I tried paraclaptoning again today, this time after taking wire off the spool, I got a few good sections
Then I fused it to one strand of round wire, I'm gonna vape it - is this called a half-stagger?
It might look cool after I get it hot because one run of 40 is A1, the other is K D

i think the term for that would be half framed, but im not positive. i seem to recall something about a1 coloring at similar temps to kd, just not as brightly or something. i have never tried to color ka1 and never bought kd...

I think I get it, half stagger means there's more gaps in the wrap, right, and staggerton means you stagger the inside then fill in the gaps after putting more cores outside, I forgot the staple part... so many acronyms lol

i dunno im trying to look it up and if i google half framed staggerton i get a pic of a coil that has a naked round wire frame, a small naked staple stack, which are both fused to a spaced claptoned staple stack (opposite the round wire frame). an ssfc has the spaced claptons on the outside with a naked staple stack in the middle. im not sure what to call yours...starting to think you should name it yourself

Kanthal A1, or kanthal D? Kanthal D will definitely go blue, blue-green, yellow, and purple, and then rainbow with enough heat

Wow Meg that’s really something ...love that coil
Note: 7 inches of 8x.3 ribbon need 12 feet of 40 guage (two strands) to paraclapton
Posting so there's a frame of reference for later, because I had a nice time paraclapping after cutting wire off the spool and then separating them (coming from two different directions, one over each leg, no tangling or twisting up)

Doing this again, 40 this time, way too much space but it looks better than the 38 ones from the other day
This is still hard but it makes more sense, this is before rolling with a tube mod
I also did 2x28 in the middle and 2x30 on the outside
After a squish, almost clean but too much spacing

Hey, how did you end up staggering it, what method I mean?
Oh I used the loop method. I have spool tamers on my wrap wire so I don't really have to hold the spool as much as guide it. Just used my index finger to hold tension with the loop and guided spool in same hand. Saw it was going ok and let her rip. I figure if it didn't mess up going fast then I had to be doing it right.

New stagger tool, adjustable weight! Cork holds the spacing wire nice and snug without breaking it
One of those premade-in-China coil holders, got this from Howing
Just twist the tool until the spacing wire is as tight as you like - havent tried 46 gauge but works with 40

And then I gave them to someone, I forgot who
that's why I keep running out of coils lol, oh well guess I just have to keep building, how terrible huh

Nice !Here's my stagger maker. I found a cap like urs was to light and it would slip off track sometimes so I went with a little extra weight to keep it in place the whole run.Nice! Here's what I use. The weight of the metal cap is perfect.

Gentlemen, tonight I witnessed and learned the easiest staggering technique to date, thanks to a guy on instagram named probee300
Wrap some spacing wire between your first manual spaces, two rotations or so, tighten the lot of the two wires, and put on a mini clothespin
This is 32g core and 46g wrap, I went ahead and tested this method to the most extreme I could. It's amazing
Here's 40g
Easy and consistent, no weights to wobble around, just set it up right and stay at a 90 degree angle

I tossed my 6 ply/ 36g one, ribbon got bent; the 8 ply/40g one worked out though, Barely
