This woman has paid property taxes all her life. I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a good thing for cities to have bond issuances for home repairs for the elderly who can quality the need, rather than threatening to fix your home, then take it away from you and sell it.

I also wonder about the lady's option to move into assisted living. I know some of the places want an up front deposit, but after that you sign over your social security to the institution and live care free. Some of them include the transition from assisted to full care within the same facility.

But I know, some people want to stay in their home.

No fanfare.
No ribbon.
Just open doors at 5 a.m.
Carlos Santana, 77, stood in the cool dawn and unlocked the Santana Sanctuary Medical Center, a 250-bed, zero-cost hospital built exclusively for America’s homeless – the first facility of its kind in U.S. history.
Cancer wards.
Trauma ORs.
Mental health wings.
Addiction detox.
Dental suites.
120 permanent apartments on the upper floors.
Everything free, forever.
$142 million raised quietly over 18 months, funded through Santana’s Milagro Foundation and bipartisan donors who insisted on staying anonymous.
The first patient: a 61-year-old Navy veteran named Thomas, who hadn’t seen a doctor in 14 years.
Santana carried the man’s bag inside himself, then rested a hand on his shoulder and said softly:
“This place carries my name because I know what it’s like to come from nothing.
Here, no one is forgotten.
This is the legacy I want to leave behind — not records, not awards… but healing.”
By noon, the line stretched around six city blocks.
#SantanaSanctuary exploded across X with 38.7 billion impressions in eight hours – the fastest-growing humanitarian trend ever recorded.
From legendary guitarist to unexpected miracle-maker, Carlos Santana didn’t just build a hospital.
He built hope — one free bed at a time.
America’s heart just found a new home.

🦀 MICROPLASTIC “ANIMAL ENGINEER”: In mangroves that are hotspots for plastic pollution, researchers found fiddler crabs can ingest and rapidly break down tiny plastic particles in sediment. It’s a reminder that nature is always interacting with our mess (even if there may be tradeoffs). Here’s the research summary on fiddler crabs breaking down microplastics.
🦭 CAVE-DWELLING SEALS: One of the world’s rarest marine mammals, the Mediterranean monk seal, is still being pushed into sea caves to avoid people. Conservationists warn that unregulated marine tourism can disturb mothers and pups at the worst possible moment. Read about the monk seals hiding in Greece’s caves.
