HIC, wanted to share a horror story with a good ending experimenting with one of your recipes. Carribean Cooler late last night.

Had everything in the recipe except for the apricot, but was not to be deterred! I added 1% of FA pineapple instead, since was planning to add anyway. Well, pineapple flavor didn't work they way my brain thought it would and the result had a sickening aspect. WAY too much pineapple!

Now, I had only mixed about 6-7ml but I'm such a penny pincher couldn't fathom letting it waste! Time to attempt a repair! I added 2% FA Lemon Sicily and 1% FA Pomegranate. Shook the bejesus outta it and it wasn't too bad. Still getting pineapple but it's much subdued now and I will finish this off tonight. Kinda spoiled my want of pineapple for the near future though.

I guess 1% pineapple is too high or I don't like the flavor as much as I thought? Taste buds have been a bit weird of late so maybe that's it.

Have you tried any of FA's fruits? None of those are candy flavors. If you like real apricots, I think FA Apricot is one you gotta try, if you try only one. If you like lemon - especially if other brands have tasted like plastic or cleaning products to you - Lemon Sicily is another. If you like dark berries but want to try only one, I recommend Forest Fruits (or is it Forest Mix now?) If you prefer lighter fruits, then White Peach instead.
....
Fast forward one month.
Holy shit this is good!
I just got this in a week or so ago, and finally got around to giving it a spin as a stand alone at 3%. Wow. To date, this is the best single flavor mix I've had. I'm glad I bought a 10ml bottle instead of a 3ml sampler, 'cause it's going to get used a lot.

Nope! It depends entirely on your tastes. I know, for instance, that HIC uses max VG and doesn't steep :)

one more question. i have strawberry and i have sweet cream both FA.. anyone have an idea of how much of each i should use for a nice creamy strawberry?

Hmm, trying to remember - I *think* I used fairly equal proportions of both - you might try 2% of each? If not enough flavor, try bumping the strawberry up to 3%?

My taste buds don't work very well after 25 years of chain smoking, but I found the cream to be overpowering at anything above a 1:3 ratio of cream to strawberry.

Yes, I may have remembered wrong. My tastebuds are also very funky after 40 years of smoking LOL

Well, I'm not a steeper, and I'm pretty happy that way. :)

Some flavors will change some as they age in a mix. I've found Cinnamon Ceylon can gain strength, the Lime flavors lose their zip, recipes with Vienna Cream or Cookie or Catalan Cream can taste smoother/richer, Anise and Licorice fade fast... Those are the main ones I watch for. I mix my recipes to accommodate that, usually to take advantage of their flavor when fresh-mixed.

If you vape FA's tobaccos, it's a whole different ball game. Those can change change completely, and repeatedly, as they age.

Probably NOT your taste buds, Havok! I find FA Pineapple fairly mild (compared to others) as a standalone flavor, but it can be a bossy flavor when combined with some others. I suspect FA Coconut makes Pineapple taste a lot stronger. I was making a creamy ambrosia mix with coconut, pineapple, mandarin, and creams - and pineapple was overwhelming. I tracked it down to Coconut. I had to reduce the pineapple a lot get a balanced flavor. Now when I use Pineapple in recipes, I start really low and work it up. Mmmm, it's great in tiki-bar cocktail recipes!

I have FA Pineapple, FA Coconut, and FA Jamaican Rum. I think I'll make me a Pineapple Malibu. :)

I'm thinking:
2% Jamaican Rum
2% Pineapple
1% or .5% Coconut.

HIC, what'cha think?

AMBROSIA!!! NOW WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT!!!
Were you successful?

Yeah, I like several versions of it. Pineapple, mandarin, coconut, maybe TFA Maraschino Cherry - mixed with a combo of Fresh Cream, Marshmallow, maybe Meringue. Or fluffy ambrosia cake using the fruits with fresh cream and a dot of a verboten cake. I've been using FW's Extreme Ice in tiny bits to get a cold mouth without the menthol flavor. When that works, it's great. When I taste menthol, ueergh..

Flavor resurrection - Bergamot makes Grand Marnier, woo-hoo! Thought I'd never find a use besides Earl Grey tea, but this is way better than tea.

FA Brandy, Orange, and Bergamot in a ratio from 1:1:1 to 2:1:1 works great for cocktail recipes! It's definitely Grand Marnier, because of the Brandy. Grand Marnier is a brandy-based liqueur of "floral bitter oranges." Bergamot is a floral bitter orange, but it needs Orange to take it down a notch.

I have a test recipe of Grand Marnier zabaglione in one tank, Grand Marnier Mousse with Chocolate Liqueur in another tank. These are makin' me hungry!

Haha. That's just about how I just made it. I used marshmallow AND meringue. Instead of cake, cap vanilla custard at 1%. Still needs some tweaking, but it's coming along...

Has anyone tried Pure Vapes Lemon Creme Puff? I just got some today and it is absolutely delicious I am sure it has some of the custard notes because it really does taste like a puff! My question is does anyone know which lemon is being used ?I don't think it is lemon Sicily unless he is combining it with something else but I think is the best lemon flavoring I have ever tasted.

I wish flavor art had a flavor that could make the puff part!

I haven't tried that flavor, but I've read detailed descriptions of it that lead me to believe it uses FA's Croissant flavor, one of the Kitchen flavors. Entirely my hunch, though.

Have you tried IW Biscuit? It's described as a 'buttery' flavor.....I want to get it, but it makes me think it's something I should avoid!

My concern was more with those flavors sometimes coming with chemicals I'd rather not develop a taste for LOL I'm not overly concerned about diacetyl and such, but I'd like to know!

When I was buying his pre-mades, that was one of my ADV. YUMMY stuff, but yeah, I figured the same in regards to custard notes. I do know it has several flavorings in it according to Ben. I ran into him one day, he would give me clues on flavorings, but never vendor names, lol.

Looks awesome work is so unfair. Lol. I have not had time to mix anything. Luckily I a lot of juice hanging around. One day ill have time for fun again
I know the feeling, I am going to mix something tonight though after work (woo hoo). I got a pretty big order in of a lot of FA tobacco and some fruits, a few TFA and I think something from FW. Black cigar came in from VZ too...I want to mix one recipe idea of mine, still trying to copy Roar's peach too, but also want to mix a few of HIC's recipes and some of smokey's to get me going with tobaccos. I have not really made many at all yet, or at least no blends of tobacco, or desert types.

Its like FA cookie + a hint of spice like nutmeg maybe and its much more potent 0.75-1% does it for me. My first stand alone to sample Biscuit was 1.5% and I just tasted that again - no butter notes, more so AP and very similar to cookie. I dont find it to be "buttery" at all stand alone. The Spicy Biscuit, I have not tried yet - that one may be buttery- idrk.

Well it's been a while since I posted here. First off, thank you for the suggestions offered.

I think I have decided, at least for right now, I don't like water or saline as part of my mixes. So as of right now everything is VG VT nic plus VG plus flavoring.

In mixes containing fresh cream I still get a hint of the chemically/chlorine taste that I smell in the concentrated flavor even at tiny percentages. My pineapple still has a slightly oiniony taste (tried wllmc's pina kolada and the onionyness does not complement it well). The Irish cream still tastes Hershey's chocolate syrupy to me (made HIC's Irish cream milkshake and I get the slight chemically fresh cream and chocolate syrupy taste there also). It would be nice to try someone else's fresh cream, Irish cream and pineapple to see if mine taste normal or if there is an issue. If anyone would be willing to send me a small sample of them in VT nic and VG (and possibly an unflavored VT nic plus VG sample, more on this later in the post) I live in Loveland Colorado and will gladly pay for supplies and shipping.

On a couple of positive notes, I mixed up HIC's limoncello torrone parfait and it is a winner! Today I decided to try the same recipe with melon instead of lemon, since they are made up of the same letters just shuffled around, and it too is deliciousness in a bottle! I am finally starting to see some hope in DIY, thank you HIC!

Wllmc, I would love to hear some more of your thoughts on FA in a dripper. What percentages would you recommend for standalone flavors compared to, say, HIC's notes on single flavors?

On a vaprestek nic note, and i apologise if this is not the right place to post this, I received a replacement bottle from Kevin. I sent him a lengthy email with my experiences a few days ago and have not heard back yet so wanted to ask here for those that have tried it. When you smell the bottle of VT nic, what exactly do you smell? If you have tried it unflavored in VG, do you taste anything? Does anyone get a burning sensation in the back of the throat and nose or get a runny nose when vaping it? I get a slightly chemically/burnt or hot rubber smell from the bottle of nic, I taste this also in an unflavored mix even down to 3mg/ml (the taste/smell is not present when vaping my VG straight). I get a burning sensation in the back of my mouth/throat/nose when vaping the VT nic unflavored at 3mg/ml and the burn gets stronger at higher mg/ml mixes. Also, for some reason I seem to get a runny nose when I vape the VT nic... It is not bad at 3mg/ml but gets worse at higher mixes.

Well, that's me for now. I hope everyone has a great rest of their day.
