Morning all! And another day spent waiting to see what new disaster at work will get dumped on me. Been a run of that, and it always makes me cranky.

Rixy, nice review. I like how you laid it all out.I still worry on that insulator. Read third hand of two reviewers who had it melt a bit on them. Have to track down those supposed videos and see if that legit and not some urban legend.

Morning, in everyday vaping I doubt it will, it's all to do with dry burning your coils, that's where the heat could melt them, I just don't know yet, too early to tell. I do know those insulators can take a tremendous amount of heat but I also know my coils give out a tremendous amount too.

There is one thing I forgot to mention which I will add now, it drinks juice and I mean, it drinks juice, of course depends on your build but it drinks way more than the OBS

PEEK can take up to ~500F, or something like that. And yeah, dry burning can certainly hit that, but I guess it depends where your coils are in respect to the insulator. I do dry burn my coils to clean them up when I rewick them, so I'll await your experience on that deal. Otherwise, it looks like a good deal.

My coils are smack bang in the middle of that insulator
Since a glowing coil will be around 1000F or more it depends on how much gets translated to the insulator.
Didn't know that Crom, hmm, I will be keeping an eye on it.

So far so good on the insulator? I hate to sound gun shy on a $35 tank, but I'd rather throw another Engine into my stash for less money if this thing will melt on me in a week. Otherwise, it looks like a winner.
Too right, money is money buddy, nobody wants to waste it, so far so good, no sign at all and I have changed the coils three times......I feeling it's still to early to be 100% sure, maybe after a week, it looks like it's not going to be a problem though.

Cool, so if all's well by Monday I can get another package heading my way. I figure my builds are not as beefy as yours, so if you don't melt it it's unlikely I will short of something stupid.

Besides, in the five minutes since my post, I thought to myself "why not get another Engine for the stash anyway". Order placed.

At least it was only $27.

Fagan got it to melt but he abused it on purpose, as I said in the review section, anything will break if you set out to break it

Morning wompers! I'm home!!

@Eskie, I missed that part, another OBS is never a bad thing, I'm gonna jump on the Nano asap. I'm hoping the new side airflow will bump the flavor and because it's a single coil, I can put a proper framed fused Clapton in there, they are just too low of a resistance for dual.

I have high hopes for that one

This Troll is vaping so well, after three builds, not a single leak, my last build I thinned the cotton even more, still no leaks.

Framed, fused Clapton? I finally sorta got down making my own Clapton. Still suck at building a fused, so I ordered some fused Claptons from @b_d_builders 316L SS. Nice guy to deal with. I went back and forth with several messages last evening to work out what I really wanted to get me around a 0.25 ohm dual build. I was impressed how responsive he was (if my gender assumption is incorrect, my apologies), especially as it was all after hours. Can't wait to see them. If they look good, some SS Aliens might be on order.

I've gotta get some swivels. I can do a Clapton on a straightened piece of wire (most of the time) but trying a fused even with securing the end of a straight run just doesn't work for me. However, I did build a parallel coil for my Merlin that works really well, and is simple enough even I can do it without screwing up.

Pleasure doing business with you bud! And yes I am a male lol. I'll have your coils all ready for shipment later this afternoon. Building can be a lot of fun....AND very frustrating. All the different wires have different properties some softer some more rigid. This can cause some difficulties in claptoning or fusing (it's all in the tension). To say the least I've gone through thousands of feet of wire lol. Stick with it keep practicing (makes the coils taste better when you nail a sick build haha)!

Great for a single coil. Framed...

Fused Claptons are my favorite, that's what I have in the Troll, awesome coils, 0.25ohm is nice, 70w to 80w, oh yeah

So true buddy, I have had many a wire nest on my work surface and lost my temper loads of times, it's all about getting the feel right and it is all in the tension and speed (slow is better lol)

So, what is that frame thing, a piece of a wire hanger? And what's the cable thing in the center? The outer wrap somehow looks like the easiest part of assembling that.

I'm looking forward to playing with those fused Claptons when they get here. He sent me a photo of the finished product and they look great. I'll let you know how they are when they arrive. I'll probably throw them in an Engine to try them out. Or maybe a Troll next week if your insulator doesn't melt over the weekend.:D

Ha, nobody is going to vape a wire hanger lol, that's just a magnified shot... actually that is a double framed one, I only do singe framed.

So what is it ......

30 wires of 40g NI80, framed in 26g Kanthal, wrapped in 40g Ni80

Twisted the 30 wires a little in a electric screwdriver, this just holds them together in the frame.

Grab a piece of 26g kanthal double the length of the wire you have twisted and fold it in half, this will be your frame, run that parallel down the outer sides of the twisted wires.

The grab some 40g NI80 and wrap it as you would a clpaton, boom a framed fused clapton.

I didn't go into to much detail but you get the idea.

It looks like there are 2 wires framing the sides of the coil, is that just the photo? Otherwise, that does make sense, although working with 40G would definitely require a magnifying glass for me to even know they were there.
Eskie, I think that's the 26g Kanthal that's doubled in what you see in the "frame" . Twisted in the center, 26g on either side then wrapped with the 40g Ni80.
