OK, OK, it snowed all last night and all day today, but it never seemed really heavy. The wind (about 20g30 all day) kept moving the snow from one place to another. That is, after shoveling off the porch, 30 minutes later it had 4-5 more inches on it, mostly blown in from the yard. I would say that the flat areas had, on average, 5-6 inches with most drifts being about 10-12 inches deep, but when I staggered out to get the mail (using a shovel to stay upright instead of my usual ski pole or cane), I had to dig out about 18 inches to get the gate open far enough to squeeze my ass through. Average that all together and it probably would not be overly unreasonable to claim we had 8 inches. But it is not done. It is still snowing and isn't supposed to stop until after sunrise tomorrow.
The high temperature today was 27 ºF, so the wind chill was about 11 ºF. It is 23 ºF out there right now and the wind is about the same, so it feels like 5 ºF. We have not let any of the cats out of the house for the last 24 hours (no winter coats) and did not let the chickens out of the coop. The garage chickens, for the most part, were smart enough to not come outside. The horse/cows came out to eat the hay in the bale feeders, but mostly stayed in the barns (adding more shit to the mess). None of them have winter coats yet either. I wish Lannie and I hadn't had to go out in that crap, but put on your blanket pants, high boots, and heavy winter coats because somebody has to go take care of the critters.

Hope this shit isn't the actual beginning of winter....as you've said, there is a lot of things to get done yet. Hopefully that fucking bobcat is completed soon, and I hope you can get wood and the roof repaired.....lots of hopes, but who knows
Naw.... Next week the temps should be back up in the 40s, maybe even an occasional 50, but the "summer" temps will not be back until next June. Once this snow is gone, I have to get back on the roof and pour more goop on the seams because no one is coming this year to fix my roof properly, and unless my neighbors are planning a surprise wood party, there will be no firewood either. I'm just gonna have to pay through the ass to use electric heaters all winter. (seriously, stress is making me dream about a pack of Camels).

I know what you mean, been there myself, but also resisted it. With some luck, if you get all the material for the roof I wouldn't mind driving up there next summer and knock that roof out with a guy who work for me....shouldn't take a day to do that.

Plus two days to get here and two days back (minimum) and even though you might be able to do the labor in one day, that assumes I have all the required materials here on site, or it would be off to Rapid and back and kill another day. A weeks worth of expenses (food, motels, gas) for two guys and we are talking about more than the value of this house. I really do appreciate the offer, however.

I would guess the Chinese do not use clean-room technology, especially if the product is bound for their enemy -- US.

Here's another interesting fact: 90% of the pharmaceuticals sold in the US are generic. 80% of the ingredients in those are produced overseas, where FDA inspections are seriously declining. The article goes on to say this is how carcinogens and other impurities end up in our drug supply. And no one in the entire supply chain (except the patient) actually cares. Yes, not even your own damn doctor.

I have never gone to their site, so I am not sure exactly what they are selling, but these ads have various pictures that are supposed to make me want to check them out. Whether she is a liberal or not, she is not unique. A lot of the pictures from that porn site have big asses, so it must be a trend. And, have you ever watched the movie Pluto Nash? There is one scene in there where they are at a "body shop" (on the moon) and he is trying to convince the doctor his girlfriend needs a new ass, so they show what she would look like with an ass bigger than the one in the picture above. Well, it is starting to melt. Temp got all the way up to 39 today, but most of the melt is from the bottom up... the ground has been warmer than the air for the past week. We still have 2-3 inches and there's still a foot at the gate that I'll have to dig out in the morning before I can go over to a neighbor's to get wheat for all them damn chickens.
I just found out today that the storm that hit us Wednesday night through Friday morning was just the southern edge of something huge. North Dakota had an all out blizzard almost as bad as the one we had six years ago... lots of cattle died, etc. Sure glad that part of the storm missed us.
