What wire materials & builds types necessitate annealing?

Annealing is softening up metal aka taking the tension/spring out to make it easier to work.Yes if your doing fancy builds. You might want to stiffen the wire.i would NOT advise doing it with TC wire except Stainless. Nichrome and Kanthal are less springy if torched before coiling.
But you ask if materials require annealing....none do..... That's different than considering when for a specific purpose or process.

Ok I'm not a metal gist or metalworker. I'm just going by what it seems to do.... u nannies led wraps loosen... annealed they do it less.. in my mind the wire that held form after annealing was stiffer wire. May technically be because the metal was softened. Reducing it's tendency to want to return to original shape.Annealing is softening up metal aka taking the tension/spring out to make it easier to work.

I just buy quality wire that has been pre-annealed, no need to break out the torch like I did with shitty Chinese wire from UD, etc.Ok I'm not a metal gist or metalworker. Still the only time I currently use heat on wire is if the wire I'm using is kinda dirty. I'll torch it or dry burn the coil to clean.
I don't use fancy wire builds. Don't really like the amount of flavor they supply and require more wattage than I want to vape or supply batteries for.
Multi gauge twisted wire is about as fancy as I get. And I use tensioned wire when building coils. So I don't need heat to hold things together.

What is that?dont forget Ti wire requires a different approach when using...
I have gone to annealing everything except single round wire in 316L.

Get a lot of wire from Kidney Puncher, the other wire I get is from Atomizer Wick and Temco from either direct from their website or sometimes from Amazon and eBay. Pure Atomist is also decent for Kanthal.Inquiring minds want to know...where do you buy your wire?
Currently all my fine wire is TM N80 in 36,38,40&44. Core wires i use right now are TM N80 in 26 & 20g. Then theres some lightening vape Stainless in24,26&28 and kindey puncher kanthal 26,28. Just wondering if annealling could make coiling the more complex builds easierCan you tell us which wire you buy? How does one know it's annealed?

I was of the understanding you weren't supposed to dry burn Ti. I've only tried prebuilt stuff with Ti.
I'm considering getting a spool if either Ti Or Ni. To try a few builds. I like Stainless for VW.... but can't get to liking it with TC.

Don't like Lighting Vape wire and I've heard others have the same shitty experience with them also. If you over straiten the wire you'll temper it also making it springy. What I do when I straighten the wire is short spin of the drill then the same amount in reverse. This does a good job straightening the wire without making it too springy.Currently all my fine wire is TM N80 in 36,38,40&44. Core wires i use right now are TM N80 in 26 & 20g. well both TI and NI are what i call picky wires. aka unless done just right it will not hold shape or form... both when to hot can outgas toxic compounds. What is that?
