Then there is the madness that is hybrid wire.
Guach on Instagram has been coming up with some crazy stuff lately. Basically various wire types combined in one. This one is my favourite of his that he's done lately. Works on the same principles as staged where the wire ramps up differently for different sections.

I have a question so I gave the smok tfv4's another shot when I found out they had a rebuildable deck just for claptons so I've been using it and I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if it's just because it's a rba but I'll take a puff and hear a little sizzle nothing crazy but even when I spot it goes on for a second or so is that just the juice getting into the cotton after going threw the coils it doesn't taste burnt I've just never heard it like this but I never used claptons in a tank before

My Bellus does this with the framed staple I have in it now, and with the fused clapton I had in before that. I'm 99% sure it's just the wire being hot enough to vaporize juice for a second even after releasing your fire button, but I'd be interested if someone has another idea.

I'm going with retained heat of the coil continuing to work on the juice a little. No biggie. Happens in big build RDAs too.

I finally made enough Alien Wire to make a sub standard coil to try out...Instead of the normal routine I made it a Fused Clapton instead of a 3 Core....

And for my Entry to @CrazyChef ....Ill be making more wires with some inspiration from your recent builds..
Something a threw together to make myself feel better since Ive been neglecting Coil Bulding lately....

First attempt at a quad coil, so I kept it simple. 2x28N/38N fused Claptons. Great vapor, but only so-so flavor. I think that's because it needs way more power than my iStick 100W can put out. Gotta save up for a DNA200.

Dang, they could be twins! :D
Yea maybe if I didnt rush the build and had it turn out cleaner...I only had half hour to build something before I had to get my daughter off the bus and thats what I threw together quickly before going out for her...Im just glad I finished it before having to leave. I think I like the look better with them smaller with more wraps, perhaps Ill revisit it with 2x30g/40 and see how it turns out.....

Staged caterpillar. These are easier than I thought they would be.

4 core? I like using a Staple setup with .5/.8 Ribbon/26g Cores and then using 32g/34g and using enough force to sandwich everything nice and tight....I dont see how TM gt his sooo flat and wide without them breaking, Ive gotten it to flatten enough where the outer core broke and it still wasnt as wide as TM's and this other pic shows...
Not wide as in core width but wide as in the flattened wire width. It looks like his wire going across is the only wire in his build...

This is one of the builds in the future I wanted to try...I love flattening builds, spending time perfecting something and making more surface area, and it makes the over all build look cooler IMO. I would love to try Alien Catapillars once I master the Alien Wire...

Lol, well so much for that idea. Maybe with much thinner wire...
Try 30g or 32g/40g and you should be good, I didnt mean Dual Coil I meant for the Quad, just wasnt thinking...
Note: The Inner wire makes the most difference, the outer wire doesnt, You dont even need to install the outer clapton into the posts(they dont need to be inserted with the inner wire)as they are for wicking purposes...just FYI

Actually, I think the fused Claptons have more flavor. But I usually use dual coils and the Caterpillar I posted is only a single coil, so the results will be different.

Here's another Caterpillar I tried. I'll post coloring pics tomorrow when the light is right.

Staged space alien? I dont know what i did, i mean, besides totally screwing up my wrap, but i ended up with this. 3x28k core 32k wrap 22k parallel. Firing at .15 ohms. Gonna wick it up and hopefully this'll be one of those "happy accidents".

Took a little coercing getting second set of leeds thru on each coil but worked out nicely in the end. Seemed like the appropriate build for the velocity and i was right. 26k dual parallels, 7 wrap with 1/8 id and firing @ .22 ohms. Flavor is stupendous and vapor is cool even at 120 watts.

So as I get better and better and delve into more intricate clapton builds I find it obvious that I need an RDA that can handle bigger builds. Something that can handle everything. I think that means I'm looking for a two post RDA design. Anyone got one they can thrown any build at, that also offers the flavor we all want with our claptons?!

Thanks guys :)

Been playing with simple helix claptons lately. This one's 40/28 kanthal claptons with 34g kanthal in the grooves. Ohms out to .44.
helixclaps2.jpg

Fixed connection problems, evened-them out, and took another pic.
helixclaps.jpg

Thus far, I'm liking the results. They're fun and easy to do. Flavor ain't too shabby neither. I just need to make some small tweaks to make it a faster, more comfortable vape on my series mod. I like this coil type a lot for my Sigelei 150w. I think Imma hold off trying to do more of these for series until I fill the gaps in my gauges. I need 30g and 32g really badly for these. I wanna do some classic TM-style clapton helix claptons.

These trials have made me realize that I really need a torch. This shit is mad springy. I was actually taking tweezers and rotating the wraps after pulsing to match-up the twists and diameter of each wrap.

If you want a two-post, Velocity. A lot of people in this thread are using them. I'd also like to recommend a 4-post, the Twisted Messes RDA, which is what I'm using. You can clapton your claptons, twist them together, helix claptons around it, and clapton a twisted clapton over top of it with no trouble - it'll fit through the posts with room to spare.

I will second the vote for the Twisted Messes RDA and the Velocity. I they both have alot of room to play with and excellent airflow. The velocity I am using is a Tobeco clone, but it does have a peek insualtor. They sale for $10-15 depending on where you look. the TW RDA is original and I caught it on sale for around $35.

Third! My two daily drivers are the Velocity and Twisted Messes. They're both great in their own way and indispensable for building.
