I'd definitely take ya up on that. I was in Canada once for about an hour. Just lookin at Niagra falls from the Canadian side. Before ya needed a passport. Only time I've ever been outta the US. I've head so many places are so beautiful up there. I'd love to visit some time. Early to mid August we're close to 100 degrees here, sometimes over. Jup, that would be a good time to get away. lol

Oh.......and....... wow. I've never seen humpbacks IRL, but wow that would be amazing! I worked with and studied dolphins, whales, and sea lions for many years. Worked with strandings, etc. I love Marine Mammals, but humpbacks are definitely my favorite whale. Belugas are a close second! and grays of course. Oh geeze, it's like pickin a favorite kid! lol

I love Narwhals and Orcas but Id have to say my favorite whale would be the Blue whale! I would love to study dolphins though, since according to Douglas Adams, they are much more intelligent than humans ;)

Good morning all!

Darth, nice looking beach. Thee is something so relaxing about hanging out on a beach.

Deb, glad your granddaughter got to experience some of the trials of pet care. A solid experience to help her appreciate your efforts for all the little creatures.

So yesterday my black frame Therion landed. Have a new black tank supposedly to be delivered today, but looking at the tracking I doubt it will make before tomorrow. Still playing with them mod.
View attachment 78694

You never have to go very far on this island to find a beach and they are all pretty gorgeous. We have a very high iron content in our soil and sand which gives many of beaches a nice reddish color as well as just about all of our fields.

Great looking mod by the way...how was playing hookie yesterday?

Wow how awesome!!!! Nice pics.
Good morning all.

Morning back ATCHA ;) glad you like the pics the little cutie in them is my little girl. (Obviously)

I'd have to agree with him. Ok, so maybe they can't do advanced calculus, but neither can I lol I do love me some Orcas, and would love to see a Narwhal IRL. Can't stand the song though. One night a friend of mine knocked on the door, and said come out here, got sumpthin in my car you gotta see. She also worked with the stranding network. I don't recall what kind of dolphin it was now, but it was very rare for that area. She drove one of those VW Things, remember those? She had a baby dolphin (dead unfortunately) in the back of it. I got to work with one live stranding which was awesome, cuz I worked nights, so on my nights off, I would be there alone with him all night. He was a rough toothed dolphin. They are black. He was given a zero percent chance of surviving the first night, but he lived 18 days and was really improving. But then took a turn for the worse, and died. I wrote a story about him that was actually published in a booklet about Galveston's dolphins.
Jup, Blues are amazing, and of course the largest animal to have ever lived. Love me some pilot whales too. I really miss working with them. I still know quite a bit about them, but have forgotten a lot which I hate. Stoopit brain lol

Sorry. Is this better?
lmao too funny. A little more my style, but you post what you want darlin. Just had to torment ya a little :)

I can't help it. It's the company I keep. My coworkers are nuts too. hehehehehe. They actually made a memorial for a dead frog that's been in the parking lot since Christmas.
roflmao! That's awesome! I do love crazy.

Hey, what's wrong with Disco Duck???
besides everything??? lmao........well yur in love so yur forgiven hehehe

Are you absolutely positive that they cant do advanced calculus? I do understand calculus(not as well as I would like but thats a whole different story) but I would never understand someone explaining it in any language other than english. Dolphins have language but I sure dont understand it...it is entirely possible that they know more about every aspect of the universe than we do ;)

Plus...they do really cool tricks :giggle:

Id love to read that story if you're able to dig up a copy! :D

Newp I'm not really positive that they can't! They can surely do amazing things. And their sonar puts the Navy's sonar to shame! They can detect the difference in two identical shapes, where the only difference is the thickness of a dime. a mm or two. They do have a language, and no I don't understand it, but spending a lot of time with Lance, (the rough tooth that stranded), we actually did communicate. We just seemed to understand each other. It was an amazing experience.

I do have a copy, but it's either in my chest of drawers in my sil's garage, or it's in storage. A week or so ago my son and his dad were gonna move my freezer, chest of drawers and file cabinet over here finally. But a drunk woman drove her car through his dad's apt the night before. Man some folks will do anything to get outta movin stuff! :D He's lucky to be alive. He was lying down, heard some noises (her banging into cars and the carport). Got up, looked out the window just in time to see headlights comin straight towards him. He dove outta the way as she hit and landed on top of the bed he'd been on. Pushed the bed into him, as he dove outta the way. He was ok though. Definitely had angels watchin over him that night. But yeah soon as I can get my hands on it, I'll ask who wanted it cuz I'll likely forget between now and then. lol It's not very long so I could pm it to ya

Jup! Could have ended real bad. They put him in a furnished model apt, but they don't have one available like he was in, so he is likely gonna end up in an efficiency, which he's not too happy about. But hopefully another one bedroom will come available before too awful long. But of course, the main thing is, he's alive and uninjured. Time to get a PO Box though, cuz he keeps having to change his address. lol

Maybe I am (OK, no maybe about it, I am) but not with the duck. I just happen to have always thought it was a great song.
I'm really just messin with y'all, hope you know that. I'm in a nutsy mood today.

In the mean time, I can tell you how Lance got his name. It's a neat story. Everyone got their jammies on and popcorn ready?

Once upon a time there was a marine mammal park in Galveston called Sea-Arama. They got a call about a stranded rough toothed dolphin on Crystal Beach. So they jumped in the truck (that had seen better days), got on the ferry, get over to Crystal Beach. Dolphin is still alive, but barely. Load him up, and coming back to the park, they are on Broadway, one of Galveston's main streets, when the truck breaks down. They have wet towels on the dolphin to try to keep his skin moist, but they are drying out, and it's crucial to get him back to the park as quickly as possible. As they're trying to figure out roughly 350 lb dolphin another 10-15 miles with a broken down truck, they notice a large panel truck has pulled up behind them. It's one of the guys who stocks the vending machines at the park. He recognized the Sea Arama truck and pulled over to help. Without a second though of getting fired, or having to destroy the product in his truck, he told em to load the dolphin in his truck and he'd take them all back to the park. He definitely saved the dolphin's life at that moment. When it came time to think of a name for this animal, it was obvious to all that he should be named Lance because that was the brand of snacks in the truck of the man who stopped and saved him. :)

That really sucks but you're right that the most important thing is that he's alright. Hopefully they'll have the driver held responsible. I know it wont help with the apartment troubles any but hopefully she'll learn her lesson.

Thats awesome! What a great guy helping out like that. I can picture it now, Lance sitting in the truck surrounded by all those snacks thinking "click click clack, clickity clackety, clicky click" which of course means..."man humans eat some weird shit"

lmao! sure that didn't mean, how come those chips come in BBQ, cheddar, green onion.......but no mackerel??? lol

I dunno what the cops did with her. Obviously drunk driving, but dunno if there was any criminal mischief or anything like that. I don't even think the news got hold of this story, nothing about it on the web. I didn't ask him if any news folks showed up. I know sometimes they so those stories. Dunno if folks call em, or they hear it on scanners or what.

It may well have meant that, my dolphinese is very sparse! :giggle::giggle::giggle::giggle:

If you ask my daughter what a dolphin says she replies with "So long and thanks for all the fish"...yup...we're nerds :D

lol that's cute. Oh, and how was swimming??

It was a blast! She wore herself out though. She got really upset when it was time to go, which is a big indicator that she was exhausted....that and the fact that we werent in the car more than 3 minutes before she fell asleep! She's still sleeping now and this was about 2 hours ago lol

Jup water especially swimming always wears em out. I think one because it's so relaxing, but it's also a work out.

Speaking of water, I need to go jump in the shower. I'll probably be back later. Hugs and howdys to everyone!!!

oh, and my granddaughter just turned 8. she has a hamster and has to clean her cage, and it gets mega nasty! I don't remember my hamsters stinkin as bad as Chloe. That girl can put out some stank! But today when I got up, Ozzy had pooped in his crate. No help for that. I hadn't cleaned it up yet as I was waiting for the narco to kick in. So they came in, to get the dogs and take em to the other grandparent's house. I told him it needed cleaning. My granddaughter said ewww he pooped in his crate and it really needs cleaned. I said, well you better get on it then. I dunno if my son heard me or not, but he handed her a couple napkins, and said........sounds like you just volunteered, it's your dog too. She wasn't happy about it, but she did it. I told her that was nothing compared to cleaning out Miss Stanky Chloe's cage. But she still made a production of it. lol

If you really wanted to push the "what's my motivation?" thing this would have been the perfect opportunity to lecture her on the History Of Diapers. :teehee:

Hey Y'all x

Having a great time here, so much fun, even went to a vape bash at Las Americas lol, tried the Ammit Dual RTA, amazing flavor on that one and it uses Goon drip tips, I'll be doing a review on that soon.

You maybe seeing a Rixsta Tank this year :)

Just a quick hello from me and nudie, dunno why she bothered bringing a suitcase lol

Going to the old town today for some piella

Got my puppies back today. Heard my dil bring them this morning on her way to work, then heard Frankie sniffing under my door wanting in. He jumped on the bed and got weirded out a bit. I got an air mattress yesterday! Sooooooooo much more comfortable than the other regular mattress that poked me in all my hurty parts. He didn't know what to think of it at first, but then settled down and we both went back to sleep for a bit. I might need to put a blanket under the sheet to make sure he doesn't poke holes in it with his claws though

Hey all!

Deb, Have you tried mixing the pills(or liquid) into some cream cheese? A friend of mine does that with her dogs meds....it seems to work well.
I haven't tried cream cheese, but have tried a huge glob of pnut butter on bread, meats, etc. His terrier nose smells that pill, and nuttin doin. I can try the cream cheese though, we always have plenty of it here, my dil uses it in everything

Also delicious! One of the benefits of all the iron in our soil here is that its absolutely perfect for growing potatoes. We've got an abundance of every variety of potatoes here so I experiment a LOT in the kitchen with them. Around here "smashed potatoes" are done with reds, yellows, or yukon golds with the skin on and mashed right in with everything else, they also get bacon, green onions and roasted garlic. Your recipe is what we would call a traditional mashed potato, though its more frequently made with milk or heavy cream instead of evaporated(but I prefer evaporated ;) ).

Sounds wonderful! Now I do like what we call loaded smashed taters sometimes. All the stuff you'd put on a baked tater. I actually do whipped taters. I like em real creamy. 1/2 and 1/2 is ok, but I don't really like em done with cream. But if I only have milk, then I'll put some cream in, so it's basically 1/2 and 1/2. I've been deprived of taters for awhile. My dil is trying to cut back on carbs. The last 3 times we bought taters, I'd use 1/2 the bag. She'd clean out the pantry and throw the other 1/2 away cuz there wasn't room or they had eyes on em.
