I use nickel all of the time. I used it in the beginning for 6 months straight. I bought tempered nickel because everyone said how soft regular Ni200 was. Well after 6 months I was running low and I ordered regular Ni200 to give that a shot. So while I was waiting to get it in the mail, I started to build with Kanthal again. And that has a horrible iron taste to it. And the horrors that people said soft nickel, I found it to be a plus. No more stab wounds for one. And easy to bend into any shape you want was another plus.
I also bought some SS wire. That was going pretty well until I got a horrible smell from it when dry burning. Thinking the smell would go away, I wicked it and vaped it and it tasted just like it smelled. Checked my other SS coils and I could detect a hint of that bad taste from them too. Quit using SS that day. So I've been using Ni200 for the last 6 months again. I also love how stable it is for temperature control.
