SIGNS OF NICOTINE OVERDOSE

When I first started vaping I had about a half pack of smokes left that I ended up finishing. I had gone a couple days without a smoke, and was sitting at home chain vaping and drinking and decided to go out for one. So I did, went back inside after and continued chain vaping. I started to get really hot and sweaty/clammy kind of. I don't think I remember feeling nauseous, just unpleasant. I put the vape down and the feeling went away after about 45 mins.

back when I first got into tricks and stuff I would vape way to much nic and it would make me light headed but mostly just sleepy, almost like the feeling when you first smoke a cigarette.

I vape 30mg religiously. I must be a fiend. It might be the 2 and a half pack of cigarettes I smoked a day for 30+ years. That being said, I do plan on lowering the nicotine a little bit at a time. I don't know how many times I've said that to myself but that's the plan. What is too much and is it dependent on the individual? I hear 60mg will kill you and 40+mg will get you real sick. I do have some juice made at 24mg because it tastes better with less nicotine and more flavor.

Atomic Cinnocide is my poison of choice. Blueberry cheesecake is another one. I've tried to get that cigarette flavor and came close with RY4 mixed with vanilla or caramel. I tried graham cracker with excellent results as well as adding small amounts of cherry.

30 in a cigalike isn't all bad. Chain vaping 30 in a dripper could kill you. There is more to the equation besides the nic strength of the juice.

yeah, and I think the gas station cigalikes are up around that strength, but they have what, half a milliliter of fluid in them?

I've alr
eady went through 3 tanks of 6mg/ml through my Crown today

I started out at 12 mg on my e-juice. I started to really feel it in my chest (lungs) I quickly (3days) went to 6 mg. that fixed my problem. 6 months later I moved to 3mg. 3 months after that I've changed to 2mg . That's my sweet spot now! VAPE ON!

When I first started vaping and went to the local shop to buy my first starter kit, I told the guy I wanted to get the highest mg nic they had which was 24mg or 30 something, cant remember, and told him I wanted that because I had tried those gas station stick pen lookalike vapes and those are 18mg and did absolutely nothing for me. He proceeded to laugh at me and tell me with this device itll be like doubling the nic content in the juice, so he talked me down to getting a bottle of 12mg and a bottle of 6mg. I started with the 6mg and it worked fine so I just vaped that for a couple days. When I went to the 12mg it was too harsh and too much and I havent really gone back up, tho Im gonna start getting a bottle or 2 of 9mg for those stressful times when I just need it.

And a more related story, I had nicotine overdose signs once, when I was like 16 or so. I was in the middle of a crisis (girl problems, go figure. What else qualifies as a crisis to a teenage boy? lol) and was just chain smoking cigarettes, just one right after the other. Within an hour I realized I had smoked an entire brand new pack. I felt fine while I was smoking them, but when I finished that last one, oh boy, I was SICK! I could barely walk from the dizziness, whole body was wet from sweat and I was shivering and having cold chills in the middle of summer. I got totally nauseous and started throwing up. I went home and laid down to sleep it off and it was like laying down when youve had way too much to drink, the whole room just spinning and swaying like being on a capsizing boat in a bad storm. It was nasty. Really wish they had vapes back then lol

I'd say the only issue I've had was the insomnia, but then again I've had bad insomnia before, to the point where I was up for a few days at a time before I'd actually sleep. This was long before I was vaping and I wasn't really smoking cigarettes all that often either. The juices I get of course have nicotine in them, which is why when I start getting mods and making my own juices, they'll be nicotine-free and will probably only use juices with nic in them with my evod pen.

When switching from analog cigarettes to electronic cigarettes it may be hard to discover what milligram nicotine is best for you.
here is a list of symptoms of to much nicotine in the body. If experiencing these symptoms try a lower milligram of nicotine. A lot of people give up on electronic cigarettes if they experience these symptoms because they are not sure what it is. Hopefully with the symptoms listed you can adjust your nicotine and find something that works for you.

symptoms of nicotine overdose
Extreme anxiety
Depression
Excessive sweating including sweaty palms and feet
Insomnia to the point of delusion
Panic attacks
Increased blood pressure and high pulse rates
Heart palpitations
Dizziness
Tingling feelings in her back and head
Diarrhea

IF YOU EXPERIENCE THESE SYMPTOMS cut back on vaping or nicotine levels.

Can't believe you left off the absolute WORST... nausea. Fate worse than death. And of course the only thing that's even worse than nausea... vomiting.

I am very new to vaping (and just joined this site) for the last week I have been really sick, increased heart rate, hot to touch on my face and neck, insomnia and dizziness, I can't believe it took me this long to figure out it was the nicotine. I went to 0 yesterday and finally most of the symptoms are gone, however some are not. How long does it take to completely get rid of all the symptoms?

The only nic-OD symptoms I've suffered were jitters, racing heart, sharp abdominal pains, and nausea. They cleared up within about an hour of putting down the vape. Of course, I was gobbling dramamine and ginger capsules like they were M&Ms, since nausea is A Fate Worse Than Death. When I got some ejuice that was only 6mg, I was able to vape regularly without nausea or the others.

Well most went away yesterday my face is still hot to the touch but I think it's just residual. I am gonna try to keep drinking water and stick with 0 for now. I started diluting 3 with 0 last night and the symptoms started coming back. Either it's too soon or now I just have a reaction to the nicotine.

That sounds more like a sensitivity than a nicotine issue (PG maybe?). Nic sick symptoms disappear within a few hours.

Or it could be entirely unrelated; you might be running a fever. Have you checked? Were you a smoker before starting to vape, or still smoke? Because 3mg is a tiny amount; it shouldn't affect anyone who's been a smoker, but if you still smoke, then I suppose it could be a problem -- that was why i couldn't use 18mg or 12mg, I was still smoking, so I needed 6mg; once I quit smoking, I went to 10mg without ill effect.

Andria

I was a smoker and I have been vaping for about a month, I didn't have any issues when using 6 or 3 until two changes were made, first I switched to max vg and then because I didn't like the taste someone told me I could mix my 50/50 3mg with the max vg 6 mg this is when all the issues started. Once I realized it I switched back to 50/50 0 all was fine until last night I started adding the 3 to the 0 and now my face is acting just as before but at least my heart isn't racing and I am not dizzy. I am diluting it back to 0 sop I am confused as to what is going on now

I dual used for a month about, started with 6mg while dual using and then shortly after stopping dual use I got a bunch of juice in 3mg. Now I mostly do 3mg through the day if Im at home all day with some 6mg drips in there when I need it, and at work I use my tank with 6mg since I cant chain vape like I do at home. Works pretty well.

Glad I didnt go much higher than 6mg when I started. I wanted to start at the highest nic level the shop had when I first started which would have been somewhere in the 30s, but fortunately the sales guy talked me out of it and sold me a bottle of 12 and a bottle of 6. I started with the 6 and barely touched the 12.

Yeah it doesn't really sound like a nicotine thing; probably some additive in one or more of those juices.

Some people are sensitive to PG, some may even be allergic to it; some may be sensitive to VG -- I am one of those, it just glues my airways shut if I use more than about 15% VG. But the "hot face" thing sounds more like a true allergic symptom than just sensitivity. Or, as i said, it could be that you're coming down with something and have a fever. Try to eliminate that; if it's not fever, then I'd be thinking in terms of allergy, to *something* in one or more of those juices.

Yeah I just don't understand because as I said I've been vaping for awhile now with no ill affects from either at 50/50 so I don't understand why all of the sudden I am having a sensitivity to one of them. I.think I just need to give my body time to fully recover as I has been dealing with those symptoms for over a week. I felt a million times better last night and as soon as I tried adding the 3 into my tank it started again so I an thinking either I just need more time or maybe now I have a sensitivity to nicotine all together. I do have Lyme disease so my body is slower at recovering from anything. I really hope I don't have to stop vaping all together, I love it and it's helped me to quit smoking. I am very new at all this so I could be wrong to just doesn't make sense because I've been vaping for awhile. I am sure the device change has something to do with it, I was using a KangerTech evodd battery and aspire tanks before and now I have a Top box mini so it's a big step up too. I don't know but I'll be so angry if I have to stop vaping. Oh and I only use one juice I haven't changed that at all.

When you upgrade your tank you can get a much bigger nicotine hit. If you still have the original equpment, try using that again for a bit.

Well, you have to be exposed to something to become sensitized to it, for allergic symptoms to manifest. Although you've probably been exposed to PG/VG for much of your life, probably not in such high concentration as with vaping. But my son ate coconut very happily for 20 yrs, then suddenly, if he gets the slightest trace of anything coconut, he becomes anaphylactic.

I understand the fear of not being able to vape; I've had the problems with VG, which were terrifying when I couldn't breathe, but turns out that 85% or more PG means I can still breathe. I also had serious problems with dehydration/electrolyte imbalance, which made me fear I couldn't keep vaping, but once I dropped 80% of my caffeine intake and added daily coconut water, that problem disappeared. Vaping is very much NOT one size fits all, but if you really try, you can probably figure out a way to do it safely and comfortably. It might take a while, a long process of elimination, but don't give up -- as you note, it's totally worth it, in allowing us to abstain from smoking without so much suffering.

Hang in there!

I vaped a 30ml bottle of 24mg in one day and collapsed on a hockey rink the next day. I went home and slept 17 hours till wife was going to call ambulance or I get in her car and go to hospital. Tried to tell them I was dehydrated but doctor would not listen. After six months of tests and retests the doctor call me in and said I have never ever been so healthy and they could find nothing wrong. Told him I quit smoking and now I vape. He told me to keep on vaping. After that about every six months I would get a headache and nauseous and would drop my nic and then would be fine for another six months. That's why I tell people your body will tell you when it is time to drop the nic level. CHEERS!

hey wheelie, good to see you here. :) And I more or less agree. I never felt any particular "urge" to go lower, but I wanted to see if halving my nic level, from 10mg to 5mg, would help my wintertime cold hands and feet -- it really has! And I dropped slowly enough, I really didn't even notice it -- about 1mg about weekly-ish -- every 30-40ml. Still at 5mg, but if GA enacts any odious regs about vaping, I plan to drop to 3mg; I'll do it slowly as I did before, and don't anticipate any problems.

@AndriaD thanks for the welcome. I am down to 3mg and 6mg now but My vaping has changed drastically. Kayfuns and Protanks do not cut it now. Big cloud, low ohm tanks do. LOL At age 56 I am now playing hockey more than ever. Play today, tomorrow and Saturday. Now I always have a water bottle on my net and drink a lot of water when I play. Did not understand dehydration when I first started vaping three years ago that lead to my health scare.

I have been vaping for 3 years on 18mg around 6ml daily and litterally 18 hours of the day, i feel generally ill most of the time and wondering if this could be nicotine overdose?

So, since I first posted I found out it WAS in fact too much nicotine that was causing my symptoms. I realized that because I was using a sub ohm coil and was mixing my different nicotine mg levels, I went to 0 and eventually back to 3, my symptoms completely disappeared. That was the most horrible feeling I've have had and for the shop owner that told me that using 6 was fine, he's wrong. I am glad I finally figured it out, ALL my symptoms went away. I think it's important to let people know that are new to vaping that this can happen and a sub ohm coil really does change things. I haven't had a problem since.
Wayne1981, try.reducing your nicotine level 18mg is pretty high and if you've been feeling shitty for that long it's definitely worth a try to see if this is causing your symptoms. Depending on what device your using, you could be getting a stronger affect then you realize, you have nothing to lose by going down to 6mg or even 3 just to see if this will help you feel better. I am soooooo glad I did, I was using 6mg in my vaping pen but once I bought a new setup with a sub ohm coil I had to go to 0 for a week then went back to 3mg. My issues were caused by mixing a 6mg with 3mg not realizing I was getting far more nicotine with this coil then I thought. Once I stuck with 3 all my symptoms went away, I felt horrible for that well and half to two weeks I mixed them. I hope this helps, I was given so much bad info from a shop that I didn't listen right away, glad I came across this forum and decided to try reducing my nicotine level because if I felt like that any longer I would've gone to the hospital it got so bad. Best of luck to you, I hope you do lower it and see the same positive results and feel better.

Glad to hear that you figured out what the problem for you was! The amount a person smoked and how plus the the type of gear and the way you vape plays a big part is choosing the correct Nicotine level. I started with Cig-A-Likes and used anything from 1.2% to 2.4% when refilling the cartridges. Switched to a MOD and cut that to .6% and now doing DIY I mix at 3MG. Although the worst I experienced from too much Nicotine was a headache There are times I do use so store bought to spike my Tobacco e-Liquids for a little more kick!

Thank you!'Thanks to all of you for helping me figure it out. These forums have really helped me learn alot without them not only would I still feel shitty but I continued to get ripped off at my local stores. By talking to experienced vapors I've at least learned the basics and now I am not losing so much money not to mention feeling so much better. Bastard vapor shops kept giving me wrong info and wrong equipment I've spent so much money. Even going to a different shop proved to be a bad experience..Thank god for forums!!

It might not be intentional they might just be ignorant of the facts and how to properly advice someone or just be in it for the money. I am lucky to have 2 B&M Vape Shops in my area that are fabulous but there also are a couple that I went to once and they are done. :cuss:

I have garden variety depression, panic attacks at any given and slight p.t.s.d., get back pain from nerves near tail bone pinched by spinal discs seeming to continually grow. Also have high blood pressure which is under control. Do not think any of these are related to nicotine. I am just a naturally gallows humored type of personality that's experienced various events in life. Life does funny things. :)

You've been feeling ill for 3 years? Have you not seen a doctor? I'm fairly sure your body will have adjusted to the nic level/amount after 3 years...but you should definitely see a professional!

But that would be too easy or the smart thing to do! It is just easier to contribute physical ailments to vaping. The old Ignore it and it will go away mentality.

if you're using a subtank, I would suggest dropping to 6. Even 12mg in a subtank is pretty heavy.

That PTSD is some fun stuff, huh? :D It actually came in handy the other day -- we were making a left turn, so my husband was looking straight and left -- and out of the right side comes this car running the redlight FAST to make his own left turn -- my screaming tipped off my husband before we had a near-head-on collision. Sometimes hyper-vigilance is a good thing. :) Of course, we were in a Silverado truck and the redlight-runner in some wimpy little car, so he'd have gotten some karma in a bad way, if I hadn't seen him.

Yes, I know I say do what's right for you ...

I also say you ought to accept good advice from well meaning people who do know what they're talking about. Do not follow my example of continually using high nicotine levels. I am truly a genetic freak, a condition from birth. That lets me use higher nicotine, other things than most others can. Not bragging only expressing what has been shown as fact to me in my case. So, when these folks say go to 6 mg, they're correct. I would myself but either way for me it doesn't matter beyond what I'm accustomed to doing.

It can be fun. I have helped my wife reformat a hard drive while dead to the world asleep before. She come to the door and gestured while asking which way to format the drive. I was still asleep but imitated her gestures percisely. Kind of scared her later after I woke up. "Um, you were like dead asleep weren't you?"

"Wha, oh yeah, still might be."

My little brother used to be around folks that handled some heavier weights of agricultural product. Real dangerous kind of work because of people thieving product, or other hassles. He use to tell folks he'd take my collar off, sick me on them. He never went in anywhere but what I didn't give him the okay.

Now this old dog, lets his kids, dogs handle the 'heavy lifting' for the most part. All of them know though, "papa, he take a bullet for us, we do the same for him". I have to rely on them for their noses and sense of scents. In some ways they are my 'service' animals. In other ways they're just my big old loopy kids. Got one at the doc today for his 'fixin'. Go pick him up this evening.

Poor guy was my Buddha boy before being fixed, now he'll probably be so mellow he won't move at all. *chuckles*

Think mine come from growing up in a situation that was kind of shitty. I've stared down a gun barrel a few different times and dared it to happen. kind of gain all sorts of differing perspectives from that, that and having been gas lighted a good part of life. * shrugs * Yeah, life is funny. :)

Think mine come from growing up in a situation that was kind of shitty. I've stared down a gun barrel a few different times and dared it to happen. kind of gain all sorts of differing perspectives from that, that and having been gas lighted a good part of life. * shrugs * Yeah, life is funny. :)

Mine was from waking up one morning to find our MOBILE HOME apparently on fire... turned out, the smoke was from a shorted wire arcing against a 2x4, so nothing actually burned... except my peace of mind. Go from "WE'RE GONNA LOSE EVERYTHING!" to "Ma'am, it's ok, it was a wire arcing on a 2x4, we;ve turned off the power" in 30 seconds, and that fear doesn't go away. Then 2 yrs later, when I was BARELY starting to kinda get over it... some lunatics flew planes into bldgs in NYC and DC and I got to watch it on TV! WHEE! For about a year after that, I "stood guard" inside our apt, making sure no one did anything to the mailboxes right across from us -- that was during the anthrax scares -- imagine my alarm when a non-postal-labelled truck pulled up to them one day and started working... to change all the locks. I was SURE it was a terrorist attack. It took me 5 yrs, and 3 yrs of Effexor, to pull out of that... but I still couldn't ride in any car without constant screaming. So we got a truck.. it's bigger and badder and high enough that I can see EVERYTHING, and don't feel I'm about to be squashed like a bug. But the old hyper-vigilance still kicks in sometimes.
