I went back to a dying thread on ECF regarding the Hana Modz V3 clone where there has been a few posts linking to VaporJoes blog regarding news about the clones. Today I see that "VaporJoe" is now the equivalent to cursing on the ECF. Completely censored! Add to that, and I kinda, sorta understand why, "Vapingunderground" is also censored. I realized this when I couldn't send a direct link in a private message to someone who had asked about the forum. So now there no linking to anything on the blog without complications. There's a lot of good information on the ECF, but I think they may be taking this a bit far at this point... It's not censored because it's distasteful, but rather because of possible loss of traffic? Thoughts?

It's pretty common on a lot of sites. Lot of times controlled by a script. Vbulletin makes it easy to do There are ways around it.

Try pm a message over there like this

My wife told me to do my vaping outside under the ground

Tell the Person your PM'ing to google the bold words

As soon as the these forums were announced, I immediately made a thread on ECF (under the same name), about how I can't wait for these forums to come, and I explained WHY. Of course, a mod just HAD to respond to me, basically saying if you don't like it here, then leave....too which I was thinking "Sure buddy, as soon as vapingunderground launches ;)"

ECF is EXTREMELY moderated....way overboard. I made a thread about vooping, a thread EVERYONE loved, and it got deleted. I was told by a moderator that they don't tolerate talking about dirty things, like vooping. I also had a thread deleted once because I mentioned an e-cig that vaporizes tobacco leaf, instead of e-juice. They obviously immediately thought of herb, but it had nothing to do with that....

Every online forum needs moderation, to keep away trolls, abusive posts, porn, threats, off-topic posts, etc, etc. However, what good is a forum when you can't express yourself without mods constantly trying to scold you for not following some Disney-like idealism.

Thank the HEAVENS for these forums. Thanks Joe, it means a lot that you give us vapers a place to come and discuss things, without the constant BS we deal with on the other forum ;)

I'm firm believer in speaking you mind and saying what is on your mind. I will respect someone a hell alot more if they say shit to my face than behind my back. Now I might like what you have to say, but I will respect you for bringing to my face like a grown ass adult instead of playing school yard bully and saying you cant say this or I'll ban your ass if you post this. Most of the time I"m quite and laid back, but if its on my mind I'm going to say it. That what this country is all about is freedom. Freedom to speak your mind and have your own opinion.

Wow! What is going on? Where has our freedom gone? This country and bureaucrats are trying to turn us into mindless pansies. I defend my right to do,say and be whoever I am. I will no longer be told that I can't do something or say what I want. I vape because it calms me,I enjoy it and I am no longer supporting the tobacco industry. So I say ecf can piss off. Next they will be telling me I can't buy vape where I want :mad: I say we keep the name and defend our right to use it. Vaporizer Joe's :mad:Vaperunderground. Who the hell cares what we call it.

haha I got banned for talking about the TFA flavor mary jane ha !!!! then I proceeded to rebel and welp here I am. I am glad it happened. VU is way better

Sorry to hear this Joe. Frankly, you shouldnt care though. You and I both know MOST of the internet is censored in the first place because of draconian stuff either political, personal, or otherwise. Its a "its my website... its my rules... like it or lump it world". No, it doesnt make sense. Yes, its stupid.

Do I care they do it? No, not really. We gotta respect the rules on different sites, or choose not to use them. Ya vote with your keyboard these days.

From an internet marketing perspective and from a political perspective tho alot of what they do at ecf makes no sense. It doesnt hurt your site at all. Just hurts them in the long run. You dont really need their backlinks anyways. Google will have your forums ahead of theirs in search results soon enough.... lol.

By the way, this isnt new. They havent allowed links to competing forums for years.

I had to try it out of curiosity...it's true...the words just show up as a series of dots...what a dick move...bunch of high school mentality baby crap...a clear case of a forum getting too big and the management becoming self important and arrogant as a result...

I think it's stupid and shortsighted that ECF does crap like this too, but "Freedom Of Speech" doesn't apply...it's a privately owned forum...they can make whatever rules they want...even if the rules suck...we as consumers can choose not to participate in sites like this if we don't care for their practices...and that's likely going to be the result over time as more and more people get fed up with them and sees that there is an alternative site that has it's focus set squarely on the best interests of the vaping community....Seems to me that more and more ECF is focused on ECF and less and less on the vaper themselves...

Can you say Progressive because this is what it is. Is ECF formed in Russia or maybe China? Seems like EFC has failed once again. What were they thinking? Well IM sure when they see all the supporters pulling out Including all mine they may learn this is America and freedom of speech is what this country is based on and what we the people live for. The only word I can think of pertaining to this is (STUPID).

I'm pretty new to the ECF forum and only been a member for a couple months. I've been following VaporJoes blog for even less time but I think it is top notch and I joined this forum after hearing about it on the blog.

That said......why do you think any of you have the right to use ECF to advertise this forum? It seems very dishonest to me for someone to start their own forum and then go over to a competitors forum and try to poach its members which is exactly what some of you in this thread freely admit to doing. In my mind, it is theft. If I owned ECF, I would absolutely do the same thing they just did and add it to the filter.

Look, this forum is going to be HUGE and may likely some day soon eclipse ECF. You obviously have your shit together and a very loyal memberbase. Don't turn this place into an anti-ECF forum where everyone just sits around and bitches about ECF. Don't dedicate any energy into poking at or posting on ECF. You are better than that. Make your own way, set yourself apart from the competition and then concentrate on what you are, not what someone else isn't. Stupid fighting like this polarizes communities and hurts you in the long run.

..........and holy hell, don't contaminate your blog with that kind of petty shit.

Really? You don't have a dog in this fight?? Sounds different to me. Posting links to different forums in other forums is commonplace. It is not advertising, it is communicating. These forums get paid through advertising, and the only reason one forum would ban another is because they are getting too greedy for their own good. Vaperjoes is about freedom of speech and letting people say what they want without fear. This IS the way it should be. Thank you Joe for making a forum we can enjoy without fear from moderators.

I mean just talking about the ECF here is advertising for them right??? So should Vapingunderground ban the use of the word ECF?? Just sayin'

Here is my take. VapingUnderground is liken a little colony in the year 1776. They too were tired of being silenced for speaking out against unjust taxes,laws, and steady losses of freedom over the years. They fought back and refused to be silenced anymore. They wished for freedom of speech, the press, and religion. They fought and they won. Right now the bigger groups are scared of a place they can't force into their mold. We have the freedom to speak our mind here. That was proven when the first troll tried to attack and failed. If this was ECF the thread would have been shut down and deleted afterwards. So you like being herded like cattle go to the other forums. For me and my freedom loving brothers and sisters we found our home.

I don't know what they are afraid of .. but I have a super thread over there, in which I had posted some links back to this forum, and they were all censored/blocked. One of the threads participants actually questioned a Mod about it, but the Mod acted as though it was just a gliche in the system, not an actual ban on VU or VU links... but obviously it is in fact a ban. That being the case, why not just own it? o_O

ECF's days are numbered. Too many clicks and too many assholes running the show. I have seen the same thing happen on some of the car forums I was on.

Well, we all know it is only a matter time before ECF dries up with VU here. I honestly don't wish them anything negative....I just hope the majority of their helpful and friendly users realize that ECF is ALL about CASAA, not about THEM. I personally know that ECF is nothing more than a front for CASAA, and if you dare question CASAA you will get warned, and then banned.
