Squonkers are Bonkers

This sounds familiar to how an Odis version 2 got mysteriously added to my cart on FastTech. Unfortunately, I needed to cancel it as my stipend could only shop so much. might need to look at these mods you mention for next time. Kind of hate to but I guess $70 for a regulated squonker might get me over the shinyitis Spanky keeps suggesting. Then again, not sure; ... I might talk myself out of it if Spanky can keep quiet. :giggle: :)

I got mine today and have changed the battery one time and it tore the wrap on the battery!

A user on another forum recently got one and he took a Dremel to the battery lip and said it made a world of difference when changing the battery.
I may try it tomorrow, if I do I'll post pictures and thoughts on the mod.

Other than that this thing is really sweet!

It's not much different than battery situation in the Therion 166. I'm not taking a Dremel to my batteries, no way no how. For me, it's not the removing of the battery that will be a hassle, it's moving the squonk bottle out of the way to do it, along with the battery guard. Just extra fiddly, not really difficult or anything. But it would have been really nice if they had used a bottom hole to insert the battery like most other mods.

I'm not trying to be negative, I love the device.
It's not the batteries, it's the mechanical reverse polarity mechanism.
The 166 doesn't have it, look at the positive post in both devices and you will see what I'm talking about.
It's a protruding ridge around the positive terminal in the device. It is designed to make it so that if you put the batteries in backwards it won't make a connection.
There are posts all over the internet about the issue. A lot of people are charging the batteries in the device to avoid it. It sounds like the issue started with the Triade.

@AndriaD sorry I didn't clean it better, but glad you got the battery issue figured out.

For getting the bottle out, you pull the magnetized cover off the bottom and just pull the bottle down. It has little ridges on the side for gripping while pulling it out.

Dont know why they never made a bottom battery therion be best of both worlds looks and less damage to wraps this is why the sister company think vape finder 167 also become popular didnt have the battery wrap tearing , big difference in price too in 167 , 75 75c , finder is 56£ for 75c on gearbest therion 110£

Theres even a golden therion now , but not sure what colours its supposed to be gold blk or brown lol seems confused

Oh, you mean the round frame around the contact? It's not that big of a deal for me so far. I've pulled the battery out three times since yesterday afternoon. I just pull the lower part of the battery out first, rather than trying to pull it straight out.

So don't get the lost vape Therion bf? Lol I been eyeing it for last couple days. Either it's that that's next in like to replace my wraith, or wait for sigelei squonk version. Mucha I love my wraith.. It's only the first and I want to upgrade to something better/reliable on it.

So I read now, confirming you're squonking. :) Aside from this nagging minor adversity, how do you like it? I hope you do like it. For me the journey from Enjoy cig-a-likes has run its course. Not keen to use tanks much if at all now. Liking the RDAs and the handy squonk bottle to help somewhat eliminate carrying a bottle to drip, fuss, muss. :)

Not really sure yet; haven't yet been able to get a really good vape with squonking, what with all the hardware issues, then this perfume-taste issue. I'm hard and fast on its trail, though. :D I still prefer my Achilles over everything else, EVER; I'm pursuing the squonk thing to try and give myself some option other than the Achilles -- titanium is tough stuff but it can't be immortal. ;) I don't have much of an issue with "constant dripping," since the Achilles holds 2.5ml -- which is about half or at the very most a third of a full day's vaping, at 9.5w. So y'all can "lol" or call it "nothing but air" if you feel you really must, but hey, I'm not the one sucking tragic amounts of PG/VG and flavoring into my lungs, so I think the joke is on the cloud chasers with their 20+ ml per day. :)

Might try the simple effervescent of vinegar & baking soda too, or simply vinegar (figure white distilled would be ample) to cut taste/smell residue. Sure you might then have minor vinegar smell/taste but it'll 'wear' out quickly if you just have to vape immediately after cleaning. It'll wear out by air drying for a couple of hours to a day as well. I would suggest Lysol but well, ya'll thinking about PG which will have the same effect yet nix any risk of other chemical exposures, and ammonia is definitely out of the question.

When I worked at the apple product plant I had fun cleaning a Sugar Room. It was an access room where the auger tubes ran sugar from big metal silo containers outside into the inner plant workings, apple-sauce, apple juice, apple butter, apple jelly/jam/preserves all requires use of sugar, a top brand name sports drink did as well.

The cleaning crew had to swap out from bleach to cut the sugar evaporate which slimed the floor and walls in there. It was a cramped room. Ammonia was used to spray the room down, then rinsed with hot soapy water, then cold plain water. Well, I had opened the door to the outside. it had gotten blown mostly shut on me. "Boom!" The room got flooded with a noxious gas from the reaction of the ammonia with the sugar at such a level.

A buddy just happened by as i was shoving the door open and coming outside. He caught me in his arms, guided me to sitting on the ground. Of course he first laughed, then chided me about being more careful. Told him the door took its own mind. After that I got rotated away from cleaning the sugar room. Guess they realized I could not smell. *chuckles*

Effervescence is one way to put it, since vinegar+baking soda makes a homemade expanding-foam fire extinguisher! :giggle: But I would never use vinegar to clean plastic bottles; I learned that lesson when I first started vaping, that smell lingers worse than anything, it soaks right into the plastic... YUCKO!!!!!!!!!!!! The smell of vinegar is one of the worst smells EVER. No thanks! I had a nose like a bionic beagle BEFORE I quit smoking; now it's more like a bionic bloodhound! :giggle:

Think I'll stick with plain PG... if I really need something more, I might put a few drops of my shisha strawberry flavoring into the PG, to help hasten the departure of the perfume.

Looking forward to receiving the lost vape bf, been shipped from FT for a while, probably the holiday has slowed it down. I really don't care about the little extra work changing the battery, if it bugs me too bad I'll dremel the mechanical reverse battery protection ring down. I'll probably charge via USB a couple cycles before rotating batteries as well. Mine is all black and have a black bottle ordered as well.

The lost vape paranormal has a bottom battery door, looking for them to make a paranormal bf.

Thx for that -- it's a bit more complicated than I can really go right now, particularly since I don't have any of those soft-silicone bottles from FT, but eventually I may need to do something like that, since I also have some issues with the smell of certain polymers, like the guy who posted that. You know those plastic nose-pieces on "cheater" reading glasses? Some of them are made from a polymer that smells like bug spray! Tip a mug up so your nose is more or less in the mug, and that's all you can smell -- and don't even get me started on the smell of some stores' plastic grocery bags -- smells like sour milk that's been puked up. Ugh.

God yes, and my family looks at me like I've completely lost it, when I wander outside rather than stand at the end of the checkout where the reek is the worst -- I can't even stand to take stuff out of those awful bags when we get it home, but make them do it, so I don't have to get that stink on my hands! It's just a disgusting stench -- puked up sour milk is putting it mildly indeed. I'm not a super-taster, but definitely a super-smeller! :giggle:

That is just me though...
I don't blame you. 3f have a pre order deal where it's 55 atm. I'm thinking about doing so lol. Love my wraith but with the hadaly clamps being difficult =_= not sure. I bought a peerless rda, and I'm looking forward of it. Not only that but also the Haku. I'm waiting to come home lol

Based on what little real, first-hand info we have right now, I'd go for the Therion

Am basing this on owning one old Sigelei mod and two Lost Vape mods - but: have no reason to believe at this point that there is anything inherently bad about the Sig, just that you can feel the quality difference just picking up a Lost Vape vs Sig

Only time will tell on either, though

My 2c is that for vw, there won't be much in it. If this is you, look at ergonomics etc

For tc, the dna is better. Phil busardo explains why well, with fancy pants little graphs in a dna vs yihi video

I have only ever owned one Sig product... it was the original run 213 in Carbon... still sits in my desk holding one of my Squonk RDAs peacefully... Still works for the intended purpose I bought it for...( was matched with my Black Goon 24 as a beater mod)

I've owned 3 DNA devices one of which was the Therion 166...and it died... along with the other 2 DNA devices, VT133 and VT75...The VT133 is now just a glorified coil building tool... but it died in the first month...sent it back, works fine now...but I only use it to pulse coils...the VT75 USB port was bad, and the day I got it and plugged it in for escribe, it died...thats right, didnt even get to use it...sent it back lol

Why I say I'd get the sig? this isn't purely based off my experiences with the 2, but for the intended purpose of the 2.

I don't TC...and I know the DNA chip does VW really well...but regardless of me setting it to 75w or 60w, what it says still doesn't really matter, I'd still adjust it to where I like to vape.

As for which seems better quality in hand feel...based upon my personal experience... the Sig213 had a better quality feel than my Therion 166, even looked better imo... buttons never got mushy...always fired when I hit the button and has never failed.

upload_2017-10-7_11-9-30.png

It held larger diameter atty's being 31mm in width ( For those that cared about over hang and or used larger attys, not really important for squonking)

But yeah if someone gave me $120 and said, you can pick the Therion 75C or the Sig Bf mod... I'd pick the Sig BF...For I know its intended purpose would be solely VW...and to me if it has the hand feel the Sig213 did, then I know for sure I made the right choice.

Plus another $60 to use on other stuff makes it such an easier choice.

But that is just me ;)

We'll see in the holidays lol. The Therion looks and feels like a race car part lol love the the looks and weight it gives. My fuchai duo-3 felt amazing and worked it magic w/out fail. Havnt bought another mod since I been changing my focus into cars and bills (shoot me I know lol) in the holidays. I want to grab myself a mod I can use for the lifetime. Most likely a squonker. Just because it's more practical and don't worry about juice in rta sitting too long.

I don't like TC vaping at all, it's just not suitable for an extremely low-wattage vaper. My experiences with Sigeleis are similar to yours, though -- outstanding devices without breaking the bank. My very first "real" mod was a Sigelei Zmax flat-top -- which is now 3 and a half yrs old, and still works just as well as the day it arrived -- I have another just like it which has never been used, still in its original pkging, as part of my vapocalypse stash -- I don't care for tube mods anymore, but those Sigelei mods WORK, and keep working dependably.

I also have FOUR Sigelei Minibooks, because those are also stupendous mods -- beautiful -- enameling even better than a high-end car's, resisting scratches and dings like nobody's business; clever, with their magnetic book-opening battery doors; perfect size and shape for GREAT hand-feel -- and like the Zmax's, with a stainless 510 so the threads don't wear out, as some of the other Sigelei models have been known to do.

I've had my eye on those Sigelei Fuchais for a while, they're so nice looking; the BF version looks very similar, so I daresay I'll probably end up with one... or more. :D Sure, there might be a lemon here and there, no device or machine of any kind is exempt from that -- but as a rule, you can hardly do better than a Sigelei.

Not for the faint at heart...
When it comes to cutting on a $150. mod most people will pass.
Myself, I want to be able to swap batteries without worrying about destroying the wrap.

I made the mod but not with a Dremel tool, the plastic is soft enough that I was able to do it with an exacto knife.
What a difference! The battery is very easy to get in and out now.

From looking at the battery, it looks like the damage was more than likely done inserting the battery not taking it out.

this perfume-taste issue.

Might be that a perfume taste is actually how the RDAs enhance or deliver more or more potent flavor to a person. I despite lacking all but a base sense of taste did notice a heck of a big difference coming from tanks to rdas, I like the more flavorful vapor from rdas. :)

I'm not the one sucking tragic amounts of PG/VG and flavoring into my lungs, so I think the joke is on the cloud chasers with their 20+ ml per day.

Well, since coming from tanks a couple things have been different for my vaping routine.

1. I vape less but more so.

This to me means I'm not taking hits as often, it's back to being about like how I smoked cigarettes, every four or so hours take ten minutes and 'smoke'/vape. I get full and satisfying vape and then go on for a while again.

2. The juice consumed has in fact increased.

I couldn't at this point tell you exactly how much but can estimate well enough. Used to go through about 2 ml per day using tanks. Now, with rdas, I might go through 4 - 6 ml per day. You could say I've doubled, or tripled what's consumed. This still is not anywhere near what some others might vape.

Not too concerned in comparing what I do, or don't with others. We all fairly do the same basic thing/s, we vape, build coils, wick. Everyone learns from someone else and teaches someone else. Welcome to the hive mentality, we're all Sparticus. ;) :)

that smell lingers worse than anything, it soaks right into the plastic...

See now, you took crib notes from @DogMan . He can tell you I've had now the trifecta of lessons today. *chuckles* Learned what I thought was a regulated mod, is a mech. Then, got schooled a little on mosfets and their varieties. Now, you teach me about vinegar sticking to plastics. Not smelling, I did not know, or if I did it was not wholly enough germane to me for bearing out a ROM slot in my brain circuits. *grins* As I told him, I live and learn. Think most of us try to do that at least. :)

I need to go on a thought diet.

Before you do that, let me give you something to puzzle over. Recently saw a foodie show. I know Tell Lie Vision is the tool of Not Seeing Anything & Can Instigate All and they use it to program folks like computers run programs and T.V.s show programs, ergo shows on Tell Lie Vision are usually well dumbed down. Still this particularity give me a bit of a logic bomb.

The cook steps back, takes a pickled bit of food, it might have been a beet. "I'm going to ferment this pickled beet now," they say to the show's host. First, doesn't pickling in itself ferment the food item? I had thought that was what the process entailed, my wife thought so too. Between us we've worked in food services off and on about forty years at the least. We tend toward being at least halfway knowledgeable regarding food. Second, if the item was indeed fermented already, how then does one ferment it further ... or at all?

So, riddle me that Mr. Hat Man. :)

No, pickling preserves food in some form of acid and prevents growth of the yummy things. Fermenting on the other hand is all about producing said yummy things!

Ohhhh I could not live like that, that was my favorite thing when I worked in a Italian place. Always had delicious cured meats to snack on

There are some great cured meats without a bunch of terrible crap in them

Tonight, am making beef jerky, not cured but naturally dehydrated
