Yeah, I lost my lifetime best friend (we met in first grade!) in 2011 -

I ran across a letter she wrote me a couple of months ago and I just burst into tears looking at it - and I'm not a tear prone person at all.

One of the names I ran across was a girl who lived on my street, knew her since 1971... We didn't get along, didn't even like each other much... but to see that someone you knew as a child died of an accidental OD 36 yrs ago... It just feels really weird.

Another was a guy who also lived on my street, much closer to my own home, and we actually were very good friends, as our moms were too. He died in 2002... but I happen to know that he suffered juvenile diabetes that was never very well controlled, so the fact that he lived to 39 is actually kinda miraculous.

I actually had a bit of an appetite last night. But after I ate I felt worse.

I had kind of a bad night, myself; I felt just fine after dinner, right up till bdtime, but once I was in bed, I started having chills again... so I had to get up and take some ibuprofen and put on a warmer shirt... so my sleeping was kinda disturbed, instead of deep and refreshing. At least I know that the antibiotics I took, azithromycin, keep working for like 10 more days after you finish taking them, so at least the medicine is still working to get rid of the last of the bronchial infection.

I think I developed that infection because the amount of chest congestion from the flu was SOOOO extreme, and that flu was fucking wicked as far as draining ALLLLLLLLLLL your energy, so I didn't have the strength to cough it up and get it out before it turned bacterial. So try to keep coughing that shit up, even if it wipes you out completely to get it done... otherwise you WILL need antibiotics.

Woke up in a piss poor mood today. Outside kitties coming in heat and the boy kitties are using loud bad language with each other which means Rascal wants to go out there and have a word with them on their language. Needless to say all this is goin on when I am trying to sleep. :gaah:

Glad to hear you and hubby are feeling better @AndriaD

Hope you get to feeling better soon miss @Atchafalaya

Thx choppie. :)

You should see our lil fraidycat when the neighborhood kitties start yowling: she'll come to the door of my room (where she knows she's not permitted to enter!) and start her own yowl chorus, apparently saying "do you HEAR what those assholes are doing out there?" Back and forth from my door to the sliding-glass door, just wigged the fuck out. :D

Today cannot help but be a better day than any in the last 2 wks: I'm finally having BACON! again. :) Had some beef last night, one of those Healthy Choice bowls, teriyaki beef, and it went down just fine, so I figure the tumtum is ready for bacon. :) Plus a blueberry eggo. Nom nom nom.

Breakfast was awesome. Got both mail items I was eagerly anticipating, my Ventolin inhalers and my bloodwork results from the doc visit last week. I seem to be pretty healthy, considering that at the time, i felt like absolute death not even slightly warmed over. The total serum glucose is a bit on the high side, though still within normal bounds -- 97, in a reference range of 65-99mg/dL -- considering that I was basically fasting while drinking ginger ale, that's not terribly surprising i suppose. My A1c is 5.1, which is heading into a higher area, but still well within normal bounds, so that's a relief, given that fast+liquid sugar I was consuming at the time.

My HDL is pretty low, though my total cholesterol, LDL, and triglycerides are all also pretty low, so I guess that's nothing much to worry about. The liver enzymes look pretty normal, with total protein .1 too high, which I think is explained by the viral+bacterial infection I was suffering, and something called the "ALT" is one point too high, which might mean either nothing, or is a reflection of that same ailment. A really weird one is that my uric acid is VERY low, <1.5 in a reference range of 2.5-7mg/dL, and I have no earthly idea what that signifies, if anything, other than the fact that i was quite ill, fasting, and drinking liquid sugar (ginger ale).

So I reckon the ol bod is good for a few more years on this mortal coil, though i was seriously questioning that while battling this motherfucker of a flu bug. My husband's temp as you may recall shot up to 104F, and I think I was protected from that type of "immune cascade" (cytokine storm) by the fact that I inhale steroids daily, and steroids tend to depress the immune system.

Speaking of debasing - it's almost time for my buddy's virtual wake and the local chapter of the Bad Choices Club will simaltaniously lift a toast to our departed friend :(

Before he died, he asked that we listen to this song for the first toast in his wake

Hope you get to participate in some good old fashioned debauchery

Well I did eat too much but the award for debauchery would have to go to Rascal. I couldnt finish what was given to me yet never fear, Rascal made small work of the rest of my steak and potato.

Congrats! I don't think I've even seen the sun in over 2 wks -- last payday, jan 31, it was sunny... after that, I basically melted into the sofa and the weather crashed too, gray/rain/gray/rain etc etc etc. Still gray... but actually it was probably a good thing, the moist air and moderate temps, while I was fighting the flu.

You'd only need antibiotics if it turned into a bacterial infection; they won't help the flu one fucking iota. If you still feel just as bad or possibly worse after you've had the flu for a solid week, THEN you go to the doc and get antibiotics. Too bad you didn't go and get tamiflu, though; it shortened my husband's flu quite a bit, but needs to be started within 48 hrs of symptom onset.

Andria
I went to the doctor yesterday and it went into Bronchitis but she still would not give me antibiotics. I do have a Tamiflu. Evidently it hasn't worked well. I also had the flu shot. I got a lot worse that's why I haven't been on. Have to keep an eye on my temperature in case it goes into pneumonia. But I think I am getting better as I do have steroids too

Everytime I breathe my whole chest rattles. They charge me an arm and a leg 2. I think you have to be half dead in this town in order to get my antibiotics. It was only a year ago this time that my dentist almost killed me by not giving me antibiotics

Right now I am hating doctors and hating the flu. And heading bronchitis. Anyway I will have lost a whole week's worth of pay. Which is about $1,000. It will take me a couple of months to catch up but hopefully I will be well soon. Love you guys! I'm sorry for bitching!

Geez. can't believe they wouldn't give you antibiotics for bronchitis! That azithromycin is perfect for that, you only have to take it for 5 days, while it keeps working for 10, and it only costs about $30-ish. It helped me immensely! I still have a little bit of the chest rattle, the coughing-up, but it's getting better. Also, get something with guaifenesin to help you cough it up and get rid of it.

So..y'all remember the car I had the transmission rebuilt in back in October of 2017? Well the car is no more. I was on my way to work this afternoon, a lady on a Toyota van pulled out in front of me and I tboned her. Just got home from the ER. No broken bones just basically seat belt pain in my chest, shoulders and back.

Thanks guys I really do appreciate it. I do feel better I just wish I had some antibiotics. I was able to take the trash down that's a plus.
Choppy, glad you got to go to a party.
Cromwell, so happy that your blood work turned out great!
Andria, if I'm not a lot better by tomorrow I'm going to another doctor. In another town.
Juicy sweet Lucy, thanks for just being you and letting me bitch all I want.
Lynn... I just don't know what to say except for I hope that person is going to buy you a new car!
If I missed anyone I apologize as I am highly medicated.
I have to force myself to eat something now even so I can't taste anything. At least I can swallow though and that's a plus side right? Love you all!

I agree with Juicy, bitch all you wanna, because that shit is NASTY -- the only reason I didn't bitch and whine more was lack of energy and breath to drag myself to the PC, most days! And yeah I'd definitely consult another doc; you need the antibiotics BEFORE it turns into pneumonia, bcause if you wait, you're gonna end up getting them IV in the hospital, which is even LESS fun! Fucking sadistic nurses! Be warned though, that zithromax will give you godawful diarrhea! I think I'm finally over that, but maybe won't know for sure about that for another day or two.

Toast with honey goes down pretty easily, shouldn't upset your tummy, and the honey will give you energy to endure and keep fighting it. I lived on toast w/honey and cheese toast for about 4 days there.

I decided to give myself a little reward, for enduring that nasty shit for the last 2 wks -- my phone case has been looking really raggedy, so I ordered this one to replace it:

Okay Fugees - off to Los Anchorage tomorrow to take Mr Juicy to yet another neurologist

We will have to be making a run to Walmart and need advice on what to wear; sadly, I don't own Crocs or lounging pants

So here's the dilemma on outfits : wools socks/sandals with sweat pants or Extras Toughs and basketball shorts

Hmm.. not too differebnt from my purple CF4, but that mod is so damn flaky, neither my son nor myself will leave the house with it anymore; sometimes it just won't fire, or turns itself off, etc. Really hate that, I love the color of it, but a pretty colored mod is uesless if it won't vape!

Mornin' I'm still too sore to breathe but I was told it will get better. A bit fuzzy headed because of the muscle relaxers and ibuprofen. I'll make it though. I have to start dealing with insurance companies...I need a car as mine is not driveable. :(

I hope everyone has a good day. :)

And how are you today Ms Atcha?
I took my temperature and the fever is gone. I did try to get some antibiotics but she would not give them to me. I slept pretty good finally last night. And I'm actually trying to cook up some chili with some cayenne pepper for boosted immunity. The only problem is that I can't taste or smell anything. So I have no clue what I will be eating later LOL. Thank you for asking darlin :blowkiss:

Mornin' fuggers. I slept SOOOOOOOO well last night! I think it's because it was the first time in 2 wks I felt well enough to sleep in my usual manner -- sans garments -- and I didn't wake up even ONCE all night. Bliss!!!!!!!!!!!
