These things are an abonination.
However, in the right hands, they can be kidna kewl.
Still, they are wrong and should be banished!
(not really)
Oh come on now, Hypno (fucking gonna name my next dog that..Hypno)
I play the cajón. It started years ago with car hoods, upside down garbage cans,
those old style desks with the metal bottom for your books in elementary school.
One day I started tapping on a wooden box.

But that was after I started playing the spitoon. Those are awesome
and I rarely use that word. The combination of sounds is abundant.
That led to tabla.
Need to make a new cajón soon.
Here, this is fun. No box.

My percussionist is learning the Tabla.

Yeah, the only reason that I dissed it is that I've never fucked around with one.....
...and it's a wooden box....
I can get noises outta anything! TableTops, Car hoods, old paint buckets, empty beer bottles...
I just prefer me drums.

Here is Jeff Beck covering a Billy Cobham song:

Those are phun also. But to me playing with the tone and acoustics of our surroundings is
much phun too. A cajón is just a drum with infinite possibilities and you don't have to worry about losing
your drumhead key.
