AND...again yesterday! I felt a slight tingling in the back of my throat. This coil has only vaped about 15ml of juice! Aspire should replace those with old coils....as this seem dangerous to me.

I've never had this happen with my Atlantis (v1 or v2). I always check the coils whenever I refill the tank and my wick never looked that bad. Whenever the coils started to look a little gunky I cleaned them with a qtip and kept right on vaping. The v2 coils are much better than the v1s and now I'm just rebuilding them myself when they go bad.

2 of my friends that also have the Atlantis v1 haven't ran into this either. They have spitback issues from time to time but nothing on this level. I never notice any spitback on mine personally.

I check the coils too at each fill which is about 5ml. Since I had the incident with the first one I found this thread on here and the "other" forum and decided to post in here. So I decided to track how long the coil last. I am just about exactly half way through a bottle of Crocodile Tears "Happy Ending" (Cherry flavor) when I had this second incident. I have contacted the vendor as I purchased two 5-packs of coils from them that are supposed to be the OCC coils but from looking at the packaging they appear to be the old coils as they say nothing about OC. If folks are out there that have the old coils Aspire needs to replace them as this appears to be dangerous. In the picture I took you can see what appear to be small particulates all around the side of the coil/wick housing. Up to these recent incidents I have been very happy with aspire atlantis. I have 4 tanks all with the 5ml upgrade. I go through about 5ml of liquid a day and I rotate the 4 tanks/flavors each day. I am vaping these at 25w on a pair of iStick 50w. I purchased 4 5-packs from another vendor and hopefully I get organic cotton version from them.

Can someone knowledgeable on the differences please confirm that the new OCC say organic cotton on the packaging?

I run mine at around 40-45w using the v2 base with the 5mL extension. As far as I know the v1 coils aren't available in OC but all the v2 coils are. The v2 coils work just fine in the v1 (minus the .3ohm coil due to cooling) and the differences are obvious in appearance (larger wicking holes and 4 holes on the air inlet cap opposed to 2 on the v1s). I have went through 30mLs of Ruthless Vapors "Mandingo" on the same v2 .5ohm coil and have had no problems.

Not saying there aren't problems out there with the Atlantis and I think they should offer replacements for all the v1 coils with ceramic wicks but this has been my experience and trying to just help out with what I have learned.

Well II contacted the vendor (101vape) and asked them for a refund or replacement. I know I ordered the coils back in April so I didn't have high hopes they would offer to refund or replace. I was told the following:

Generally, coils can be used for 2 days to 2 weeks each depending on many variables including the juice used, wattage settings and amount of use. When you do choose to use them too long they do tend to deteriorate, by looking at the picture you have provided the coil itself is very black which shows that is has been overused.

The coils are in fact genuine from Aspire and they do include the verification sticker the confirm this. These coils were purchased now over 2 months ago and we cannot accept the for refund or replacement.

Nothing against the vendor here but I find it unacceptable that these coils can be good for only two days. Like I said 15ml or less actually was vaped through that coil. Is there any reason I shouldn't expect these coils to last longer than two days? I am vaping right in the middle of the recommended wattage printed on the coil (20-30w) at 25w.

I've had that happen to me a couple weeks ago on the subtank. Took a hit and felt something wack the top of my mouth. Managed to spit it and it looked like a little peice of charcoal which obviously was gunk buildup from the coil

Want to be sure? Buy some brass screen. #375 works well. cut it to fit the drip tip.

None of us would ever do 'other things' ;)

For those interested the old coils simply say 'Aspire' on the foil wrapping. The cotton coils actually have instructions on the foil wrapping that say to wait for two minutes to let the cotton become saturated.

Mine is on the way. I just can't stand the thought of paying B/S prices they charge. I bought Pro Tank coils one time so I would have the body's to rebuild. It's fun! ;)

Just got the Anyvape RBA in today. So far I love it! looks like it might be a pain to build on but the flavor and cloud production is awesome! I will update later as to how it is in the long run.

With kanthal and rayon I love these things. I tried putting a ni200 coil on it
and ruined the coil , I'll try again later.
It is a pain in the ass to build on with ni200 !

I'm coming on here to give a fair warning to everyone, and letting them know that there IS something wrong with these coils. Against my better judgement, I've been using the Aspire Atlantis (not with the new cotton coils), for about 3 weeks now.

Today, as I was vaping, I felt a STRONG burn in the back of my throat, and immeditately started coughing. This was about 30 minutes ago, and I'm still coughing pretty hard every few minutes, and NOTHING will stop it. I can feel whatever it is, stuck in my throat, and can't get it out. It is itching my throat, irritating it, and it hurts.

Suspecting the atlantis coil, because it happened WHILE vaping, I went back downstairs after trying for a good 10 minutes to clear my throat with water, food, ANYTHING. I look inside the drip tip on the altlantis, and lo and behold, I see a BUNCH of gunk from the coil. I've never, in over 3 year of vaping, seen anything like this in a drip tip....not to mention the large parts, I still have no idea what part of the coil it is.

I'll try to get pictures on here later. I just tried now, but I need better lighting.

Right now, I have color, phlegm like material coming from both nose and mouth, because my body is trying to expel whatever it is that is stuck in my throat. I hope for my sake it'll resolve itself, but for now, I'm stuck with a terrible cough, and a feeling in my throat I can't get rid of.

I'm only posting this as a warning to others - be CAREFUL with the Atlantis. I did NOTHING out of the ordinary, and it was only running at 3.8volts (22watts or so).

[I posted this on ECF as well, because I want to get this info out there. This sucks and I hope no one else has to deal with this]

Was the coil a genuine Aspire coil? I have been using mine for quite sometime and we sell them and never has a customer had this issue. I know I have had several people state they have had the fake coils and have had MANY issues with those. Just wondering if you had genuine Aspire coils?

I've gone through a few dozen coils since I got my atlantis. The ones that came with the tank were the old ones with the small holes, and they seemed to perform better than the new ones. The new ones spattered a lot and I did tend to overheat them all the time. I ALWAYS draw over my tongue, and not straight back into my throat (that's what the spatter taught me to do ).
The new coils, I started running a qtip through every once in awhile because I could see the buildup (and taste it). I had to remove the screen and clean it though or the qtip would leave cotton fibers on it and they would foul it a bit.
If it tastes a bit wrong, S T O P :D it's only going to get worse lol.
I've switched to e-leaf and I left a tiny review in the atomizer/cartomizer section. They're not great and they're not terrible but I like them & prefer them over the atlantis coils.

I rip the stock coil apart with malice & forethought. I coat the coil I wind with mucho cotton, wet it with everclear so it shrinks & ease it into the coil head. Then I drown it. Use .22 mostly. Lightning Vapes wire Is the best I know of. It's a joy to build coils. ;)

I've kept all my burnt coils until I decide to invest in this process
