Good evening, all.

Been a while.

Claudia, I blame you for the latest addition in my apartment (but in a good way). I've had Mac computers in my life, off and on, since the first one back in 1984. I sold my MacBook to my niece (she needed a computer, I had 2, she couldn't get a new one, what the hell) and have semi regretted it ever since. Then my DIL got a iMac 27. Then Claudia got an iMac 27. Today, I have an iMac 27. It's a refurb 2014 model, but that's cool (has the fusion drive and was about $400 less than a new model). I'm happy.

Oh but isn't it pretty? :)
I'm used to getting blamed for everything so it's ok if you blame me as long as you don't bill me. lol

I am having one small problem though, ever since the latest OS X update on a fairly regular basis it will either slow down and beachball requiring a force restart, or fail to wake up from a screen sleep completely and again require a force restart. It seems to be related to using either Firefox or Safari for a long period of time. I really don't think it is a hardware problem, or very much hope it isn't since the closest Apple store is over 2 hours away.

Yes, yes it is. I'm glad to be back in the Mac world.

And, perhaps 'blame' was a bit extreme. I sold my MacBook about a year ago and have missed it ever since. My DIL's purchase and yours simply tipped me over the edge and moved me to do what I wanted to do in the first place. So, for that, I thank you (and her).

I do hope you get your problem resolved. I can relate to the distance to the nearest Apple store. The closest one to me is in Indianapolis, about 120 miles. We do have an authorized repair shop here in town however (I used them when my MacBook's motherboard died).

I've done a lot of reading about this problem, apparently a LOT of people are having it since the most recent OS update, I came across one guy who is apparently working with Apple to solve it. Obviously it is on their end and I'll just wait it out and hope they come up with a fix soon, it isn't all that bad but worried me. As long as I know it is a software bug and not my pretty new shiny going south I can be patient, it's not that big a deal, just a nuisance.

I really do love this thing and can't imagine going back to Windows even though I am still using it on my laptop.

I'm giving my Windows laptop to my brother tomorrow. I'm running Parallels on the Mac and have a Win 10 virtual machine that I'll use for anything PCish that I need to do. I also created a Mac vm using the restore partition. That's for experimenting so I keep my physical machine as pristine as possible.

A goal that I've set for myself now that I have this is to create a Mac version of an ejuice recipe/calculator program. It gives me an excuse to learn new programming languages and skills. I know...nerd stuff but I'm a left brain type who's artistic talents only show up when I'm programming.

You pretty much lost me with most of this, but I really like the idea of a Mac version of an eguice recipe/calculator. :) Maybe IOS too?

Unfortunately next week is our semi-annual gathering of all the folks who normally work from wherever they are, so I need to be there too. The boss can't ask employees to do something he's not willing to do himself, right?
Have you heard of the Wright brothers? Amazing, modern technology

Yes, I have. In fact, roughly 25 years ago, I got a certificate to operate the technology in question, and I owned this example of the technology for a number of years:

Sadly, I'm not in a position to own one that's truly practical, and I find the level of BS you have to put up with to fly in the back of a cattle-car to be close to insufferable. Hence I will only do that when absolutely necessary.

sounds like my trip back from Long Beach, CA! LOL. The seat in a big truck is so much more comfortable than any car I have driven (and I have driven a few....I like to drive). 600 miles in the semi is about the same as 400 in the car.
Well, my weekend slog is done. Almost exactly 16 hours driving, and about 38 gallons of diesel burned. Obviously, I don't drive a semi, but do have a very comfortable vehicle. :)
