Should I stop vaping when my mod gets hot.

My mod gets hot after about 30 minutes of frequent use, (not really hot just warm) and I'm wondering if that means I should stop using it.
It's a regulated mod btw.

Warm mod means warm or hot batteries. Not good.
List the specs of your setup.
Tank and what coil
Mod
Batteries(not just the size)
The wattage you use

I use eleaf istick power, has 5000mah internal battery according to manual.
my atomizer is hellbeast (24mm hybrid tank, 810 drip tip, 4ml capacity with 0.2 ohm coil)

oh yeah the wattage I use is 55 watts (now im using 80 watts, vapor comes out hotter, I got used to it I like it now)

IIRC, Hellbeast runs a 0.2 ohm coil? That's kinda low for an older mod like the iStick Power, depending on the wattage used, but is in it's safe range for wattage vaping

http://www.eleafworld.com/istick-power/

Are you letting it get discharged below 50%? I recharge at that point to keep the batteries healthy.

apparently, the coil works best when using 60-80 watts which my mods supports (and I dont use because vapor comes out hot warm after about 2 seconds)

My general rule is start low and up power until ya like it.

But don't exceed the specs for the mod. Mod specs are usually lies.
I have "200 watt" mods that can't even do 80W reliably. ;)

unrelated, but it says on that page u put here that the battery will last a remarkably long time, but I find that I have to charge it frequently, is this normal?

Me, I'd be vaping a higher ohm set at lower power, that'll last far longer.

I typically vape around 20-40W with 0.3 to 0.8Ω builds. But, I don't vape direct-to-lung or chase clouds. I use 15mg nic juice too, which makes a difference.

Dual coils also draw more power than single coils.

would it even let me go beyond 80 watts in this mod?

IDK why you need 80W, TBH. For example, I run a 0.28 dual SS316 in TC mode coil at 30W.

And no, that's the limit for the mod, it probably can't actually do that much. More like half of that for regular use.

I have a 200W dual-18650 mod capable of 230W+ in theory, but I vape it at 35-40W with a 0.45Ω single coil build.

Ohms Law will tell ya: https://www.steam-engine.org/ohm.html

Did you get the mod new or used? It could be new-old-stock too, meaning the battery in there could be old.

So you're saying to get the highest ohm coil that works for this atomizer, and to vape at a lower wattage in order to get a longer battery life?
Also, aside from battery life, what do ohms in a coil affect.
And yeah I bought it new.

80 Is probably where the settings top out at, so no no higher. If you want something close to 80W get yourself a dual battery mod.

Sounds like the heat is on the top of the mod? at the 510connection or the top of the mod in general?
Frequent vaping or chain vaping would cause that. Heat transfer from the tank to the mod.
Could try a different higher Ω coil for less wattage and less heat, if you haven't already.

Employee on shop seemed sure about this atomizer.
Guess I'll have to buy a new coil then.

Also, what danger could I run into provided I keep vaping on this 0.2 ohm coil.
I deleted that post... I was going off info for a different model istick. You can ignore that.

You can check your manual for low voltage cut off too. Tells at what voltage the mod won't fire at to protect the battery. You can run it below 50%.
So why would people need low ohm coil when more ohms means more battery life.
Well, like me , I have 1 built in battery mod [4400Mah] because the resistance I use on it [.28 -.33]. I get good vape time between charges on it.
Everything else is external battery, which is what most use for lower resistance since it requires more wattage - which requires more battery.
Higher ohms= less battery, because basically it's bigger wire [or more wire mass]and requires less battery to "push" power through it. It's more receptive.
Less ohms = more battery because it takes more power to push wattage through a small wire[less mass]. This resistance is higher, which means the Ω will be a lower number.

Yes, for .2Ω -55w normal I would say. "Remarkably long time" is marketing. I depends on your tank/coil(s)/wattage/ vape frequency.

Could always get a dual 18650 battery mod then use whatever coils you like. Keep the iStick for back up for if you get in a spot with no charged batteries, 1 mod quits, short runs where you know it has enough power to get you through, when batteries are charging...

I have 2 18650 bats. 15a 3000mah each. Run on average 34 to 38w dual coils .35 ohms. N i get all day bat life with like 35 to 40% left. N i chain vape all day. I used to run higher wattage but i like this much better.

What batteries are you using? For .35 ohms you should be using 20 amp continuous batteries.

Looks nice af, the battery lasting long is a definite plus.
I need to get me something like this.
Lg hg2 batteries would work good in it too. And they are 20amp

Thanks @Vape Fan and everybody else for the information. Yeah I definitely want to up my mod game since I don't see myself quitting vaping.
Also, to conclude the thread, I shouldn't worry about the the mod getting warm whatsoever?

Yes, you should worry if the mod gets HOT. A bit warm is ok, but hot is not. If your mod ever gets extremely hot, get it away from living creatures asap.

All the world of truth there. I use single coil builds run just a tiny bit over 45 watts and that decreases as voltage of battery decreases. I usually leave about 20% voltage on batteries for head space. I use 18 mg nic juice. My coil builds are 0.3 to 0.5 Ω. Don't use dual battery devices, or regulated ones.

Find I get about two days out of a charged battery that has rested. I chase some clouds & flavor, but don't get out of hand doing that. Seem to wander the narrow path of moderation. I have also stopped using mods reliant upon internal batteries, batteries rated for milliamp hours, come to think of it.

IIRC, it has been about a year and half, possibly two since I first drank the squonking Flava-Aid. Think I have an official Dark Side(tm) t-shirt around somewhere.

For the OP: Try not to repeat my mistake and let a battery nearly vent on you. I had a mad dash with a hot battery to outside. Took it to a place safely away from living creatures, property and sat it on a board in a pasture. Went back for it after a few days. I was lucky to have stayed calm enough to take the top off my Coppervape mod, then to get the battery cap off and battery out. Had I not been so calm it likely would have been an aluminum pipe bomb. Keep your gear clean, keep where you vape clean as well. Think you got it clean? Check again. Use magnets to pick up Kanthal wire droppings.

Well said. I had to toss a tube mech away from me once. Scared the living hell out of me. It was a shit battery, an eFest iirc, and all I had done was tighten down the battery cap a little too tight. As soon as I hit the fire button, that sumbitch got HOT, and my first reaction was to throw the whole thing out into the middle of the living room floor. When it didn't blow, I got it out of the house. At the critical point, I just didn't want it blowing in my hand.

Also thank you for the reminder about snippets of wire. That had not occurred to me.

So why would people need low ohm coil when more ohms means more battery life.
larger coils have lower resistance. It is not uncommon for a flavor chaser to run 0.1 to 0.25 with a clapton coil at 100-150 watts. I prefer a fairly warm vape, so about 120 @ 0.20ohm.
Right now, for example, I'm using triple parallel claptons. 3x26ga kanthal core / 34ga ss wrap dual coil. on a 3mm id core.
Cloud chasers would use even larger coils.. 20ga Nichrome x 6 wraps on 3.0mm id core dual coils at about 180-200w.

It depends on what you consider warm. For example, when I use a SMOK Majesty at home while gaming, I am chain vaping - about 5 to 10 puffs at a time, every 10 minutes or so. After about 30 minutes of this type of use, I can feel my mod get warm. But the warmth is coming from the screen. The Majesty has a color screen, so it definitely draws more power, especially since I did not change the settings (it's on while I vape and a few seconds after). This type of warm is normal for how I am using it.

But if you feel like the warmth is coming from your batteries, try a new set of batteries first. Batteries do wear out, especially after about 3 months of use. If it is still getting warm after you have new batteries, then you may have a bad mod. That's when I would replace it.

I vape the Hbeast at 55 watts, it does not seem to work much lower...could it be that the internal battery is old and and not holding a charge anymore...
Wattage is coil dependent. While the coil your using may need at least 55w for you, doesn't mean for everyone. Not counting the Nautilus coils it will use, I would think that with all the coils that tank will use there would be one(s) that work well under 55W.
My mod gets hot after about 30 minutes of frequent use, (not really hot just warm).
Altho 'frequent' is subjective, it sounds like this warmth is normal and not a real threat. If your vaping very frequently, or chain vaping a lot , maybe you need a little more nic??
Those HellBeast’s coils are .2 they call “supermesh” will also fit these tanks:
Baby Beast
Big Baby
Baby Prince
Vaporesso GT

HellBeast spec says their tank will use coils made for:
Vaporesso GT
Smok FTV8 Baby
Nautilus V2

Also. If say, tank brand “X” says it will use Smok FTV8/Baby coils, and Hellbeast will use FTV8/Baby coils, then tank brand “X” coils should work in Hellbeast.

If you want to try a different coil to see if it will lower temp have a look at GT Ccell .5Ω -- 20-40w or V8 Baby-Q2 core .6Ω. Any time the ohm number goes up, the battery charge will last longer.

If you like what you’ve got, except the mod gets warm, there’s a lot of dual battery mods in all kinds of price ranges. Show us what you like. It would be good to have 4 batteries so you can have 2 married pairs to use 1 pair while charging the other. Or you could start with 1 pair of batteries and use the iStick while charging. And a charger.

HellBeast will use a Nautilus 2 coil? The coil that is visually indistinguishable from the regular Nautilus BVC coils?

ETA: I see that you're absolutely right. I cannot fathom that. Still, good to know. Thanks!

Also thank you for the reminder about snippets of wire. That had not occurred to me.

Silly user errors are more often the cause than anything else. It had not exactly registered with me up to that point. Yes I was aware of the sniping pieces, I didn't register them warranting more than a casual look over. "La de da, la de da I'll vape good, la de da, oh wire bits I brush them into the trash can off my desk, la de da, la de da, ..." Forgot to check in the threading of battery cap, in the rda, in my fingers. Since then, I'm a bit more attentive to ensuring cleanliness.

Update: I bought the Drop RDA atomizer, and vape @ 60 watts.
My mod gets too hot to hold comfortably hold, so I wrap it on some paper towels in order to hold it.
Right now, it even got too hot to hold even with paper towels.
I'm thinking of getting another mod just for the RDA (squonker)
With my tank though, it doesn't get as hot.
Also, it cools down after 5 minutes.

This is NOT normal! You should immediately remove the batteries from that mod and stop using both the batteries and the mod.

I'm diggin on this one
The dual batteried are big.
Topside dual
Pulse Dual is small

That mod is getting hotter with the RDA right? Because you have a .11 build in it.
Nothing you can do about that mod getting warm and hot except like said, don't use it.
