When the giant squid are caught down here there are always those who want to buy them waiting on the dock before we even tie up..but people really want my tuna, and I always get offers for my fish..
Had my limit of 5 tuna all over 50lbs..sold 2 of them for $300 before I even got to my truck...that covered the cost of the trip and then some..
Lots of benefits of a good tuna trip !

Double that bastard's size, seriously his squid was shockingly huge.
I personally would rather hunt and fish for seal and sea lions in our fresh water ways up here.
Some not a whole lot of bull shark sightings. Mostly they are written off as bullshit.
BUT the PNW is about the same latitude as shitcago and they caught a bully recently about 150 miles from shitcago.

Bulls in Cali just need to follow the sea bastards (lions) and squid and it is DONE for. Considering the sea bastards have been seen as far inland as the north fork damn up the Lewis river and as far south as Oregon City on the Willamette.

Yeah, I'm not into fishing giant squid..they are a incidental catch..
Out of boredom on a hot summer day we sometimes like to go to the IB pier and fish for the large thresher and mako sharks chasing schools of mackerel and sardines, you can actually see them breaking on the surface most of the time...a favorite rig is a fly lined (no weight) 1lb live mack with a balloon attached about 5' from the hook and dropped down to let the wind and tide blow it offshore ( just like in Jaws)..we use a gaff dropped down on a rope to bring them up on the pier when the fight is taken out of them..7-9' thresher is alot of fun on medium tackle..

Hey everyone. To answer your question form a few pages back Jimi, my day started off nice enough and turned to shit right at dinner time. The ER routinely blows up at 5pm. I think those ER docs do it on purpose. Hold all the orders til dinner time. Are they trying to tell me I'm fat and don't need dinner?? I get cranky when I don't get dinner. And I'm still cleaning up work that day shift left. Yup, tonight is definitely an adult beverage night when I get home

I sure did..they thought it might be even bigger than the Great White..speaking of which several beaches were shut down recently for great white sightings just beyond the breakers..El Nino again..

Sorry to hear your having a rough night, I'd be cranky too if I didn't get supper. I hope the rest of your night goes easy for you Kimber! A couple of good beverages is definitely in oder they always wash down a hard day:):D
