I knew the Civil War part and always thought it was put on Paper in the late 50's...I'll have a look later and If I'm wrong I apologize now for my mistake

No need to, no matter. Just curious about the historicity of this stuff. :)

Not everything can be attached to fact, logic, reason, or any quantifiable thing.

Oh for fucks sake I'm a Pervert and Molester now:oops: after the guy brought up the Nazis... I guess he didn't know his History "After the Nazis came to power in Germany, they signed an agreement (Concordat) with the Catholic Church whereby the Vatican would accept the Nazi government in return for the Nazis not interfering with the Catholic Church. In 1939 Eugenio Pacelli was elected Pope Pius XII"

Well that is just asinine.
That's what a lot of the religious folk think...Trust me I am on the other side.. it also scares them not to question the "Good Book"...This guy has told his kid and his grandkids this... think how many others think that and passed that long to kids scaring the shit out of them

I would disagree there. There can be enough preserved to recover DNA, for example, but that isn't to say that nothing has changed. You can still tell the difference between a mummy and a recently deceased person even with a superficial observation.

Well, one path to atheism is reading the bible and fact-checking the claims. And a popular path at that. :)

If I ever found myself reading the Old Testament and checking facts, at some point I would stop myself, realizing I was falling into the same trap as the biblical literalist. I would recognize that I was reading the book as an alien might read it, with no sense of the what sort of meanings I was dealing with, and lacking that sense, was taking everything literally. This is the problem I have with biblical literalists as such. They seem to be reading the Bible as an alien would read it, with little sense of what sort of thing they are reading nor what sort of meanings they are dealing with.

I shall make a truth claim: It has been scientifically proven, that human tissue can and has lasted, chemically and physically unchanged for over 1.300 years. So much so, that it's blood type can still be measured.

I'm not sure what you are getting at here.

Truth Claim = A statement that claims to be true, thus open to refutation

Was waiting for this :)...It's just a saying
I don't think ""Leftie UCLA Wacko's" would have done something like that and I can't find anything even close... The other thing is... I would have posted it if was any other Religion...My question to you is...If that Video was another Religion (Muslim, jew..Ect would you have been all over it like you have with this one?
Yes I would have..

I would also 'have been all over it' if this was posted to show lefty's as 'wackos' ..

My point being, as the Friar said, anything can be taken out of context and twisted to suit what you think. In this case, a video of an obviously confused Eagle 'trying to escape Christians'. How about 'just a confused eagle' and leave the rest of the crap out of it?

If you havent seen this type of thing before, its prolly because someone didnt make a big deal out of 'cause it didnt happen in a 'Christian Church'. However, I have this type of thing several times before... None of them were in a Church ;)

This thread cracks me up. If I had not started mine....this would not exist LOL. So sad that some ego's find that necessary. I cant tell you how many times I have known people and had no idea that they were atheists until the topic of God comes up.....then it's like an unleashed fart. atheism is not a belief...dogma....way of life.....as much as it is merely a reaction. It has a right to exist, and it does not bother me whatsoever.....it just flummoxes me, trying to understand it's purpose. Forgive me.

No.. its him and his skewed perception behind it.
Just like the
Westboro Baptist Church?...I'm just showing how fucking whacked out a lot of religious folk are and how ignorance is rampant ( In religion in general)
Westboro-Baptist-Church.jpg

I will NOT have you imply that Ash makes generalisations!!!!!!!
He wasn't talking about me...He was talking about the ignorant bigot in the video who thinks all atheists have no morals ...I don't have to have A God to scare me into having morals or knowing whats right and wrong...Unlike a lot of hypocritical religious folk

Meanwhile, 82 percent of TODAY viewers surveyed say three-parent babies shouldn’t be allowed:rolleyes:

I agree with you completely....TOO many "religious" make it up to suit their agendas and to assuage their own guilt feelings. In true Faith, there is no room for personal "style"....interpretations are quite necessary in order to bring Gospel to contemporary life...but the letter and intent is NOT to be lost in the process. I am personally ashamed in what has happened to not only religion, but the the Catholic Church over the centuries. I preach Faith, not religion....I am at odds somewhat with the RCC on this, but that is their hangup, not mine.

One thing that I tend to mention in my work...is that morality is not a Christian tenet, but was outlined by Aristotle. One does not need religion, or even faith in order to appreciate the intrinsic need for justice. Justice was, and to a much lesser extent, IS mandated by the mores of society. I will sadly confess that honour is a value that seems to be less and less a part of the human moral fabric in today's day and age.

Thank you and I appreciate it...This thread isn't about hate but I'm sure a lot of people have taken it that way Like I have said before this thread just isn't about religion but it's about other hot topics too...Also A place where subjects with substance can be talked about(I just wanted a thread where that can be done) and not small talk e.g..It's snowing here, My cat just had kittens...ect ...I know by some of the posts that people have taken this thread the wrong way...I love to debate and will respect other views ..I will post things and I hope others do too with facts behind them and if them facts can be debunked so be it...I just like being thought provoking and getting down to the truth of things...I'm also a fighter of injustices;)

Oh and a place where fellow Atheists know they are not alone here...Coming out as a Atheist reminds me of Gay people coming out...You never know how people are going to take it or react

My feelings on that are: If you are gay, just shut up and be gay. I have yet to see a heterosexual pride day...or parade, or picnic. Same thing is you are black or a jew....just be one. As soon as we declare ourselves "special"...we separate ourselves from the mainstream, and subsequently define ourselves as different...and will be treated as such. It is said that "All men are created equal"....this is not a philosophy that is exclusive to faith or secular belief...it is just SO. I meet a person, and through discourse and time, I determine that this is a pleasant person to be around and exchange ideas. I see this as a person...and no different than myself...not unlike how most children view each other. All things are pleasantly equal, and assuming that in the course of that relationship there is a just and equitable give and take...there is peace. When a person declares that they are gay , or an atheist, or whathaveyou....then it is not uncommon for the other to stop considering them a "person"...but now a "different person". Subsequently the treatment becomes different, and what began as unity, has now ventured into a tribal division. This is the fundamental basis of faith....to judge NOT the person...but the actions of that person. When a man tells me that he is gay....that does not affect me, as those things which define his gayness, are not a factor in our amicable and platonic relationship. What one believes or does, is THEIR matter, and unless it becomes an extrinsic factor in a relationship, it is irrelevant.
