OK, finally got this thing up and running.
The 510 really needs a note with it, as the adjust is counter-clockwise for up, on the "middle"nut only, leaving the lower nut alone and of course the top one that holds the 510 on the mod too. Easy, if it works - I'm not SURE yet if I fucked something up before figuring it out or not.
uprun1.jpg

Kinda need a different topper - wanted something with more room and air, but lately all my toppers are black or ultem and wouldn't look good.
:(

Mini-review:
  • It's really good for the money. Like $100 for tidy little plastic (see below) box with good silver internals...
  • IF the 510 holds up and doesn't leak, then it's great internals - excellent contact points, silver, nicely shaped, nice button resistance. Good insulation on the strip. Battery fits just right. Really well done - just kinda wish it was an MM 510 for confidence.
  • Nice bottle, pre-cut tube even.
  • I think it's Delrin... Not sure if there's some specific that defines Delrin as opposed to other similar material...
It's thinner walls than my other delrin mods, and a slightly brushed finish. Not as glossy as my Orca or my Vega, but nicely finished.
  • Great door fitment - those bigger magnets on the body - a nice snap, no play, just right.

edit - oh, BTW, this is the Armageddon. Out of stock, but that's short term...and they're just catching up, not restricting supply or anything...

So my tiny little f#ckrz mod is almost done printing. I printed out the sheet for a template to make the contacts but I'm having a hard time find good solid info on what gauge of sheet copper/silver I should buy to make the contacts out of. If any of you have one would you mind giving me an idea? I found some half hard copper 24g I'm thinking about getting. Just looking for some input. Thanks.

P.S. I'm going to make the contacts out of copper first because it's not something I've done before and I'd rather ruin $7 worth of copper on a fumbling attempt than $35+ on silver.

24 gauge is what i use,it gives a nice smooth feel to the button, not too light or hard of a press.

I went that same route. I'm still tinkering with contact designs, deciding which 510 to use, etc.

Once I get it down I'll drop the coin on silver.

Thanks @BrewBear I appreciate that. I also just pm'd @Sonar505 and he told me where he get's his copper from and I think I will go that route. turns out I live just on the other side of the mountains from him lol. I'm going to practice with some copper first then I'll worry about the silver. I'm interested to see if it makes a big difference in my vape experience or not.

@MaxPerilous, I believe @f1r3b1rd posted a link to Otto Frey for sheet sterling silver, the one used for springs not the soft kind. It is about 2 or 3 pages back. He also said he used 28 gauge.
http://www.ottofrei.com/Anti-T...t-Metal-Price-Per-6-x-1-Piece-
I used 28g LG422 grade

Best of luck max! I do notice a difference between the copper and the silver, very slight as far as vape goes, but also much less demanding on maintenance. I was cleaning the copper contacts much more often.

My toaster from shapeways should arrive Monday
Have an extra set of boxer contacts from Gingervaper I'm going to use for it, hopefully they fit as is.
I was going to get a Toaster and got a Boxer instead. I have heard a lot of negative stuff about them ( the company, not the mod) but, I like the form factor and the way the switch locks. Can't be any worse then sending my money off to china. lol I'm hoping for a good experience and barring that at least a good vape. We shall see.

Plus I didn't want to spend money on two mods I have to build myself. Figured I could vape one while I build on the other. That, and fuck is like my favorite fucking word and it's pretty much printed right on the side of the TLF lol.

Anyone have the measurements on the Fat Daddy V4 BF Mech 510?! I'm planning on ordering a Little Orca enclosure and I know I need a 2mm deep 22mm wide shelf for it, but I can't for the life of me find how wide the hole is for the threading... I have a feeling it's 10mm but I can't find the information on it to save my damn life!

I think your right, should be 10mm,that's the size drill/tap he sells.I haven't used that version of 510 from him,but all the others i've used were always 10mm.

Thanks for the confirmation. It's super frustrating when you can't find vital info like that when you're planning a build. Then again I could just get digital calipers and never worry about it again...

Weird, the non exploded view shows the mech 510 diagram, but when I clicked the extra link, it only shows the 2...either way...

The black one is almost everything I want... except for these doors. These ugly plexiglass doors. I just can't do it. If they come out with regular black delrin doors then I'll be the first in line!

FINALLY scored one of the mech sqounks i thought i would never own. I got a Thir13en mech sqounker on its way direct from the modder. Didnt have color choice, it was the color they call smokey or nothing. Which is a brown/bronzish color. So i bought it, over paid a little (quite a bit). I just wanted one so bad, for so long that i had to grab it when i had the chance. Never see one go up for sale. Especially direct from the modder.

Will post pics when it gets here..........You guys dont know how fucking happy i am :stars:

Ok I really need give props to Stefan at ModThinX on FB...

His FB page admin and I asked if he would do Glossy Juma doors ever, saying that his matte finish ones look really nice but believe them glossed would make things pop.

Get a message of thanks from him about pushing his door/panel game and is sending me these tomorrow

I would try a MM510 (get the large positive nut as well), and the contacts for the authentic are sold on gingervaper's website for 20 some bucks. Over twice what you paid for the clone in upgrades but if it's 1/1 and everything fits it would be worth it IMO.

The clone is def, def not 1:1. I have a real boxer on the way and will post differences when it gets here lol. Honestly from what I can tell of photos i've seen is the only thing actually cloned is the shape and name. Inside it's totally different.

That's what I'm wondering though because I don't think it's a 1-1 clone. The clone has this screw plate that holds the contacts and I couldn't see anything like that in the real boxer pics.

Did you order the 18650 or 20700? I've been thinking about getting an authentic but I'd definitely want the 20700

That's one the major differences. The OG has a delrin piece at the bottom and the contact is secured with a single screw on the bottom.

Customized as in Doors, Buttons, Colors? and 20700? Probably the Bolt Mod(18650)( Limited # of 20700s right now and randomizer)) for readily available stuff...but Best, that really is subjective...

Can pick a 20700 mod and I am sure one of the accessory modders can make you whatever you want.

You'd most likely need to narrow the parameters in your question since it is rather broad spectrum as stated. Do you want mech or regulated, single or dual battery, 3D printed or delrin or stab wood. What level of customization do you want? The best is also a matter of opinion and preference. I personally prefer regulated mods and the best MOSFET dual battery mod (IMHO) is one of 5 made by @Studiovape . The customization was done by the man himself and all I do is enjoy the fruits of his labor. Is is the best? To me and the other 4 lucky owners, it is. The best regulated dual battery (maybe DNA75?)bI don't believe has been made yet, but I may be wrong. The best mech mod? Totally a matter of opinion IMHO.

Time to ask studio vape to help me build one ^^
