The Good Old Times

I remember those! You pushed on the bottom of the base and he fell down, then when you let go, he snapped back upright again. Boy, it sure didn't take much to amuse us back then, did it?

I remember when we first got a push button phone, thought it was cool

And remember the Pushbutton Telephone Songbook? I think I still have one of those around here somewhere... Endless hours of fun playing songs on the phone (but you had to call "time" first so you weren't dialing the Philippines or something, LOL!).

Maybe Grandma and/or Grandpa could teach them a little grammar and sentence construction while they're at it. At least whoever wrote the above seems to have passed spelling class.

Sorry, I'm being a grump today, but all these memes I see every day that are misspelled and make no sense (in a grammar way) just make me so depressed. It really takes the "funny" out of it for me, or as in this case, the "profound." And the more of them there are, the more the sloppiness gets perpetuated. Sure, we can probably figure out what they're trying to say, but that's no excuse for poor written communications skills, and on the internet, written communication is all you have.

Grump over. :)

I remember all the years of being told AINT is not a word. Then, it got put in standard dictionaries. People still insist it ain't a word. But then, those are the same people that think " well, bless your heart" is not actually an insult.

Being a Northerner, I only recently discovered that "bless your heart" was a bad thing in the South. In Oregon, we said that a lot, but it was an endearment, so it's been quite the adjustment for me. I have to make sure I'm not insulting someone if I say it, so I just try not to say it at all. If I really want to insult someone, I say, "Bless your pointy little head." ;)

As good as those both look, they aren't what my fairs had. More of a large, flat, round puff pastry with cinnamon and sugar, or honey, or jam. You know, the messier the better!
Like these?

Sorry. Just trying to figure/ find out what elephant ears are.
If it is these, I've hade them with powered sugar. They are tasty, but if cooked too long, they are nasty.
