Looks and paint finish are excellent, I have no worries about the paint holding up but time will tell, it has a smooth soft matt finish which shows zero finger prints. Feels great in the hand, love the shape and how it looks in general.

I here some talk about the 510 should of been in the center, it doesn't bother me, now if the fire button was in the middle then yeah but I understand why it's been mentioned..ah, subjective.

Onto the 510, finally a very good 510, you won't have any problems with this, I screwed on 10 different tanks and they all read the ohms fine, plenty of travel on the 510 pin too, looks to be brass to me.

I like the menu but the white squares around black font can be hard to see in sunlight, it's no big deal but worth mentioning.

I tried SS TC and it seems to work how it should, I'm not a TC user but I do have a lot of Yihi and DNA boards and I can say, there is nothing wrong with TC on this mod as far as SS wire goes anyway.

What I really like about this mod is in wattage mode you can set a pre heat, this is great for me using Clapton coils, it gets rid of the ramp up time completely and gives you a nice instant smooth vape. I have set this to hit at 80w for 1 sec and then drops down to 65w, you can't notice the drop either like you can on some mods, it just gets the coil up to temperature - pre heat..

Battery door is nice, no play in the door when opened and to close it, you can just push it down and it will click, the inside is numbered 1 and 2 which corresponds to the batteries on the screen. There is nice plastic sleeve inside to protect your batteries.

Fire button is the best trigger button I have used, it has no play, no rattle (there is no rattle in the mod at all) It has a nice click to it and doesn't feel spongy under your thumb.....or however you wish to vape it, hold and squeeze, finger or thumb, whichever.

2A balanced charging, it will never beat an external charger but it isn't going to damage the batteries using the USB, much safer than they used to be and great if your in need of a quick charge up.

I can't say much more and usually this would go in the review section, I may do that another time but nobody, well, nobody should be writing a review with only a few hours usage but first impressions are very good.

Alien VS Predator.........it's getting a bit old now, the person to first mention it was actually a VU member and not a Youtuber.....Forgot his username........something rider ? i dunno..

(Atty size - Winner - Predator) - The predator can fit up to a 28mm tank with no overhang, where as the Alien can fit a 24mm, yes 25mm on the Alien does overhang.

(Screen - Winner - Alien) - much better to see and I just prefer the layout and looks of it

(Looks ect - Winner - Subjective but I have to go with the Predator) - just for how it looks and feels in the hand and of course the better paint job.

(510 Winner - Predator) - nothing wrong with the Alien's 510 but this one is one of the best 510's out there, massive improvement, lets hope they use them as standard now.

(Fire trigger - Winner - Predator) - Easily wins this one, way better trigger, nice click, no play, no rattle, solid.

(Battery door - Winner - Predator) - Better design, better made, no play in the door and the fact you don't have to push and slide like you do on the Alien which can be a pain in the ass at times, it also lifts your wrap up........which you will need for that mod. The predator just clicks shut with a single push.

(Weight - Winner - Alien) - The Predator with batteries and tank 315g - Alien with batteries and tank 275g (round about, i forgot lol but it's lighter)

I've probably missed certain parts out but this is just a first impressions look but the Predator wins this one out 5 to 2

Cons

Weight, it's really not that bad but you will feel it in your pocket, it's doable, not like the 402g of the Tesla Nano, screen, could be made easier to see, those white blocks need to go but that could be fixed with a firmware update.

All in all and for the price this is a great mod by Jaybo and a great design my Mike - Sinuous. Def got a star wars theme about it, I will probably get the white one too and get the whole storm trooper thing going haha.

That's it from me

All good things! My only comment is about the 2A balanced charging. Im never going to try using that method as I have had problems with Wismec USB charging in the past AND 2A is too fast for my liking. I'd prefer it had they focused on balancing a good .5A or 1A charge. I know its not a big difference and 2A charging isnt really a damaging charge level but I like to go nice and slow on my charging speeds as I feel its better for the overall life of the cell. That said, Im glad that at least one company is trying to improve on the on board charging abilities of their multi-cell mods.

I totally agree that the Predator wins on aesthetics. I personally think it would look kind of ridiculous with the 510 in the center. I like it just where it is, but that leads me to a question that Ive kind of been wondering about. Is the push bar(trigger) on the same side as the atty or opposite?

Should of mentioned that....

The Predator trigger is on the same side as the atty where as the Alien is on the opposite side..

I got these free with the Predator..
Avatar 18650's ICR, meant to have a very high discharge rate according to mooch, they aren't 30A, more like 25A but I've not used them yet, I will throw them in after these need charging.

And if you were wondering why the black obs is silver at the bottom is because I couldn't be bothered to swap the coils over so I just screwed on the silver deck to the black one lol, looks kind a cool though.

So they might make good pocket flares?

Mayhaps. ;)

The thing about the Avatar batteries is, it seems that really very little is actually known about them right now. Both Joytech and Wismec are providing them with many of their mods but nobody seems to know whats really under the wrap. Even in Moochs Bench test(July 2016) he says he feels something fishy is going on but doesnt know what. My other question regarding Avatar is whether or not they are protected cells. I feel like most ICR cells are protected, but I have little information to back that up, just from what I remember about them from 3 yrs ago.

There is NOTHING in the technical info provided by Wisemec for those batteries that makes any sense. The do state they have a 20 AMP CDR. And they also state the batteries have a protection circuit that kicks in at 6.6 Ah. :wtf:

For what its worth, I would not recommend using the Avatars. ICR chemistry is not considered safe for use in high wattage devices. The article I found by Mooch rated them at 20A but he did advise against using them because they are ICR. Id imagine its the same article...

oh wow........great to know! @Rixsta glad yur disposing of them.

Well wompers. My internet is down AGAIN so I'll catch up next week. Love y'all!
oh that stinks! Is that avatar a pic of Tabitha, or just a pug you found online? Either way it's adorable.

Yeah but have you tensioned coiled your daughter and stuffed her with cotton candy?
ALL kids (and puppies) are tension coiled and the coils bust loose all over the place when ya least expect it! :D

Sleep well
Thanks darlin. I did that day, today not so much. Had a sleep study........I musta not studied good enough, cuz there wuz very little sleepin done. :p The docs apparently either took today off, or left super early, cuz they weren't there. Gotta go back next Friday for results. At least all the goo washed outta my hair easily.

I love the island I live on...except that there is still snow today and I'm so done with winter...i want my beach!
I prolly shoulda specified tropical island! :D

but as soon as the tracking read "Out for Delivery" I become as impatient as a 2 yr old waiting for a piece of candy.
Meeeeeeeeeee Tooooooooooooooo!!

awwwwwwwww that's precious!

that's kewl too. I have no need for another regulated mod, but if I did, I would want the fire button on the same side as the atty if it were on the side, cuz I tend to do a side fire button with with my index finger. I am really glad you like it, and that tank and DT really are gorgeous!

Hope you see this, but dunno if you will.......not sure what time yur leavin, but sure there are prolly a lotta last minute things to do before y'all leave. But I hope y'all have a safe trip, and an absolutely amazing time at the villa!! But hope you can check in cuz I'll miss ya!

Hugs and luvs to everyone! I know Lynn is enjoying the start of her weekend off. :)

Taking the batteries to a hardware store as they dispose of them, bloody junk, I should of done a google search

You know, I doubt they are actually ICR batteries. You can't achieve 20A CDR with ICR chemistry. Regardless the problem with Wisemec/Avatar is they are mystery batteries. Wisemec doesn't divulge info regarding their chemical makeup, let alone any supposed test results from their testing "certificates."

When it comes to lithium chemistry batteries you just don't use batteries you cannot research. Not without taking a blind risk anyway. I don't do "leap of faith" with these batteries.

Very well said! I think the illusion that people are buying in to is the thought that "the company provided these batteries for use in my device, they must have done the research and concluded that they are best suited for the devices they build."

Last year I bought a flashlight online - one of those types that is "so bright you can blind a grizzly." It uses three rechargeable batteries, which were already installed, and came with a recharger (which only holds two of the three batteries). I turned it on and it worked fine, so I didn't even think about it. After a week or so, it started acting like it didn't want to come on all the time, but if I shook it or smacked it, it came on. Then it started getting dimmer, so I pulled the batteries to put them in the charger. Brand? WindFire, 18650 - not flat top. I'd read on the "other" forum that if it has "fire" as part of the name, don't buy it, but hey, they came free with the flashlight. One of the three refused to recharge, so it went in the garbage pit and I just grabbed three of my Samsung 18650s (flattops) and they work perfectly in the flashlight (now a "married" threesome ;) ) and that flashlight hasn't missed a beat since.

Man, I'm not even gonna try to catch up on everything that was said during the past week. I shouldn't have stayed away so long. So I just skipped to part of yesterday and today. Guess I probably missed the chance to say so, But Rixy and Emmy, have a great time!

Well wompers. My internet is down AGAIN so I'll catch up next week. Love y'all!
If you start billing them for every minute you have to live without it, and extra for each minute you spend on the phone with 'em, maybe they will fix it right one of these days? Who am I kidding, the'd probably just refuse to pay, but it's worth a shot, right?

I wouldn't be a good parent if I didn't!

The guys on the cp forum don't like flashlights using series lithium batteries - with good reason. A lot of them - as you found out - come with ICR protected batteries. In theory, protected batteries should be safe. In practice the protection circuit some times isn't enough or isn't functioning properly to prevent a polarity reversal from occurring when the first battery drains sooner than the others. Battery go boom. (It has happened.)

IMR chemistry batteries are better in this regard, but you have no good way of knowing if one of the two or three batteries in a multi battery flashlight has dropped into the "caution zone" and needs a charge, short of checking battery voltage on a regular basis.

Personally, I have found I can still blind a grizzly with a good single lithium battery flashlight. Just don't see the need for multi-cells here, compared to alkaline cell torches.

Yeah, I hear ya. I have a pocket version too (though it needs a deep pocket :)) that uses two standard AA batteries and, in my opinion, is every bit as bright, but only at close range. That three-cell can light up the inside of the barn from the back door of the house (ya know, for those midnight noises that ya need to check on but don't wanna walk to the barn in yer undies) and the 2AA version doesn't even reach that far.

I'll betcha I have a single cell 14500 torch that can do that. (Actually it can use either a 14500 or a AA battery - with an output hit using alkaline.) Xtar WK41. 300 lumens - on a 14500 battery. Is it wrong to love a flashlight? :p

The flashlight using three 18650s claims 2000 lumens. I swear, from over 100 yards away, it will light up the back wall of the barn. I doubt 300 will even produce a shadow of a horse at that distance. I also have a giant flashlight (needs a shoulder strap - that sucker is HEAVY!) that is rated at 10,000,000 candle power (check the Cabela's catalog). One huge battery! On a low cloud night, it can convince neighboring ranchers that UFOs are real. :)

Pulling out the big guns on me huh? :p

I have to be careful with that thing at night or it freaks out the neighbors if it shines in their windows - waaay up the hill even. Xtar tests the range at 60 meters - so about 200 feet. That's not squinty "I think I can see it..." distance either. It's really bright.

It's just pretty damned good for a pocket carry only 3.5" long. :)

3.5"... that could come in damn handy at times... what's the brand name? Where'd ya get it? That 2-AA bright one is 6" and not all that easy to carry while doing heavy chores - but still need to look in dark spaces for eggs, etc.

I forgot to say, where we live, the nearest neighbor's window (in line of sight from here) is about three miles up the hill... No problem with using bright lights out here in ranch country.

Here, this place is an authorized Xtar dealer. (More on that to follow)

https://www.lumensdirect.com/collec...ts/xtar-wk41-u2-aa-sirius-edc-flashlight-only

They handle all things Xtar - so chargers too. If you buy this stuff from an authorized dealer it has a 2 year warranty.

At $36.00 that might sound like a lot - it sure did when I bought it. But this is now my go-to flashlight. No regrets.

Four illumination levels with memory, waterproof (That does not mean run it through a front load washer waterproof!), 2 stage low battery warning, optical glass lens, battery type auto detection... Lot's of technology in that little thing! Oh - low voltage detection and auto shutoff when using lithium batteries. :D

Anyway... If you get on the e-mail list for that place they do issue sales/discount codes - but only a few times per year. You won't get spammed to death.

NB: Nope - I do not work for Xtar. I just love their shit. Just don't buy Xtar batteries - they're pretty crappy. Doesn't make a lot of sense with them being in the flashlight and charger business but it is what it is.

I forgot to say, where we live, the nearest neighbor's window (in line of sight from here) is about three miles up the hill... No problem with using bright lights out here in ranch country.

I figured as much already. Wish I was there.

Hey all. Just finished up 3 days of night shoots on Grey's Anatomy. Worn out to say the least. 12 hour shifts. getting home by 6am. But it was a good gig...now to get myself back on a day time schedule, for my 5:30am call time on Ray Donovan on Monday :giggle:

And a good morning to all! Once you're back on a normal schedule let us know how that shoot was.

I used one of those large LED Maglite combo flashlight/metal baton. Got a decent throw out about 100 yards, which was fine for finding the dog at night. Not sure it would blind a grizzly (actually it probably could) but it sure would be useful to beat the crap out of it while you're being eaten. no one can say you didn't go down without a fight.

Waiting on vape mail this week. Right now scheduled for delivery tomorrow and Tuesday! That always puts me in a good mood.:vapemail:

The one I keep in the truck door is one of those. Maglite with 4 D-cells and would make an excellent defensive weapon... well, so long as you weren't up against a gun-toting carjacker... almost as long as the night stick I carried back in the days when I played cop, but heavier.

Yeah, you can do some serious damage with it. And still use it as a flashlight afterwards. Still, gun beats stick in almost every situation.

I have a couple favorite "light sticks", as we called them :p
one is a 1200 lumen that takes 4 "c" batteries. It has a great focusing lens, and can light up the railroad crossing from my yard, which is a half a mile away.
The other is a 1000 lumen that takes a single 18560, also super bright, I keep in my car for emergencies.

I saved the one you posted, and will tell my son about it, but I doubt if he'd be interested in spending that much. But I need a good small flashlight that will light up to the back fence outside, maybe 10-15 feet. Frankie is white, so he's not so hard to see, but Ozzy is little and mostly black and very hard to see what he's up to when I take him out at night. It would be great if it were from Amazon, since I'm fixin to order a couple things from there for my son. Any suggestions? (hopin he'll spring for the one you posted, but I doubt it).

I used to have two of the mag lights, and loved em, but had to chunk em when we moved. We hadn't used em in awhile apparently, and the batteries were totally corroded in em. One of the the end cap sort of exploded off a little bit when we took it off. Not horribly bad, but enough to shock me and sting my hand a little.

Hey all. Just finished up 3 days of night shoots on Grey's Anatomy. Worn out to say the least. 12 hour shifts. getting home by 6am. But it was a good gig...now to get myself back on a day time schedule, for my 5:30am call time on Ray Donovan on Monday
oh kewl! Hope you get some rest. I had to make sure I stayed on nights cuz I had a day time sleep study on Friday. Was concerned about getting back on days, but my dil helped with that when she called me at 6 this morning to tell me we were under a tornado watch. I started to go back to sleep when I heard the thunder and rain start. I knew the puppy would be scared, so got up to let him out of crate. Took him out to potty and the tornado sirens started going off. Came in turned on the tv, and they were saying they didn't know why they were going off, then later found out it was just an error. Some new guy prolly said...... hmmmmmmm........wonder what that button does :gaah:

Waiting on vape mail this week. Right now scheduled for delivery tomorrow and Tuesday! That always puts me in a good mood.
yippeeeee
