Oh..excuse me. v.3 Wow.
All I know is when my kid is on skype, playstation, and minecraft all at the same time
I can't watch youtube and have Alex Jones raise my BP.

Even youtube has said in a pop-up when a flick is taking a long time to buffer
that it's uverse fault and I should get comcast..

Right. As long as it's docsis and less than 200 bucks (50 would be better)
I'm most concerned with the wire. The cust serv chicks on the phone or comcast store have no clue and I haven't seen an installer to ask. I have plenty of rg6 from a new tv antenna install, but maybe they'll want crappy wire or rg8...
Guess I have to go drive around..and find a guy..If I do he (or she) will probably wanna sell me a hot modem
Only 3rd party contractors are hot! ;)

Well, our choices are comcast, direcTV, or dish network. We already know that comcast sucks a huge weenie, and we're sick of 'em. We've heard that satellite transmission from dish network may be substantially inferior than from direcTV... and direcTV really wasn't bad at all, a few glitches here and there, but nothing major -- it was the 2nd yr ambush that really pissed us off, but now, "forewarned is forearmed."

On the custSvc side of things.... I had a few infuriations with direcTV, but on the whole, it wasn't too bad. With Comcast, there was a period of about 4-5 months at the end of last year when I had to spend more than an hour every month on the phone with some IDIOT in custSvc, who tried to tell me that they DID speak english, but they certainly did NOT, and trying to get them to understand that I was not going to pay for a svc call for a MALFUNCTIONING CABLEBOX to someone incapable of understanding english -- TWICE! -- was probably the most infuriating experience of my life. So they can FOAD; I may have to keep internet from them, to keep high-speed, and for a while I'll still get phone from them... but soon, I'll be redirecting our TV dollars to a company where the custSvc folks actually DO speak english.

I'm just going to learn Tagalog.
The secret is you really have to call them in the daytime..and hang up until you get somebody who sounds fluent.
Then hopefully the fluent person is also fluent in tech.

I've spent more than my share of time on hold for ATT,
it really peeves them (and me) that I seem to know more than their techs.
Guess knowledge is a dangerous thing..at least other folks knowing you're more intelligent than a dead frog is

Dish and Hughes are about the same in quality.
I'm told Dish is easier to steal by changing the code in a FTA receiver.
But..having worked in the television industry I really don't watch much TV
and what I do like I can get online

He's doing great, just turned 3 months the other day. Seems like last week we brought him home from the hospital.

And sorry, my prices aren't correct. They range from $65-150 on Amazon. Personally I'd get that and a decent router, I have the surfboard along with my Asus RT-AC68U wireless router. It's a dual band router so it has both 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks along with guest network. Both are secure and plenty fast for me, with numerous smart tvs, gaming systems and computers on it.

I really haven't seen any hot 3rd or 1rst parties, but I have been offered hot "open" modems
by comcast cable installers...

I did hold the ladder for a HOT ATT contractor chick once..but then I had to contest the $80
inside wire fee she charged me even though she never set foot in my house.
They always wanna blame crap in the their crossbox to my wire..never is my wire fault.
I have to tell them repeatedly that it's category 6, put up by an engineer (me) and his best friend
an ATT install tech who shall remain nameless

When you call Comcast, do it during the week, 9-5 and ask for Customer Retention that will get you to the real Comcast in Whitemarsh MD! ;)

Cool. I need to spit on yer kid so as not to lay the evil eye...
I truly envy your having a new one, man. Mine is 13 now..time flies.

Yea, I have good routers WIFI and not..
All I need is a good modem 'cause I'm not gonna rent one..13 year old kids are expensive too.

The custSvc for any cable or satellite co. makes me really appreciate the custSvc from our electric and gas companies (EMCs), and also custSvc at VISA and BofA. That bank could piss off the pope, but their custSvc is outstanding, probably the best thing about BofA. And VISA's custSvc is just top-notch; I guess that's what they use a lot of that interest for, paying people to actually act like they give a damn -- and they speak clear American english!

Man, MD...! The last time I was in MD the streets were littered..
Ok, the last time I was in Washington DC I counted 144 hookers on M street and saw 4 separate BJ's going down
in 4 separate cars with Government license plates so
the litter in MD is negligible.

Hey, that's the same secret to getting ATT to do something.
Though I've found I can develop a working relationship with
the ATT techs in India if I talk religion with them...

wanna bet?
When a customer buys the whole package the box comes wide open
The installer "loses" the box..installs another one and finds a guy like me

My AC repairman and old ham buddy watches free tv...

LOL...bet you never had to call BoA or VISA at 2 in the morning.
See, my schedule is half assed backwards. To get in line with the rest of the normal world
I'd have to move to Hawaii or China. So I end up talking to Flipinos and Hindus all the time.

That depends where you live in the US, Comcast has bought many cable companies, here in Richmond, open boxes sink, all the new ones have a IP and have to be flashed to activate.

I ditched Time Warner and got Dish. I love it. The only time I lost signal was during a heavy wet snowfall. Other than that, it's been great. My shows don't disappear off the DVR for no reason like they did with cable. I do still have their internet though. Dish internet is terrible.

Hmm... You might be right. I used to call BofA custSvc a lot, but it was daytime. And I think the only time I had to get custSvc on the phone at VISA, it was also daytime, because I had just brought in the mail -- to find, from VISA, a letter with MY FULL CREDIT CARD NUMBER written on it.... I went paperless with them as soon as I got the card, to avoid just that situation -- no point making it EASY for ID thieves! When I got the letter with my number on it, I felt like my head exploded -- and I was still nearly inarticulate with rage when I called them, but they were SOOOOOOOO nice, and assured me that I would NEVER EVER again see my acct number on any piece of mail from them -- I also got follow-up paperwork to that effect, from higher up the chain of command, as well as a new card and number; so I was happy. Their response was all I could ask for.

IC...but it can be done..if a FTA receiver can receive Dish with a flashing the comcast modem can be opened too.

Don't know any hams? LOL..See if it can be flashed it can be altered..or turned into a brick.

LOL..I've had that happen and have made said calls...Had my identity stolen 'cause a mail person
(the other idiots who don't speak Ingles even when they're native born) mis delivered mail like that
which had my full SS on it.
Some of these businesses have no clue about security.

What are you referring to? Rabbit ears!
I just made some rabbit ears..they were tasty..LOL
No, really I just made a TV antenna. Two designs put together. The low frequencies get picked up by
a bicycle wheel frame (no spokes) and the high freqs with 4 stacked rabbit ears

Well..actually it doesn't. Any flashable modem can be flashed as long as one has an eeprom flasher
and the correct code to flash.
So it depends on whether you have access to a tech/pirate at your location.
The only way they can avoid that is to make unflashable modems
factory flashed to each tier, IPs..eh, takes a little work.

But I don't wanna steal cable tv..just want faster internet and willing to pay a reasonable price

In our state, they are only allowed to make 2 attempts to find a vein, after that they HAVE to get someone else in there.
I saw somewhere , that they have something new...a projection imager that scans your area(arm) for veins like a black light movie screen type of thing, that assists in starting IV's or drawing blood, maybe Kimber or Bori can explain it and how it works and if it is even being used yet.
If you're an exceptionally hard stick there are people who specialize in difficult sticks. They can also use ultrasound in some occasions to find a healthy vein beneath the surface.
I'm looking forward to the new overlay which shows the veins

Nice..real Rotts too. (lot's of runts out there now-a-days)

Yea, my old lady's Chihuaha wouldn't let Joe into either of the dog houses in the backyard
so he came and laid down by the back door right next to the radio tower and a bent antenna leaning on the fascia.
Instant Karma, man. Found him in the morning...my best dog ever too.

The Chihuahua had a run in with a county DOT truck
when she went out to smell my truck tires..flat as a sheet of paper.
We have a Bichon now but I want another Rott.

Man that's cool!
I wish the vampire at my doctor's office had one of those..I'm not too hard to draw from now-a-days
but when I was heavier..Oy! Fat and muscle do a great job of hiding those veins.
At hospital once it took 'em 20 times to find a vein.
I even asked the guy if I could call a junkie I know
who could probably find my veins easier.

@Saddletramp1200 I figured you would like this.
This is what happens when a bunch of throttle twisters are left to their own devices in a war zone.
They buy local sourced underpowered bikes and convert them into something....interesting.
I'm not sure on the first one, I like to refer to it as a two wheeled sand paddler. The second is a rigid and the third is a bobber.

We live in between two small towns and cable doesn't even run down our road so we're stuck with satellite TV (we have DirecTV), and Uverse for the internet. I wish we had better than 18mb/sec, but it's way better than dial-up. Do they even have such a thing anymore?

They actually do. Just the other night I went looking for one of my old dial up modems
just in case I had to tell ATT where to get off and comcast took more than a few days to come gimme service.

You're lucky ATT runs to your home. I'm in Miami and had to wait years for them to
put DSLAMs in my neighborhood and they still using old copper wires.
They'll never hang fiber, they're pushing WIFI and cell service.

Hey Mark. How you doing today? Off to work yet?
