Power/Temp and *snap* *crackle* *pop*?

When we bought our first, "entry level," vape gear, the guy at the store said "don't worry if it occasionally snaps or pops. That's normal." When I upgraded the tank on my EVOD VV from the cheap, $5 throw-away to a Mini Protank 3: There was still some, but no more than there had been.

I bought an eVic-VTC Mini and put the Mini Protank 3 on that. Started bumping the wattage. When it got too hot/harsh I backed it off a bit. Ended up at about 9.5W. It *snap* *crackle* *pops*s (hereinafter: "SCP") a lot more than it did on the EVOD. I could actually run it up to 10W and still not get a harsh vape, but then it was alarmingly noisy.

I mentioned this to the guy at the LVS and he said a lot of SCP means too much power. (It was after that, actually, that I dropped it from 10W to 9.5W.)

Now I have an Eleaf GS-Tank. I left the .15Ω coil in and am running it in TC mode. Using the same juice I have been all along: A 70/30 (PG/VG). Vape is rich and a bit warm at 460°F. It SCPs a little.

Interestingly: With use I've had to bump the temp up. At first even 420°F was too much. Now 460°F tastes and feels about like 400°F originally did.

Not certain what I'm asking, here. I guess these are just observations and I'm wondering what y'all think?

It's just the juice heating up rapidly. It's normal, and nothing to be concerned about. The guy at the vape shop should have been able to tell you this. So take that as its meant.

Unless your hair catches on fire. ;)

The SCP is perfectly normal. Dry or burnt hits mean too much power, the SCP has nothing to do with it. Some setups do it more, some less and I've found generally as coils gunk up it becomes more subdued. I've grown to love those sounds, they mean my setup is clean and working well :)

Interestingly: With use I've had to bump the temp up. At first even 420°F was too much. Now 460°F tastes and feels about like 400°F originally did.

It's possible that as the coils get gunked you need a bit more power on them to get the same vape. It's possible the resistance of the Eleaf GS has changed slightly and is now a bit out of calibration with the mod. Or maybe you just got used to the lower power and want a bit more now. It really doesn't matter, as long as you're not burning juice and you get the vape you want you're good.
