Sorry for the late post....taking more out of the AA Big Book:
'On awakening let us tihink about the twenty-four hours ahead. We consider our plans for the day. Before we begin, we ask God to direct our thinking, especially asking that it be divorced from self-pity, dishonest or self-seeking motives. Under these conditions we can employ our mental faculties with assuarance, for after all God gave us brains to use. Or thought-life will be placd on a much higher plane when our thinking is cleared of wrong motives.'

Good evening

'When we retire at night, we constructively reivew our day. Where we resentful, selfish, dishonest or afriad? do we owe an apology? Have we kept something to ourselves which should have been discussed with anohter person at once? Were we kind and loving toward all? What could we have done beter? Were we thinking of oursleves most of the time? Or were we thinknig ofwhat we could do for others, of must be carefuly not to drift into worry, remorse or morbid reflection, for that would diminish our usefulness to other. After making our review we ask God's forgiveness and inquire what corrective measures should have been taken.' pg 86 AA big book.

Thank you for doing such a great job keeping the thread going and even expanding it to twice a day!
It's nice to see that people have been stopping by this month. Sometimes I would go weeks not knowing if anyone was even here only to find out later that a post had really helped someone.
Keep at it, bud and thanks again!

When you start your day today, I would like to ask you to think about your favorite quote/experience during your road to soberity. I've shared several quotes I enjoy. I would like to hear yours. Maybe even a story to help the felllow addict who still suffers, or maybe something to help someone else in recovery! Thanks!!

Good evenin ya'll.
Reflecting on the amount of meeting choices I have, and talking to some of the old timers my sponsor has introduced me to. Got me thinking. I'm pretty lucky with the meetings I can attend. I've got several, we're talkin 5+ groups in my general area that typically hold meeting at least 3x a day. My home group, on Friday and Saturday 4x. What made me think, is do ya'll have that many options?

I just wanted to let you know that you're doing a wonderful job and don't get discouraged about others not posting here.
I used to think no one was paying attention, only to find that there are a number of people that read the meditations every day, just rarely post.
My wife used to be secretary of a weekly meeting a few years back and it was rough. Every Saturday at 11:00, she'd unlock the doors, make coffee, set up tables and chairs, get literature out- you name it. And for months, in the beginning, it was just her and I sitting there. We would have a meeting- just the two of us alone in a big room. Eventually, though, people started showing up. Today the meeting has almost 40 homegroup members and is one of the biggest meetings in the area.
Someone once asked her why she even bothered if no one was coming and she replied, "First, it helps keep me clean and second, I want to make sure there is a meeting here if someone needs it."
Keep it, dude! You're doing great!

Whats up guys. Dont know why but I wasnt getting any alerts for this thread, so I figured Id pop in to say hello.

Anyways, life is good, I really cant complain. It took a solid month of faxing and telephone calls but I am just a drivers test away from getting my lisence back and having all of my priveleges restored in NJ and NY. Its a real long complicated story but this has been going on for 15 years and now its just about fixed.

All because of keeping my focus on the moment and keeping a positive attitude and realizing I dont control everything. Amazing!!!
Stay strong brothers, pray for the still sick and suffering and do it One Day at a Time...

That JfT is a great reminder of those first few days of uncertainty.
I was recently thinking how all of the blessing I have recieved, big and small, are confirmations that Im on the right path. After rehab, those confirmations began to show themselves in the rooms. Getting a hug, phone numbers or having a stranger approach to say welcome, that stuff is so important to a newcomer because it shows that recovery is real and tangible and not something that is made up just to try and keep you clean.
Its why each addict in recovery is a miracle, living proof that the program works.
My early recovery has taught me to keep my eyes open for those blessings, those positive feelings that keep me feeling good.Hell, even clicking this thread and reading the Just for Today is a blessing.

Thanks for posting....

For years, my relationship with my mother was non-existent because I was living in my disease.
Today, one of the greatest gifts recovery had given me back is my mother's love and trust.
Have a wonderful day!

hey @ghost62 I've not been by in a while. Work/life/work, chaos, living in the land of extreme idiocy from the legislative department. I've been sick for the last few days with a major headache and something said I should check in here and let everyone know I'm still alive. There's a lot of reasons I'm not on here much anymore, but mostly I don't have time. If you want to get hold of me outside of vu, email is probably a good start though I check that about once a week - frawgz (dot) [email protected] - yes that important dot is important, minus the space. You'll have an easier time getting me there than here i'm afraid.

hey @ghost62 I've not been by in a while.
Good morning!
We've been saving a seat for ya. Lol.
I'm sorry to hear that the pain is still bad. Hopefully they will be able to come up with something soon to give you some relief. Living with chronic pain can be a struggle- my busted up hip is still literally kicking my butt but I keep reminding myself that I only have to deal with it for TODAY, for right now. Who knows what tomorrow will bring, right?
Are you still working at the vape shop? That would be a dream job for me except I'm afraid my whole check would go for new gear! ;)
I'm glad you stopped in. @bigdaddybrink1 has taken over the daily posting but I'm still here if ya need to talk.

Personally its been a really long day. I work nights, I had my 3 yr old as my wife works days. All the other kids were in school. Thankfully she took a 3 hour nap. So did I. This is gonna be a long nite. BUT for those who get to sleep tonite:

'When we retire at night, we constructively reivew our day. Where we resentful, selfish, dishonest or afriad? do we owe an apology? Have we kept something to ourselves which should have been discussed with anohter person at once? Were we kind and loving toward all? What could we have done beter? Were we thinking of oursleves most of the time? Or were we thinknig ofwhat we could do for others, of must be carefuly not to drift into worry, remorse or morbid reflection, for that would diminish our usefulness to other. After making our review we ask God's forgiveness and inquire what corrective measures should have been taken.' pg 86 AA big book

Happy Friday ya'll!!
