Here's some girth for yah.
Not as clean as I'd like. Had 1 piece of ribbon flip on me. Instead of just snipping it out, stupid me decided to slide it back up in. Oh well. Still a build to be proud of imo.
36 ply .3/28/40, 4mm ID, .05 ohms Ni80 in the Golem
Technically a vapable build (should come up to .07-.08 after firing)

I really enjoy looking at all these builds and I have made some exotic wire myself for the fun of it...it's a hobby I'd really enjoy, the only problem is I hate cotton wicks....rayon is a bit better.

Simple builds matter
Yes ... yes they do :D Regardless of how crazy/fun/complex we build ... simple builds are what most of us vape. Fused claps, framed staples, aliens, twisted, and even naked wire ... these are the things that satisfy the cravings. These are the ones that are important to the industry and individual vapers. For the most part, everything else is just for fun ... it's literally an art-form derived from jewelers' wire-crafting.

I agree something as simple as 2 twisted Clapton's can be so tasty.

Clapton a long length and fold it in half, then insert bare wire in the center and use a paperclip or ribbon wire to secure it, clapton this as flat as you can (use less tension on clapton wire)...simple builds you can do with just 2 types of wires...

Trying out some 26/36 again. I'm never really happy with the vape I get from these gauges. Every once in a while I try a set just to see if I remember why and if I can figure out how to make it better.
3 core 26/36 Ni80, 5 wraps on a 3mm ID, .08 ohms (pre-fire), in the KTX

I can help you remember why.. it's because, although Ni80 is Ni80, 26g isn't 27g and also it's because 3mm isn't 2.5mm. :D
I've tried 2.5 and it isn't enough with the 5 wrap 26g and within my selection of atties. And 6 wraps is to much. 28/38 is typically my go to, especially for 3-4 round-core builds. In the end I think a big part of it is the lack of ribbon. I just love the vape from a famed staple core. 3 core aliens are great ... But in the end I don't enjoy them as much as a fraple of some description, at least for my preferred everyday airflow - medium restriction to slightly restricted. For wide open I do like aliens more, but on average I only go with that much air for series and super-sub when I'm looking to get my head blown off. And that's not an every day thing. But even when I am looking for that the 26g just doesn't seem to satisfy. I'm always happier with a fat stack in the middle (for super-sub).

Maybe I'll have to pick up some 27. It seems to be popular among a lot of people I know. Something else I think about every time I try this is 'Next time try 26/38' and I never remember to do so when I try the next time lol.

Anytime brother! I found that horizontal coils in the Aromamizer V2 stifle the airflow and mute the flavor. Verticals make it shine!

http://vapingunderground.com/threads/wts-wtt-aspex-performance-coils.434798/
It's the same in the G2. But I believe it has a lot of air than the Aromamizer. So it doesn't really stifle it, just cause a bit of turbulence. But I kind of like that about it. Or maybe have learned to like it?!? lol

The problem with verts in the G2 is that it was designed for horizontal coils with inside wicking. The bottom airflow is elongated. So there's tons of wasted air that doesn't go up into the hole of a vert coil. And there is this airflow post coming up between the pos/neg posts that blows on the outside of the coil. Wicking from the outside means touching the wick to that airflow hole. There is no way around it. So it's a guaranteed leak. It helps to stuff as much cotton as possible on the back side to try and "dam up" the hole. But that also means minimal juice on that side of the coil.

This would be why I don't do them very often. But, A) they look cool ... and B) They are still a decent vape and a different vape that I like to change up every now and again.

Well the Aromamizer V2 has direct-to-coil side airflow, with the wicking ports directly underneath the coils, so on the Aromamizer V2 verticals not only work very well, but actually make more sense to that deck than horizontal coils do. I actually haven't tinkered with a G2. As far as turbulence, I don't mind that at all. But horizontal coils made that Aromamizer act like a stuffy nose lol!

ah ... so it's not intended for outside wicking. Yah that works great then :D

That's why you really need that 27g to make it work with 2.5mm at 5 wraps... with 26g and 3mm at 5 wraps there's just too much ramp up, and, going for quad 28g 2.5mm at 5 wraps isn't an improvement when compared to going for tri 27g 2.5mm at 5 wraps. That's in a typical (24mm or 25mm) dual coil RDA with the airflow adjustment about 2/3 of the way open, using a single battery mech.

That's actually what I'm looking for ... something that shines on my Keen (single 21700 tube)

What?!...What?!!!...That last build!!! WHAT???!!!!!:D
lol thanks man. There will be some color coming up. I just haven't finished pulsing and shooting it yet ;)
I can't help but wonder what the world record is for the most round cores in a SFC lol.
Biggest I've seen is 13 cores. 10 seems to be the benchmark where most people call it good and stop trying to do more.

If it's a coil ... it's porn to me :teehee::giggle:
looking for new configurations of wire for Mtl tricore alien, in this case I change 42 ss by 40 ni80.
New configuration: 3×32 + 40 full ni80 7 wraps on 2.5 mm .80 Ω

That's pretty close to my series build. I do 8-9 wraps on a 3, dual coil. I like FC or SFC for my mtl. Aliens seem to gunk up so much faster at the low wattage.

I say it all the time. And I do realy mean it. I truly enjoy coils of all descriptions. They are all art to me. I see the beauty in the shape and the finesse it takes to create a good one ... and that includes naked round wire.
You put up any well wrapped coil and I will enjoy it. You put up any not-so-well wrapped coil and I will still enjoy it as well as sympathize with the struggle. I have art in my heart, stemming from a love of music and instruments. I also thoroughly enjoy the other visual and preforming arts. It all just speaks to me in ways that I can't explain.

So, I built a pair of N80 6 core Aliens, 2.5 wraps, 3mm ID, 38g over 6x28. I'll get pics tomorrow because I was unsure of their vape capabilities and quality so I didn't photograph them. They clock in at .21 ohms for the pair on my series coil deck in my Steam Crave Aromamizer Plus. Wow what a vape! Wasn't sure about this whole series build deck thing, but boy am I sold now!
