with a typical coil length of ~7mm-8mm so the build is a relatively small one in comparison) does work for me in any decent 24mm or 25mm RDA, and does so regardless of the airflow type. But that's only if the coils are 1/ positioned immediately at the center of the airflow streams (which can be perpendicular side or bottom or angled either downward or horizontal angled to create a vortex kind of effect... it really doesn't matter as long as there is at least some reasonable amount of restrictiveness going on in there so that the "streams" truly are streams that have a direct focus kind of effect...) and 2/ positioned at a close enough distance from the air holes, and BTW muted/diluted flavor resulting from too much airiness (chamber size...) can still be remedied by using a low profile drip tip... excepting of course if the wattage is so horrendously low that the speed of vapor production is what I like to call "not there".

Use a Butane Lighter (Pocket Torch), its easier and you can be much more creative. Just point the flame at one area and wait for it to glow orange, then slowly move it across the coil, depending on your distance from the coil, hand movement, and speed you can color the coil how you want.
6x30g aliens. I think these are my favorite coils. I’m always happy with the vape and I don’t have to waste my ribbon. I love wide coils, but I don’t like how hot and power hungry 4+ 28g cores can get.
