so hey ya-ll. I have two sub ohm devices. A top box mini, and a Kbox 200 with a TFV4 on it. Both are running efest batteries supplied by the b&m's that I bought the stuff from. I keep reading about misc electronical goo about batteries being able to supply coils and I'm completely ignorant of this stuff. Also, I'm not too into fiddly so I'm trusting the b&m dudes to do the right thing. Is this something I have to worry about?

Thanks

Is that an "efest"? You need to know the Amperage rating of the particular battery. Plug your resistance and wattage into an ohm's law calculator and it will tell you what your Amp draw is. One I use is http://www.steam-engine.org/ohm.asp

efest. Yeah I fixed it. So what you're saying is yeah, I have to worry about this?

Yeah. Your best bet is to have a mod move this into the "batteries" forum and let the battery experts see it easier. I know just enough to (hopefully) keep my build safe.

With Regulated mods you'll be ok. Lot's of people use Efest but they can't be trusted. There re-wraps of some ones B stock and the ratings are inflated. It's best to stick with Samsung or LG as they make the batteries that the re-wrapper's buy from. Sony is also good but there are a lot of fakes out there. See here http://vapingunderground.com/threads/battery-safety-grades-table-choosing-a-safe-battery.130301/

EDIT: I should mention that Ohm's law doesn't directly apply to regulated mod's. Resistance isn't a factor as long as your in the mods range the chip does it's thing.

Thanks for that info. Didn't realize that the regulated mod's could be trusted that far.

I'll put it bluntly
Efest Batteries = discarded battery that did not pass muster with one of the big 4 main battery manufacturers, those big 4 are LG, Samsung, Sony, and Panasonic/Sanyo (last mainly lower end). Efest does not make their own batteries, and on top of that, the batteries they sell did not pass muster to be a true spec A bin authentic so are a B or C bin resell, Efest slaps a perty new wrapper on them, then, on that wrapper prints out double what the authentic can output in amps, aka the pulse discharge rate, not the continuous discharge rate. <--That right there is the most dangerous part, puts uniformed people in danger, more of the recent e-cig incidents I have seen and read about have 70% of the time had an Efest battery in them or another re-wrap company. Trust a B&M to do the right thing and be informed, uhhh, no, unless the owner or an employee is a battery nut, will a B&M do the right thing.
They can get re-wraps from all number of questionable suppliers, plus re-wraps cost more, simple rule of retail, more hands a product touches before reaching the customer, the more expensive it becomes, so profit plays a big part here as well. Battery safety, link in my signature line has a post I've done breaking down batteries and other relevant information, also check out a member named @Mooch (and also here https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/members/mooch.256958/) he has charts and tests of a bunch of batteries, well worth the read.

Sony, Samnsung, LG are you safest brands to look at
if in the US/Mexico/Canada get your batteries at
illumn.com
liionwholesale.com
imrbatteries.com
orbtronic.com
RTDVapor.com

Definitely use one of the vendors @IMFire3605 listed. I've personally bought Sony counterfeits that looked OK until put them next to a real Sony.

And for saving a buck or two, you can't beat buying those Samsung or LG batteries at either illumn.com or liionwholesale.com -- great prices, authentic batteries, and they throw in a battery box (the only really safe way to transport batteries) with every pair you buy.

The main thing that you NEVER EVER want to do, is transport a battery "loose" -- like, in your pocket. Unless you just really wanna set your leg on fire and become another Darwin's Award candidate on the news.

Just bought 4 Samy's from liion. Thanks again guys.
You will never go wrong with top notch brand name batteries from the big 4. Even a regulated mod can have mishaps. One thread that I can't find now, the guy showed his regulated mod and his 2 samsung 25r batteries vented out. Some malfunction in the chip or something, point is, his regulated mod hard shorted the batteries (which is very rare, but one BOOM is to many.) The samsungs vented, but did not explode. That is why we always suggest the top end, brand name, high drain batteries. It might be only a 1 in a million incident, but for the sake of 3 or 4 dollars per battery every few months... it just isn't worth that 1 in a million risk. Especially when you figure in the "It always happens to ME factor". I'm "That Guy", you know.. the one that bites into the ONE apple in the basket that has the 1/2 worm in it.
