Sub Ohm Tank Overwhelmed

To start, I have very limited experience with the plethora of sub ohm tanks out there. I started with the V1 Atlantis (which I still love), the moved on to the Silo Beast. I eventually sucked up up and got a Sub Tank mini, and Triton. Now I have the Toptank.

Of all of these tanks, I absolutely love the Beast the most. But they stopped making the 1.2 ohm coils for it. And I hate the Atlantis 1ohm coils with such a fury, that when my last coil goes, I may have to shelve that tank for good (I could rebuild on it, but that is what my RTA's are for. I like the ease of premade coils right now).

The toptank is great for it's top-fill ability, but I'll never give it a great review because in this day of vaping, I shouldn't have to drain a tank to replace the coil. That's a huge minus. Enough to never get another.

I won't even get into my dislike for the Triton. I've never had a tank taste like, well, nothing. I have tried many coils, and many juices in it, and it tastes like nothing. May as well be vaping 100% VG with nic.

I just bought a second mini, but I don't want to limit myself to just 1 type of tank.

So the issue I am having is that before I knew how much I'd hate the Atlantis 1 ohm coils, I bought a bunch of them for my Beast. So there is a good amount of money locked away. And I am going to want a new sub ohm tank to replace it. I liked my setups because I only needed 2 different coils for all of my tanks. If I get any other tank, I'll need to start buying new coils.

Even though I like sub ohm tanks, I don't usually, if ever, use coils below 1 ohm. I prefer the 1.2-1.3 ohm range. Even when I rebuild, I go for 1.05 or higher.

So my question to you all is what can be done? I'm not interested in hearing about RBA's. I like to build, but I have 5 RTA's that I do that with. My sub ohm tanks are for my convenience, so no building tips. Are there any tanks out there that I may not know about that offer coil heads above 1 ohm?

You can use Atlantis coils in a Herakles.

That's good to know, but what about the disdain I have for Atlantis 1ohm coils. I've thought about the Herakles, but I'd still stuck with coils I hate.

I know this is going to be a loaded question. But do you think there are any sub ohm tanks that are so great, they are worth my investing in something I'll need to buy specific coils for. I know the Delta II always got great reviews. It's older now, but it could be worth it. I've also looked at the Melo 2. But again, same coil issue.

Am I just going to be stuck rebuilding all the time? I don't want to have to be pulled into the .5 ohm world because I have no other options

I should've read further, so you can ignore the last post.

Delta 2 tank has great flavor, juice flow control, air flow control. I really do like the tank, I just wish it wasn't so difficult to see the juice level. Still, it's a really good tank, imo.

Yep, that's my biggest dislike of that tank as well. It's damn near impossible to see how much juice you have in it.

That's a little annoying, but it's not much easier to see how much juice is left in my squape R with those stupid frosted windows. I've just learned to adjust, and refill often

The Crown tank has a 1.2 ohm single coil option.

I was looking at the Crown. Didn't see that they have a 1.2 ohm option. That is a huge plus. I know this will be another dumb question, but with SS, do you need to use that in temp control? I feel like SS came into popularity at the same time as titanium did. And I never got a clear idea of whether it was only for temp control or power mode.

And how about the Rafale tank. I love the top fill method. Does it use the same coils as the Crown?

Maybe that's why I've been confused. I like what I've seen of the Starre tank, but they only offer ss coils, so I wasn't sure what the deal was there

The reviews on the Rafale aren't as good as the Crown - and the coils are different! I use the Crown ss coils in power mode, however the 1.2 ohm are my least favorite along with the Ni200!

What don't you like about them? Is the flavor weak? Spitback? long ramp up time?

@Huckleberried: I've read that the coil heads that com with the Crown tank use nickel legs. So should they only be used in TC, or will the work in power mode too? How about the 1.2 ohm heads... That seems too high for tc mode.

The 1.2 heads are, to me, no better than the Subtank 0.5 ohm coils in both flavor and vapor, but some people do like them. Yes, the SS coils have Ni200 legs. You an use them all in SS mode if you prefer, but I use all mine in power mode.

+1 for the Crown :) IMO you will be hard pressed to find a better Subohm tank.
I do not use prebuilt heads, I use the rba section. The crown delivers very nice flavour It's well built, it don't leak & a good cloud too :)
In all honesty a Subtank is good too, just doesn't deliver the flavour like the Crown :)

@AmandaD: That's good to know. I was always confused since a few mods now have SS modes. I wasn't sure if that was because it was a different wire, or if it was only for SS in temp control mode. I guess that is only for TC. So my DNA40 and sx mini will be fine with the ss coils in power mode.

@steamer861: I'm not against RBA sections. I just like prebuilt heads for convenience sometimes.

So far I've only tried 1 of the 1.2 ohm heads, and it is really strange. Not bad, but it takes a long long time to ramp up. I reads at 1.2 ohms and slowly rises to 1.53 ohms. It is consistent at ramping up 1.53 ohms, but is strange that it needs to

There are 1.2 coils for the Arctic, though I have no experience with them. Also, there are 1.2 and 1.8 for the TFV4 Micro. Another that is close is the 0.9 Vaporesso cCell ceramic coil, which fits Atlantis, and other compatibles. Steam Engine Clapton is 0.7, 30-50w. This has many fans, but I'm not one of them.

Has anyone had experience with the Crown leaking? Mine didn't leak for the first month, but it leaks like a sieve now. Every time I fill it up, it drips out the air holes. And if it sites for 10 minutes, the base fills up just enough to drip when I tip it over. It hasn't lost a whole tank yet, but it's realy annoying. I has gone through 3 coils hoping that was the issue. And I have tried multiple ways of filling it, but the top cap doesn't make a good enough seal to flip it upside down before it's completely screwed on like you can with the Kayfun 4 and my Silo Beast.
I've had other tanks do this, but mostly they eventually stopped.

Sounds like you're missing an O ring! I have three, and none have ever leaked. For filling, I just unscrew the top, fill them up, screw top back on - no leaking, ever!

I don't think so. The o ring inside the top cap is there and in good condition. The o ring on the coil head is there, too. It seems like every time I screw in the top cap the coil floods. Like the pressure from closing the tank is pushing juice into the head. I have noticed a little oozing from behind the air flow ring, but that is something I've noticed in my subtank mini, too. And its not bad at all.
What other o-ring could be missing?

What about the one inside the top of the chimney? It looks just like the one in the top cap.

It's kind of funny. I was about to write back that I didn't think mine came with a full set of o-rings, but I was so excited about getting it, that I didn't open the whole package. I just took the tank out, cleaned it, threw a coil in and put the box aside. Luckily I kept it because of the extra coils and glass.

I just replaced every o-ring, and it seems to be working fine. I'll give it a few fills to be sure, but I emptied it to replace them, and just filled it with no issues. So I assume that was the problem. I just wish I knew which one was the real problem so I don't have to replace every one every time
