livin on the edge!
I use a Trustfire charger and charge while I sleep.
No laptop batteries though, I have to draw the line somewhere.

I try not to charge while sleeping or away from home - but I would be lying to say it never happens

I'm looking at some very nice chunks of stabilized wood, but have no idea who would do that kind of CNC work.

Very few people from what I've discovered.
The problem with stabwood blocks is the inconsistency that you don't see. Once they start milling there could be pockets in the wood where resin didn't penetrate or other flaws that could literally split the whole block in half.
That aside, milling a single block takes more work than milling 10 boxes out of a single board. They are one-off pieces that require a reset and recalibration every time.
This is just info that's been given to me by several folks who do this for a living. I couldn't say for sure, but I trust the professionals.

Point well taken on the single block idea. I guess I'll just have to figure something out, but first finish all the other projects around the house.

It's not a bad idea at all, maybe you know someone who can mill it for you, but the general concensus among the 5 or 6 people I inquired with was that it was too risky, especially when the customer provides the block
However,
Some places that sell stabwood will also cut and machine it to your liking, within reason of course.
You just need to spend some (a lot) of time looking and asking questions.
I admire your artistic spirit, Brew. Didn't want to rain on your parade.

Rain is not a problem, I have an umbrella. My intention is to make the box myself but I talked myself into a remodeling job that is never-ending. Once I see the light at the end of the tunnel, providing it is not another train coming, I will start playing with the box mods. Until then, I just look and dream.

Yes, indeed, where there is a will there is a way!
I've made boxes in the past with nothing more than a drill press and forstner bit set, but I've also learned that acrylic tends to be a bit tougher to work with than wood, especially the chipping and cracking aspect. High-speed routers would probably be the best thing aside from a mill, but it would probably be best to have a jig unless you're a freehand master.
I use very few power tools, mostly because I never had them growing up and I've learned to adapt.
That's not to say I don't have plans to make my life easier at some point lol but for now I seem to be plugging along just fine!

Yep you can make template jigs and do the milling with a router.

What's the verdict so far? Worth the money?

Yes, amazing customer service! Mine was shorting out since the LP clone it came with pin was touching the clamps, sent it in and the minute he got it he figured out the issue, fixed it and had it back in the mail the next day. The whole time he communicated everything he was doing with me.

Can I just get on the list now?Your killing me Smalls. I predict secret Facebook group, lists and F5 wars in the near future. Better start looking for a second job lol ;)

There's a list?
I want to be on the list!
And I'm clearly not secretive enough for a secret group of any sorts. When a slab of wood gets me excited enough to share a picture with a group of people I hardly know,it seems pretty clear that I would run the worst secret society ever LOL

But now.... a closed group, that sounds like something that may have just become a thing. Give me some time to build the page a little bit and I'll teach you all the secret handshake

Unless there's plans on kicking me out of VU.
The other place has already warned me :cuss2:

But dinner time poll:
Should ultem buttons be a thing maybe?

And be sure to clamp your work piece down. Nothing says "holy shit" like a chunk of resin-impregnated wood getting bound in your tool and thrown across the shop.
Not that I've ever.... I mean.... there was that one time...
Been there, done that....had the stitches and bruises to show, well that and 2 months off on disability

Dang - don't know if I'd want to get much bigger than the Triad 250 - mine borders on being just a bit much for me to use regularly
