I don't know how city people do charity auctions but we do them allot out in the sticks. We buy stuff we don't want.

For the 4H kids, their show cattle are auctioned. Proceeds go to 4H and college funds. People, mostly ranchers, bid each other up to ridiculous prices that the actual worth of the cattle can never be recouped. I mean, they are steers. They are only worth meat price.

We also do charity silent auctions. People bring stuff and it is bid for on paper. Mostly useless stuff like wall hangings or cheap cordless drills. I often bring something to auction, I don't get anything for it as the money goes to the charity. Usually a benefit for someone that has medical problems like cancer or a horse/car crash. I also buy(bid) on worthless stuff. More often than not, what I buy at a charity auction ends up back in another charity auction because I didn't want it to begin with.

This is often done so that people that don't have allot of money can still do something to help. They can bring an item to be auctioned, and yes, it is often homemade. A person that can afford to give cash will buy the item. It allows a person with means to donate to the charity for the person without means.

Nobody wants a six foot painting of Trump. Probably not even Trump. His wife bid a ridiculous amount for the painting because it was for charity. It may have allowed a person that did not have $20 grand to give something or simply made the event fun so more people will donate.

Bashing Trump for this is the same as bashing anyone that participates in charity auctions. It's downright disgraceful.

Michael Israel, a “speed painter” who generates huge portraits in less than seven minutes. His subject, naturally, was Trump. After Israel finished his six-foot-tall portrait, the work would be auctioned.

No issue with the mental health part. I was referring to Vaping success and the average smokers from the second part of the comment. Not the people medicating a chemical imbalance. That I get. Also think, it's, that imbalance that helps, some of us put up with more of the vaping BS, than those JUST trying to quit the sticks.
