morning knucks

a little cooler here today, thankfully

hope you all have a good holiday, especially glow etc for who it is your main bloke's birthday... just food and family is good too though :hearts:
Good food and family is GREAT!
I have to admit, I have never heard it put "your main bloke's birthday" before and I think it an endearing turn of phrase! It made me smile when I read it. Thanks for that.

We had a wonderful day here with family, food and a few presents. The meaning of Christmas is often lost in the hustle and bustle but it does make for a time of hope and gratitude when I take the time to remember the reason for the season.

I'm just getting over a bout of GI bug and today's meal was the first full meal I've eaten in about three days. It hasn't caused many issues but I will say that I don't yet feel like taking on the world. Now DH appears to have it. Either that or the first quarter of the Denver-Kansas City game is making him sick! It certainly has that potential.

Making more maple yoghurt. Mum liked that. She didn't sleep much last night with the heat. Said she kept snacking on yoghurt.

I have a pork fillet defrosting. I think you call them tenderloins. Log shape things.

I'm wondering how I can stuff it, without baking twine in my pantry. Thinking if i cit it to half length, I can just insert a long thin knife. It works with chicken breast. Hoping I can use a mushy stuffing to keep the damn thing moist. It is not what I ordered and not my favourite cut

Not my favorite cut either but we try to do one every year at New Years. Old Pennsylvania Dutch tradition I think: pork and sauerkraut to ring in the New Year with good fortune. My sister recently roasted a pork loin and it was so moist but I don't remember how she did it and she is asleep by now. Of course, we have to add black eyed peas now that we have a Texan in the family.

Well, I got a new travel mug and a restaurant gift card for Christmas. Oh, and my new coat for work. Turns out that was a Christmas present too.
Karen wants to get one of those DNA tests to check your heritage. I looked at the DNA/ancestry.com memberships and was a little shocked at how much it costs to search your family tree.

You could always devote 30 years going the social science route rather than DNA.

I've been eyeballing cameras lately. Haven't looked at them in years. All these point and shoot cameras with 40 or 50x zoom and tons of mega pixels. Pretty amazing capabilities.
Not sure if any of our photography bugs still pop in or not. I'd listen to anyone's opinions or advice, should anyone have any.

megapixels aren't everything

better to get lower MP in favour in favour of a bigger, more light sensitive sensor, and quality lenses like nikor or canon

also suit it to purpose

low light? action/sports? hiking/danger of dropping? indoor/outdoor?

I shoot for a living and use a Canon Xsi. Not ideal for sports photos but it was what I could afford. If you doing amateur photography would work pretty well for that.

Sorry, I wandered off to the grocery store.

This all started while looking to buy a better camera to take pics of Karen's jewelry stuff for etsy. We bought a light tent and took a few with our phone. It just seems to auto adjust the light to a bland or dull blue hue. The tent did make a big difference, but I'd already started down the camera rabbit hole by then. The camera would just be for general use and pics of jewelry.

....and maybe an occasional shot of the neighbor washing her car?

Been waiting an hour for that pic.
When Rooboy promises food porn pics, we get food porn pics.
You should be more like him.

You know the drill. Research. research. put it in your cart. Talk yourself out of it. Take it out of your cart. Research. Research. Spend money on necessities. Decide your phone takes good enough pics. Complain about how crappy your phone pics are.

Lol.....man after my own heart. When I needed winter boots I shopped through 2 winters before I bought a pair.

I'd been rocking an 8 year old iPad. Decided it was time to upgrade. Sticker shock....check androids...look, look, look...wife and kids got me a new iPad air2 for Christmas....so they wouldn't have to live with my shopping for the best deal.....lol. I had no idea how pitiful my old iPad was till I fired up the new one.

Morning Knuckles.
My work is slow, so I have an extended xmas break.

And no naughty neighbors to take pictures of. Unless you like half frozen cows. I could go take some pics of them if you want.

:blowkiss:
Yay for extended breaks!

Taki was big on the cyclones. He'd probably have an extra bag of screws and Owings still laying around somewhere.

Thanks 22.

I posted in another thread looking for spare screws for a cyclone. If anyone knows where I can find some or what size they are so I can search for myself, I'd be mighty appreciative.
Ahem @Taki

22, Tony just got me this one for Christmas
d310fddd71ca0954fbd9386e38bc7270.jpg

It's a point and shoot version of a DSLR camera. Have gotten a few really good pictures out of it and some less than stellar ones, but that's because I haven't figured out all the settings yet. It's macro setting would be awesome for taking jewelry photos. It's basically the DSLR without all the different lenses and now I just have to learn how to work it lol

Morning knuckles, well afternoon anyway. Finally have a day off and should be cleaning the house because it looks like Christmas threw up all over the place. Am wiped out with some bug or another for the last few weeks unfortunately so am feeling like laying around instead and trying to ignore the disaster zone.

Hope all had a wonderful Christmas, xoxoxo

There is more missing than lenses. DSLR internals are superior in every way.

i'll be making the long 5 mile trip to the beach in an hour or so, hoping summer crowds haven't picked up too much yet
It is the dead of winter here, and will be 26c tomorrow, so it will be a lovely day to commune with ocean life, and perhaps a stroll on the beach.
